    Unfortunately, I learned this too late. Should have realized when they start massive advertisement campaign and a call center that is clueless about coin collecting. Do you even think it is worth grading these or trying to sell them?

      @@6393-h9k any off the coins I mentioned I wouldn’t recommend grading unless you have the 2021 d Morgan dollar. That coin in ms 70 is actually worth good money. Most modern coins I would recommend not grading. You can sell them if you like. I don’t think most of them will increase in value over time.

    I bought a hundred of those Ike dollars I guess that was a bad move😊. As for everything else the mint can go to.... if it's a Morgan and it's not graded or not extremely rare key date I'm not buying. In fact I'm at the point where I'm done collecting for a while. All this crap is overpriced all of it

      @@hunterfalck235 I’m sorry to hear you are taking a break from coin collecting but I understand. The prices have definitely increased a decent bit over that past few years. Did you buy regular circulated Ike’s or a bunch of proof examples. I have hundreds of business struck Ike’s I have gotten from the bank for face value. Those are fun to collect as long as you can get them for face value.

    You are buying the coin, not the dealer, so I’m glad you got that coin, it’s really nice, and it’s the birth year of my mom actually, but that truly stinks that the guy has to act that way and lie about things. I see that with online sellers sometimes, where they don’t realize they are showing their ignorance and lies to someone who knows better

    Great coins but in reality the average collector can’t afford those coins. But they are nice, if you can afford them. I assume these type vjds are not for the a average collector.

      @@curiousrelic yes, this is true. I focus more on higher end coins (usually $200 and up). This being said all the common Morgan and peace dollars are great areas to collect and are pretty affordable for most collectors.

    It has been 9 years since he bought this eik dollar and dont expect a profit until 25 years,I have always put my change into cubbys caKE pans and German beer mugs in nick nack containers and just a couple of years ago I started to notice it was time to see what all i had and at that time everyone said dont waste your time on pennys none of them will ever be worth over a nickel and as I was putting them in order I noticed I really enjoy the pennys so I decided to ignore the spend it all crowd, and then they said those 66 to 67 coins with no mint marks will always be wasted space, Just spend them.I ignored them again, now they are saying the America the beautiful quarters are too many we will never get a profit from them. Again ignore them I gotta say when they tell me these are the ones to not buy, I will be the one buying them. So lower the prices and give them to me! and we will see!

      @@charlesstanley7900 unfortunately, this is not true. Obviously any coin can be sold for its face value but the values of many modern coins, especially from the US mint sell for way less than what you pay for from the mint. This is especially true the longer you hold most of these coins.

    First off you only collect Eisenhower dollars if you're into Eisenhower dollars no one does it cuz they think they're going to get a payout on those particular coins and furthermore they will at least give you the melt value minimum at a coin shop for them because they're still 40% silver.. and for those who collect Peace dollars and Morgan dollars the reason you would want to buy a modern one is because just that it's a modern one you can't buy an original one that says 2021 and so on.. they're a little overpriced I agree with that but so far I haven't lost any money on them and so remember kids buy what you like

      @@Tim99-lg7kn thank you for the feedback. They actually only made a select few Ike’s in 40% silver. They were only minted in San Francisco. Most are fleas only but there is really nothing wrong with collecting them especially if you can get them for face value. My main point was to try not to make the majority collection modern proofs. The modern Morgan and peace dollars would have been better if the mint only brought them back for a year instead of coming out with them every year. At this point it is definitely best to buy the original minted Morgan and peace dollars. At the end of the day you can collect what you like tho.

      @@SweetSilver805 I think it depends what you are buying. On higher end coins I like to buy graded because it helps define the value of the coin and determine if it is authentic or not. On coins that are worth $100 or more it can definitely be worth buying graded.

    Why is it so difficult just to get common date Eisenhowers. Of course, 1971 through 1978, but so many people want at least double face for them. Again, even just circulated Eisenhowers are tough to get.

      @@bobegan2121 I would recommend going to your local banks and asking for them. That’s how I acquired all of my circulated Ike’s. If you search hard enough you can get them for face value but they are definitely harder to find.

