My dad was SF (Green Beret)...they are a different breed. He was 10th group "Mountain Men" per say.... One of my favorite movies because my dad never spoke about it. It was neat to knpw my dad was one of the elite guys. If you ever have any wonder about what they "are"? Look up Mac V Sog podcast. The stories that are now declassified are unreal. Enjoyed your reaction.

I visited Chernobyl 11 years ago to see what it was like, and to Hiroshima 15 years ago. What concerns me is that governments are looking at nuclear power to solve the 'green energy' / net zero problem. Solar, wind, hydro, these cannot reliably produce enough to energy to satisfy demand. In England, Hinkley Point C was first proposed in 2010 (some say 2008). The government approved the project in 2016. The project was, ambitiously, supposed to complete in 2020. It is now estimated to complete between 2029 and 2031. The financing comes from French and Chinese nuclear industries. They will want a profit. The original cost was around £13 billion. Thus year the estimated cost on completion was thought to be £46 billion. One analyst said the cost of the electricity generated by Hinkley Point C would be so high as to be 'economically insane'. We don't really know what to do with nuclear waste. There are other problems too. We see people who do as they're told and tell people what they want to hear to keep their jobs. We have people with huge egos, with a hunger for power. There are rich people providing campaign funds in exchange for favours. We prefer not to think about these things.

It's funny how today we decry blood sports like the gladiator battles, but love bloody movies. Fake blood, make-up and CGI have given us more acceptable means of sating our bloodlust. I hadn't seen this before, so made another trip to the library to find it. While playing loose with the history, it still gave a very good look at those times. The set and costuming are fabulous.

I didn't see this when it was released. I don't care for war films (or slasher pics like Saw). I think our culture has become so inured to bloodshed, that we now view actual war footage the way we do movies, as something that doesn't affect us. But I can see the vision behind this one. I think WW2 was the last "good" war the US took part in. Hitler had to be stopped. Spielberg's genius here is that, instead of glorifying war and heroism, he showed the horror soldiers felt, and their vulnerability. It doesn't matter how brave or patriotic one is, fear is real and soldiers die horribly. One exception to my not liking movies about war is "Apocalypse Now." Coppola based the script on Joseph Conrad's novel "Heart of Darkness"--a brilliant bit of writing itself, moving the characters from the Belgian Congo of the 19th century, to the jungles of Vietnam in the 20th. It isn't a history of actual events, but an allegory on broader concepts of civilization and humanity. (The making of "Apocalypse Now" became its own adventure as documented in "Hearts of Darkness: a filmmaker's apocalypse," a documentary film shot by Coppola's wife, Eleanor.) If I were ever to recommend a "war movie" it would be Apocalypse Now.

You know I came late to this channel (you asked me why I supported it on Patreon, when you had already quit doing that), and I am even later to this, because I hadn't seen it yet and I can't "watch" a movie with you if I haven't seen it, too. So it took me a while. (Shout out to my library's video collection!) I love Matt Damon, but don't know enough about Nolan or Hans Zimmer to have an opinion yet. The intro to this was interesting, because of the interviews of people talking about living through the dust storms. To American viewers this suggested that they were talking about the Oklahoma dust bowl in the 1930s. When we see the family on their farm, it's hard to know that it isn't a flashback to that period. Then someone there opens a laptop. Boom--we're in the future. (I liked that the robots have settings for honesty and humor 😀). It's encouraging to think that science wants to save humanity, but it would be more cost effective and quicker results if we quit ruining the planet we have, We aren't at this point yet where earth is actively trying to kill us, but we're close. Now you have met Matthew McConaughey, will you be watching more of him? Thanks for introducing me to this film. Now i can watch the reaction you just did for the soundtrack. This is an excellent Ken Burns documentary on the Dust Bowl. I don't know if it will be playable where you are though. www.pbs.org/kenburns/the-dust-bowl/

So Adnan, about where they're going on those ships. You remember that through out all the movies they talked about how the Elves are leaving Middle Earth. In case you didn't know, Elves are not humans (the pointy ears). Tolkien wrote that the god Ilúvatar created the Elves and the Humans (or as Tolkien calls them "Men"). His gift to the Elves was to never die from old age, or don't fall sick to any worldy diseases. But their spirits still age, they grow tired of the world. Then as Tolkien wrote it, "...whereas to Men, he gave strange gifts". Their gift was death, only to inhabit the world for a short time and then be gone forever, and no one but Ilúvatar knows where they go after they die. The Elves also have a "heaven" called Valinor, and that's where they're going on those ships. It's being referred to in the movies as "the undying lands". Elves who are killed, whose bodies are destroyed, also end up in Valinor, in the Halls of Mandos (Mandos is the keeper of the dead souls of Elves). There he can hold them as long as he pleases, and it's a place of rest and contemplation. When he deems fit to release a soul, they exit the Halls, and manifest physically again, in Valinor and reunites with all their loved ones. So essentially, when the Elves go to Valinor, they go to die. They leave the world forever. The books/movies take place a the end of the 3rd age, and also at the end of the time of the Elves. The 4th age belongs to humans ( or as Tolkien called them "men"). Bilbo and Frodo are Ringbearers, and so they were granted a special honor to go to Valinor as well. As you saw, Frodo was hurt badly, and his wound never healed. Essentially when he steps onto that ship, he dies. You can see he looks sick, and finally when he's on the ship, he looks healthy and smiles again. It's the saddest, and the most happy moment in the film. BUT... the books also hint that when Sam was an old man about to die, a SHIP came for him too. Because he was also a Ringbearer, if only for a short time. He will be reunited with Frodo at the end. You can read about all this in "The Silmarillion".

