My first Masters bout in the super heavyweight division on Aug 5, 2023 in Dallas, Texas. I trained and sparred to get ready to compete and I enjoyed the process. Unfortunately, I was slowed down by injuries but thankfully, I able to win by stoppage in the third round. My opponent was tough and determined and it was good work. I enjoyed being in there.

I like reaching into my pocket and only feeling my leg, that's why I have a boxing gym. There's a difference with a boxfit gym, competitive amateur boxing and professional boxing. Amateur boxing requires registration with USA Boxing, membership, coaches certification, gym registration, back ground checks, etc. Professional boxing, you need state licensing, trainers, pro boxers, licensing with medicals, etc. You need some cash, remember "boxing" is a poor man sport. It's expensive. If you don't get your spouse to agree to opening a gym, you could find yourself in divorce. The gym will take your time, money and even become more of a mentor advisor. You'll be dealing with all sorts of people. If your gym includes an amateur team, your buying all equipment, uniforms, gloves, etc, even registration to compete, most youth will come broke with no money for gym dues. I run a competitive gym, you either got to be already registered amateur or committed to do so and professionals need to fight twice a year minimum, with paying dues and a percentage of their prize purse. Don't forget you will be the janitor, maintenance man, unless you get pro's that are good craftsman as well. If you doing it for revenue or think its cool, please don't.

Hello, I want to build a simple boxing gym primarily for personal use. I am a big fan and practitioner of the sport for a long time though i don't officially compete. I use it as a main means to keep my body fit. Boxing has also been one of my primary stress reliever. I plan on initially putting in the ff equipments: 1) 1 16ft x 16ft Low Platform Boxing Gym 2) 1 Speed Ball 3) 1 Big Suspended Heavy Bag 4) 1 Double End Ball 5) Simple Weights Set Given the cost that this will require, do you think that it's worthwhile even if i won't earn any profit from it?

Nice gym and review! I want this punching bag for my place. I do have a question about title punching bags. There's 2 boxing gyms in my area and they both have the black title 150 pound punching bag (not the greatest heavy bag) but 1 gym feels easier on my hands but then the other gym's bag feels like punching a brick wall which I'm afraid I'll eventually hurt my hands if i continue using it My question is, this punching bag doesn't feel like a brick wall right?

Great video thank you ! I’ve been training Martial Arts since 1996 and loved competing and travelling around with the team and going to fights and tournaments and all that. But something inside me always wanted to have my own gym. I waiting quite some time and really focused on Muay Thai to try to learn as much as I can and better myself as a Martial Artist before opening up a gym. In 2021 I started up Top Notch in my boxing Coaches gym and in April I’m finally taking the leap and signed papers for my 1st very own Muay Thai gym. This is something I’ve looked forward to for many many years now. I’ve put my heart into this Art. Lost girlfriends, broke bones, concussions, missed out on things because of training. But I wouldn’t have it any other way. This is the life for me, I’m really the happiest when I’m in the gym training and teaching 🙏🏼 I feel if you love the Art and you really want to have a gym, just start off small teach privates and slowly grow your clients and one day that dream will come true if you stay true to the Art and your teachings. Got give up, keep pushing forward and believe in yourself and the time you’ve put in. 🙏🏼

You seemed to put a lot of enfasis on that subject and it gave me a new perspective; thank you for that. Interesting rounds. He seems to improve by the minute, has a nice jab, fairly quick actually, good punch mechanics. His guard is all over, which is very common with MMA guys, as they are used to having to stop shooting moves for the legs--very hard to teach them to keep their hands up and minimize parrying movements. But you must be a pretty big guy if he's a heavyweight. If he's a smaller heavyweight he probably needs to learn how to get that head down and shoulder into the body Frazier-style and work those hooks. He's punching and trying to get out and getting hit, but when he gets inside he doesn't know how to handle the traffic yet and getting touched up all over. Still, that's pretty impressive for a second go at sparring and whenever you gave him a bit of a chance he got in their and actually had good punch variety. If I ever get back to Texas, I'm going to head down for a visit, as you've clearly got a great gym going.

Yeah, he’s a work in progress and has been out of training for a while before moving here. But I saw some of his fights and he’s pretty good. He just needs to learn how to box and clean up. We’re both about 215 pounds, I’m just taller. He needs to get out of the 200s if he can. Anytime you’re in the area stop by!

It’s hard to learn when you’re fighting for your life. I don’t agree with hard sparring for beginners. I don’t even let my experienced guys continuously hard spar. When we’re preparing for a fight I obviously let them pick up the pace and go hard. To me sparring is about learning, getting comfortable, execution, and confidence.

Managed to lose in a white collar fight night prior to COVID (but tbh, I hadn't trained very well and was facing an uber-serious 26-year-old who was bigger longer and who threw a zillion punches, heh heh--almost put him down in the 3rd though). But then COVID really smacked me, and I also wound up with nagging injuries (and it's so easy to get another injury working back from something else). I’ll be honest I’m not a boxer I’m a college student looking for a way to make passive income. I think the specific small college town I live in lacks this type of fitness studio. I feel like it is something the town could benefit from. I would of course have to get an SBA loan and I want to open a kickboxing gym I think it would benefit the community and feel as if it could profitable. As I said I would not be the coach. Considering this, what are your thoughts. I used to wrestle in highschool and I do have a passion for health and self - improvement. Do you think this business plan is feasible?

Definitely taking on the loss upfront. You have to come up with a sizable investment and unless your gym is crazy busy with numerous members and clients, you will not recoup your initial investment. It will likely take years to break even. So make sure you plan that accordingly and can stay in business. The chances of making money off of a boxing gym are not good.