    Just subscribed to your channel. I only have one ike it's a 71s brown ike. The reason why I bought it is because it does have the peg leg, and again, I just had to have it. I will probably buy one 1976 proof set just to have a nice example. I know they will never increase in value, but at the same time, they probably will not get any cheaper either. You are right don't over buy them. Good advice.

I just think you shouldn’t make this area a huge part of your collection. I definitely don’t think they will drop in value and some of the bicentennial coinage might go up for a short time with the 250th anniversary coming up next year.

    I know what you are saying. I recently purchased my first 1883 CC GSA slabed in the box and certificate for $325. I know Grey sheet is way less than that, but this coin was talking to me with its luster and overall clean look. I just had to have it, and it's my first GSA CC. Some coins just catch your eye, and I had to buy it because if i went home without it, I would kick myself in the rear and probably not find another one for the same price. Has this happened to you?

    You are right. I bought 10 2023 p peace dollars graded MS70 in CAC slabs for $68 each from a dealer. I took a liking to them so I bought them. This is way under what the mint sold them for and graded. The mintages aren't terribly high, so I don't understand. What's your thoughts.

      @@williamfender661 that’s interesting. I didnt know they were that cheap. I think the issue is that the US mint decided to make these coins every year so they are becoming less desirable. If they would have just minted them in 2021 then they would have faired in value better. I think you definitely got a good deal tho. I doubt they will get much cheaper but I think they are becoming less desirable due to them not being a limited release like they were originally going to be.

    Here's why I don't agree with you (not fully). IKE's were only minted from 1971-1978. The reverse of a PF-69 DCam Silver IKE is ABSOLUTELY beautiful! The fact that that they were the last "big dollar" minted makes them special too. The #1 reason (for me) is the fact that they're still VERY affordable! The world of Morgan's, Peace Dollars, etc., etc. (Graded) is getting VERY, VERY expensive to buy these days...premiums are insane (graded)!!! Not every coin needs to be a "financial homerun"....at the end of the day, it's still a hobby.

      @@b-man1232 thank you for the feedback. I agree with you an Ike dollars overall. I actually have collected a bunch of Ike dollars over the years. I got basically all of them from the bank. I was mostly talking about modern proof coins in general. The Ike I used was probably not the best example to make my point but I think it’s best to not make modern proofs the majority of your collection. Having some of these coins is fine tho because they are very cool and affordable.

    I am a collector and learning more every day. I have the Silver Bi-Centennial set with the little book holder that you put the coins in (they are not in the book holder) and I bought them just because I liked them. I knew they wouldn't go up in value. And I also have the 2021 Morgan(P) and 2021 Peace dollars as well as the 2023 Rev. Proofs. Never plan on selling them. I just like them. I guess I'm don't look at any of it as an investment. Just a hobby. Great video and fantastic advise. Glad I stumbled across it.

And I know there are a few I'll never have in the collection. But I keep looking. I'll you what I really like are "well loved" coins. And old holed coins are the best. I like to wonder where they've been and what they bought along the way. The monetary side is secondary for me.

    I don't know how old the OP is, sounds fairly young. I've been collecting since October, 1986 and he using the word COLLECT and then talking about it from an INVESTOR standpoint. Collect whatever you please. But make up your mind whether or not you're a collector or an investor. You can't be so/so or you'll get crushed. If you want to invest, then put your money in an INVESTMENT with underlying cash flows as they nearly all beat the coin market.

I think you should collect what you like but I also think you should know what the value is of what you want to buy and make sure you do not overpay for it. I also think you should find different areas of coin collecting that you like that hold their value over time and should appreciate. I have seen so many collections where someone thought they had a really nice collection of mostly US mint coins and modern commemoratives from tv ads to only find out that they got taken advantage of and overpaid for all of it.

      @@BearSawicki this is very true. I mostly was just going off of my experience especially on the US mint coins. When I evaluate a collection that has US mint modern coinage and I tell the collector or son/daughter of the collector the value they are usually disappointed that they wasted all their money on coins that didn’t gain or hold their value.

Some of us just aren’t interested in making huge financial gains or simply just for investments. We’re driven by different motivating factors. Who knows maybe we’ll just get lucky or have a nice conversation piece to talk with grandkids about during family reunions or Thanksgiving.

