Great work there with your car George. I had a black 1987 one, it had been shunted in the rear which caused the seat mounts screws to rip out of the chassis i guess with the momentum of the passenger going forwards during impact. Likewise I had to repair to get the seats screwed down securely.

I had the 1.9 205 and 309. Both 89 plate cars. I genuinely enjoyed the 309 more. The 205 was the pretty car and it had the appeal but the 309 felt more planted with less lift of oversteer, felt a step up in terms of build and just suited me better. I loved them both. Of the 20 plus 80s hot hatches i had it really stood out as one of the best. It wasn’t the fastest but it was up there.

Nice video! I had a red one (with the fancy glass sunroof option!) in the early 90s. It was also an 88 model. I bought it in the UK and imported it to Ireland. I opted for the 309 over the 205 as it's definitely a sweeter handing machine. I really enjoyed that car. The interior build quality was atrocious though! I ended up selling it to a friend after 3 years and buying a Renault 19 16V. Good luck with your restoration efforts. I hope you can keep it running and enjoy it for a long time. I'm sure the Australian climate will be a lot kinder to it than the Irish climate would be!

Owned a 309 XSI and it was much better balanced car which handled much better than the short wheelbase 205

Amazing that the gentleman is not particularly knowledgeable about his Silver Shadow Mulliner Park Ward two-door saloon: Rolls-Royce didn’t simply cut a four door saloon in half and create a coupé. In fact, the roof, front wings etc are all different. I also notice that he’s fettled with the car and incorrectly positioned the interior door handles. Lack of attention to detail - he should have looked at page 36 in the handbook.

Más allá de éso, yo no tendría 40 o 50m autos , de los cuales 30 sean una chatarra. Me quedaría con 4 o 5. Usaría el dinero de vender la chatarra y me quedaría con; uno moderno, como el Ferrari, o el Rolls, o dos, que no tengan problemas mecánicos, y uno o dos clásicos de los 70, nada más. A ésa edad, ya no querría juntar mas chatarra por acumular. Saludos.

It reminds me of the Righini collection, Modena: Mario was a scrap dealer who kept interesting cars for himself and now the Righini Collection is impressive (350 cars, includes the first ever Ferrari). Except that Righini then bought a castle and the collection is crammed into a castle instead of barracks.

I have a 1988 Alfa Romeo '75' Milano Gold. I know they are definitely NOT on the list of beautiful cars. But I still love the square 80s look.

This may qualify as the first automotive hoarder video I've seen. As others have commented, what a mess. The whole video was waaaaaay too long to listen to his often, incomprehensible mumbling. If he was such a "connoisseur", he would not have allowed these cars to deteriorate to this degree. What a shame.

man! this was painful to watch! even CC couldn't understand what he was saying. video was almost always out of frame or out of focus. i skipped though after about half way, was cool to see a non rich guys collection. Lots of almost hero cars but no superstars, car collecting on a budget, clearly no$ left to keep up the clendliness of the collection. He was probably capable himself back in his early days.

The green B12 used to belong to me. Aurelias had 4-speed transaxles (Ardeas were the first with a 5-speed)

i have a pic of a 1936 riley sports that i took in 1986 at a Gosford swap meet. I dont usually take photos of cars as iam a bike guy but this Riley looked fabulous in its un painted alloy finish. had nsw rego RS 1936 I hope its still motoring it was a head turner 👍

LOVLEY TO SEE THESE OLD RILEYS AS OUTSTANDING CARS. WHAT I CANNOT FIND ANYWHERE PREHAPS NONE SURVIVED WAS THE RILEY MONACO ABOUT 1936. AN OUTSTANDING CAR. THIS HAD A DYNOSTART STICKING OUT FROM THE FRONT OF BELOW THE RADIATOR. CHROME PLARED AND IT MADE A WHIRING SOUND.. IT HAD A PRE SELECTOR GEARBOX THEY CHANGED WHEN ONE SELECTED A GEAR AND ONLY THEN WHEN ONE PRESSED THE CLUTCH. I THING IT HAD A FLUID FLYWHEEL.. PREHAPS THIS FACT CAUSED NONE TO SURVIVE AS REPAIRS VERY DIFFICULT. THIS WAS A FOUR SEATER FOUR DOOR SALOON. IT HAD A BOOT AT REAR AS A NORMAL REAR CONFIGURATION. CAN YOU HELP OVER THIS PROBLEM. DID THEY NOT MAKE MANY OR DID ONLY A FEW SURVIVE WWII. I RESIDE IN ENGLAND AND WE HAD ONE AFTER WWII FOR MANY YEARS. ONLY CHANGED IT BECAUSE WE NEEDED A LARGER CAR FOR THE FAMILY. REPLACEMENT. A HUDSON 1939 CHEVROLET ENGINE A FIVE SEATER.

Good work on the video mate, there wasn't much to look at after the event last year yet somehow I missed yours. I was entered in Regularity 2 which you didn't show but I forgive you..... I only got to race on Sunday in the miserable cold wet conditions after spending all day Saturday trying to diagnose what turned out to be a faulty condensor. Gave it heaps on Sunday though to make up for it :)