The extras who acted has the prisoners where actual Cancer Patients getting or awaiting treatment. When making the concentration camp scene, behind the scenes people asked many of the actors if they want to see a memorial in order to get ready for it, all of them said no because they wanted to see the concentration camp with virgin eyes like the real E Company did over 80 years ago. (Babe Heffron said that the depiction in BoB wasn't accurate - in reality it was 1000 times worse.) The shock and awe from the actors are raw and real. I cry every time when I reach to Episode 9 because has someone who has a degree in history, we can never forget the atrocities of the Holocaust. Many people of today especially the young who are forgetting that the Jewish people have lost so much because of one man and many of his followers did to them. That is why Mossad was created in Israel "Central Institute for Intelligence and Special Operations," because when Nazi Germany was losing many high level Nazis escaped to other countries especially to Buenos Aires, Argentina. When Mossad agents get information on a Nazi escapee they go and get them, send them back to Israel, put them on trial, and finally hanged. Mossad even today are still looking for any Nazis from WWII, even though many are old men and women, Mossad still will hang them for murdering their people.

PLEASE, you, and EVERYONE, if you haven't already, embrace the One True Only God YHWH Jehovah, Only One Jesus Christ His Only Begotten Son and Lord and Savior of our souls and the Only One Holy Spirit. God is good. God is love. Jesus is Lord. Jesus IS coming. Your soul depends on it! I have seen God act in my life. He saved my soul, changed my heart, changed my mind, helped people through me, took care of people in my life, people I hurt before I found God. God is the only reason I was able to reconcile with my dad before he died. God worked through Jesus Christ to save our souls. Jesus Christ died on the cross for our sins. Believe in your heart and confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and that God raised Him from the dead and you will be saved. Be baptized in The Holy Spirit, and if He wills, water as well. Repent of your sins, accept God, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit into your heart, that Jesus Christ died on the cross for your sins. For God so loved the world that He gave His only Begotten Son Jesus Christ, that all who believe on Him should not perish but have everlasting life. Jesus Christ is The Way, The Truth and The Life. No one comes to the Father Jehovah God but through Him. Not long after I got saved I prayed to God for help understanding the Holy Bible, and that same day someone knocked on my door asking me if I wanted to understand the Bible. The Holy Bible says, "love thy enemy", "turn the other cheek", "If your enemy is hungry, feed him", "if he is thirsty, give him a drink", "pray for those who persecute you", "do not repay evil for evil". LORD willing, all humans may commit sin of almost every kind (gay, straight), and that's wrong, and all humans sin, as God tells us through the The Holy Bible, "for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by His grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus." The Holy Bible also says, "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness."

As others have pointed out, Star Wars doesn't take place in our galaxy, so the planets are all fictional. You'll notice as you continue to watch that each planet seems to have only one of the ecosystems that we find on Earth. For example, a lot of this movie takes place on a desert planet; in the next movie, there's an ice planet and a swamp planet, etc. The music for Star Wars was written by John Williams, an absolute legend in the realm of films scores. He actually started out as a jazz musician, so that scene in the cantina with the band playing the weird instruments was him kind of going back to his roots. Darth Vader isn't a robot; he's more of a cyborg. His body was severely damaged, so he has mechanical/electronic implants that help him to function. For example, the reason he always makes that sighing noise is that he has some sort of built-in respirator to help him breathe because his lungs can't handle it on their own. I think the last time I watched Star Wars with someone who hadn't seen it before was 25 years ago, so this video was a lot of fun. I'm looking forward to your reaction to the next movie, "The Empire Strikes Back," which introduces my favorite Star Wars character.

This is one of my favorite movies; I'm so glad you liked it! In terms of genre, I'd call it a fantasy, but I wouldn't argue with someone who considered it a romantic comedy. If you'd like to watch more fantasy movies from the 1980s, I recommend "The Dark Crystal" and "The NeverEnding Story." Another one that's really popular is "Labyrinth."

Sorry I'm late. I'm new to your other channel, too, and just started checking this out. It looks like fun. Good job. FYI-The outdoors (desert) scenes were shot in Jordan.