    If you buy them any silver coins to make money I would argue you're not going to make any money. I bought lots of nice coins in 2004 and I mean Morgan CC and I have some of the good ones like two 1881 CC 1885 CC in the government cases and a lot of 1883 1884 and so on and Trade dollars nice ones and other rare coins and I will tell you what I can't get what I paid for most of them today and most I would brake even. I may have paid too much for them but not too much over cost. But still, 20 years later I would take a loss of most of them!

      @@The1313jeff that’s very interesting. I completed the most of the CC Morgan dollar set right before Covid and almost all of the coins I bought have gone up between 25-50% over what I paid. I even had a couple that almost doubled in value since I purchased them. For the most part I have noticed CC Morgan’s have increased in value over the years but I was not collecting back in 2004 so I don’t know what the market was at that time.       @@jadonnoble5621 Not mine I see on e-bay I can buy them for about the same price or even cheaper! ; I will give you an example I bought my 1884s CC city in a government case I paid around $290 for each in 2004 and I can buy the same coin now for the same or even less. And most of my coins are the same way. And I have a lot of nice coins . Now the gold coins I paid $600 and OZ Now that is another story I wish I would have only bought gold now and stayed away from the silver altogether!

      @@happymood888 that sounds like a good plan. There is nothing wrong with buying modern bullion coins because you are buying them for the gold value they have. I was mostly talking about buying modern collectible coins. They are often over priced and have little to know future value outside of the metal they were produced with. I hope you are able to accumulate a gold buffalo every year:)

    💯 anyone that disagree with him clearly have purchased a ton of mint items that they are stuck with. New to the hobby people grab them and flip on ebay quickly and it rarely works. Lol. And when people like me show up to buy your seemingly expensive collection that you have your daddys receipts for... you will be around melt. This happens daily. I see tons of nonsense collections of modern crap, nonsense error coins, and many many fakes / counterfeit coins. Many.

      @@nateg4236 haha exactly! That’s why I think the US mint coins are some of the worse to collect. Most are overpriced crap! I know maybe 1 and every 20 coins they produce might be worth more but they usually never hold their value and you have to flip them quick to make anything. That is just not the way to collect. It’s usually best to collect coins that were originally minted not to be collected. (Except old proofs but those are extremely rare)

    A lot of the 2021 D Morgan's were scratched up a lot, from what I understand. So maybe one that is PR-70 might have a chance to sell above average in the future.

      @@Tomscoins2021 yes, that’s very true. That coin is actually worth a decent bit more than what the US mint was selling it for if graded ms 70. It probably wasn’t the best example to use to make my point but it’s one of the few coins I’ve bought from the US mint lol

      @@monkeyman4131 actually i don’t think it will sell for much more than it does now. It actually sold for more a little after it was minted due to people figuring out that they were not grading in ms70 as much. At one time they were selling for around $1000 and now they are selling for closer $800 now. I don’t know if they will get back to the $1000 anytime in the future.

    If you resubmit the coin to ANACS, will they not put it in a new capsule with the original variant identification and grade?

      @@barbarakiewe4917 I called them and asked and they said if it was removed from the original holder then they will not remolded it. I will have to resubmit it for grading.

    If you had a bucketful of the clad coins, it's a type of savings. It's hard to spend, but you can cash them in at your bank if you need to raise some cash. A 5 gallon bucket holds a lot of coins.

    The U.S. Mint lost me as an interested buyer with their recent Flowing Hair Silver Medal "privy mark" debacle. They turned coin collecting into playing the lottery. If you were a lucky winner, you received one of a select few very valuable medals that included a "230" privy mark. But the vast majority received only a ridiculously overpriced regular medal with no mark.

    Yeah the 2021 D in anacs ms70 is a $700 coin. Since the us mint issue prices are high I think about 5% do well. So 19 outta 20 times your coin will go down in value after you buy it from the mint. When the dealers are offering money to skirt the mint’s household limit, you’ve got a good chance that will be one of the few coins that goes up

      @@KevinFinnerty-c4n yes, that is true. About 95% of US mint coins are overpriced and will be worth much less than you pay for them. The 2021 d Morgan is an exception to this if graded ms 70 because the quality of the Denver minted coins was below standards. I probably didn’t show the best examples in this video but I wanted to show coins that I had actually purchased. The US mint has mostly trash products that are scams to be honest.

      @@duhbigcat1848 haha that’s funny. There is nothing wrong with collecting Eisenhower dollars. I love getting them from the bank for face value. I just have noticed that these proofs I bought years ago are barely worth what I paid for them. It just seems like the modern proofs are really not the best area to collect in because they made millions of them and they are all really nice and were made to be collected.

    So there are plenty of coins that are from the US mint that have gone up in value. Not sure why you wasted money buying that set in anacs holder,but it does say alot. The us mint does suck, but to say that morden collectibles from them don't increase in value is wrong. You have to buy the right ones.

      @@TrueReject there are a few coins from the mint that have sold for more than what the US mint is selling them for but they are few and far between and many of them often only sell for a high premium for a short amount of time after they are released. Also, I did not buy the Morgan and peace dollar in ANACS holders. I got them graded by ANACS. I bought them from the mint. I just think that most of the coins from the mint are overpriced and the products are lack luster at best. I’ve been through so many collections filled with US mint products that are worth half of what they paid for them back in the 70s and 80s.

In recent times maybe the 230th anniversary flowing hair commemorative coin but you had to get one with the pricey mark which very few had so that was still basically a scam. The 2 is mint coins I showed (2021 Morgan and peace dollar) have actually held their value okay. The 2019 s reverse proof silver eagle is worth quite a bit. As you can see I listed about 5 coins that were realized from the US mint in the past 5 years that were worth more than the US mint sold them for. So maybe 5% of the coins they produced. That’s not very good in my book.

      @monkeyman4131 any of the reverse proof sets a ton of different eagles. Most mint coins in ms70 will hold value and climb due to quality issues. Im not saying all but eagles morgans, peace dollars, and now the flowing hair coins will always gain collectors love them. If you can't get ms70 though don't waste your time.

      @ those are definitely some of the better options to buy if you are purchasing through the US mint but a lot of people don’t want to spend the time and money to grade and try to get the ms/pr 70 grade. If you want to go through the effort then the US mint isn’t the worst option. I don’t grade many coins very often. I mostly buy them already graded so I like to buy older coins that have more historical significance.

    You’re wrong about the 1976 bicentennial. Well you were early. I don’t expect the value to peek until next summer. Maybe later with the hype around 2026 The United States Semiquincentennial,also called the Bisesquicentennial, the Sestercentennial or the Quarter Millennial, will be the 250th anniversary of the United States Declaration of Independence.

      @@VeteranStacker you make a good point. The bicentennials could increase in value some but I also think with how high the mintages are it will make it harder for them to increase. There might be a small increase next year since we will be celebrating 250 years. We will have to wait and see but I think overall, most bicentennial coinage is not the best stuff to collect unless you can get it closer to face value or melt value if it’s 40% silver.

    early on in my collecting I bought a set of the pr69dcam silver ike's, one of my worst purchases still, when you look at the population report at pcgs and ngc, these coins will never rise in price there are just insane amounts out there, and will be very difficult to sell even for what you pay for it

    I have picked up almost all of the modern silver proof quarters and proof dollars in PR70 that have several unique commemorative designs each year because I think they are interesting. I haven't spent a huge amount on the hundreds of these coins, each with a unique design. There are other coins I buy with investment in mind.

    Thanks for the info glad I don't collect those I have 2 of them that I won in gaws but not into IKES I have Kennedys but raw when I win in a gaws only coin roll hunting I just stack them I don't collect them in slabs or a book just want them for silver content Morgan's and peace I ain't buying from the mint anymore I just got the 2023s ever since they made more on 2024 not anymore al just buy older Morgan and peace from 1800s or 1921 etc not from the mint anymore plus there prices went up big time.. glad I saw ur video 😊😊 thank u

It’s definitely best to stay away from buying from the mint. Everything is overpriced and the modern Morgan and peace dollars didn’t work out since they are making them every year now!:(