It’s the most horrible thing alot of us have seen. I’m embarrassed by the militarization and hardcore capitalism of the US but…I know in would’ve felt the urge to enlist in WW2. It’s a complex and complicated feeling for me but the depth of suffering of those times muddies all waters.

11:36 I love your suggestion that Bilbo has a decoy. I've loved this movie since 2001 and that possibility has never occurred to me.

It's madness to know. In that last scene. As hes walking down the street, in utter dispare at the lose of his whole family. Not only do you see the abandoned belongings of so many other families on the streets. You begin to see what looks like snow flakes slowly falling from above. To know that, that isn't snow that's falling, but ash. Adds on to this tragic scene. Anyone who's studied history, knows where his family ended up, and knows the horrific implications of what this falling ash means.

**DISCLAIMER** What I'm about to tell you is "fiction". Any resemblance to real or true events that may or may not have actually happened in the mid 1980s is 'purely coincidental'. (wink, wink) Not only were Vietnam veterans treated like crap when they came home, but there were many taken POW in Vietnam - and the US government turned their backs on them and left them there to die! The "powers that be" decided not to pay reparations or the ransom to get them home or even exchange enemy prisoners for their return. Those warmongers in the Pentagon just didn't give a shxt, tbh. They marked a LOT of them KIA, knowing they were actually MIA. At first they "rescued" a few of our soldiers, but it cost millions of dollars, so they just kind of brushed the rest under the rug. They even spun propaganda to say that any American soldiers still alive in Vietnam were actually staying there willingly. Large numbers of American citizens along with the families of these "lost" men pushed back for years, demanding evidence as to if their loved ones were still alive or dead over there and they asked questions about who, when, where, how and why. They questioned the "official narrative" and prodded the government to at least investigate, or at most to go back for them and/or their bodies, so they could bury their dead soldiers back here at home & so they'd have closure. Their pleas fell on mostly deaf ears, but people were still very angry and upset about the whole of the Vietnam war already anyway and continued to protest. The Pentagon doesn't like protesting citizens - it makes them uncomfortable when their BS is spotlighted. Sooooo... anyways, Trautman (or somebody like him) was sent to get Rambo (or somebody like him) out of prison to do this "mission", thinking it was kosher... BUT Rambo was really just being set up to fail. When he was preparing to fly out at the start of the mission Rambo told Trautman that he'd caught Murdoch in a lie about his service, his unit and where and when he was deployed... he told Trautman right then "You're the ONLY one I trust." That snake Murdoch was in the Pentagon's pocket - he sent Rambo in to get some photos of an EMPTY camp, even while knowing that there was a damn high probability that he'd find POWS (even though it'd been a decade). The "plan" was for Rambo to get "the right kind" of pics for them, then they'd just leave any POWs behind (again) and "get rid of" Rambo (since he's "expendable") and say he was captured and killed, then they'd destroy any photos showing POWS or evidence of POWS. Afterwards, they'd show the concerned American people the photos of the empty camp as "proof" and declare that there were no more men left behind when Saigon fell in 1975... keeping their decade of lies going, instead of owning their mistakes and doing what was right by the honorable men who obeyed their orders and who fought and were captured or died for it. If you go back and rewatch the conversations between Trautman and Murdoch you'll see (in hindsight) why Murdoch said the things and did the things that way... why he is the lying bastard we all know him to be. Why he was willing to just let Rambo die when his chute got hung up... why he told the chopper pilot to abort the mission when Rambo was in sight with a POW and had guns pulled on Trautman when he objected. Why he was willing to declare Rambo dead and pack up and go home w/o waiting the 36 hours Rambo was promised, etc. The mission wasn't supposed to find anyone. But Murdoch underestimated John Rambo. You see, Rambo wasn't ever gonna do a half-assed mission - he's ALWAYS an all or nothing kind of guy. He said to hell with your damn photos and he brought those men home! He's a hero, but Murdoch blanched because that wasn't part of "the plan". When Rambo stabbed his knife into the desk near Murdoch's head he said "MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!!!" Rambo called his bluff when he told Murdoch that he knows that "they" know there are more of our men out there in the jungles of Vietnam and to find them!

It's a shamanic Ritual. From Beginn to the End, not just a normal Concert. They played with Human Blood on the Drums (But dont worry, they used her owen Blood), Human Bones and Human Ashes. But is not a bad Ritual! You find this kind of Shamanism today in parts of Finnland, in the Mongolia and in Siberia (Not by the Russians, but by the Natives of this Landscape). In this "Religion" - i dont know a better Word, English is not my native Tounge - are good Ghosts and Gods sometimes Warriors. They must fighting to protect ... and thats aIntro for Wars. "Krigsgaldr" (War Screams), a other Song from this Band, is a part of this Song. The complete "Concert" is for free here on RUclips. It was a Ritual to Protect the Inocent and save the World ... ;) There exists an Amphi Interview with "Kai Uwe Faust", the Bull-Shaman in the Middle. There you can get more Information about it.
