Here it is! Part 1 of the baits to throw series on Lake Houston for #largemouthbass In this video are my favorite lures to throw on #lakehouston during the months of September and October. Depending on the cold fronts that move in these are the two transition months for the lake and sometimes the #fishing can be tough. Especially during September. It’s off the north end of Sabine Lake. Here are some GPS coordinates 29.97548° N, 93.69885° W I launch at cow bayou and run in there. There aren’t any close ramps so you gotta take a boat ride. Before the drought it was loaded with bass! That saltwater last summer really got a lot of our bass unfortunately.

    I live on the south side of town and for years find myself wondering why I don't fish Houston... your videos are motivating me to get out there and fish it more. North of 1960 are there channel markers or is it fairly open? I've only really fished Luce's and that was years ago prior to the hurricanes and floods of recent years.

    • @lanceduff
      @lanceduff 3 дня назад

      You definitely should get out there! It’s in the best shape that it’s ever been in. Years ago in the early 2000s 12lbs was a big limit. Now that’s pretty common. It’s really shallow. I need to do a video on how to navigate the lake because there are some shallow areas you need to be aware of. Harvey really changed north of 1960. It moved sandbars and made a few islands disappear. After we get two or three really good fronts that bite should turn on big time!

It seems like every bass fishing RUclips has a “5 best lures” for each month as an example. Not sure what guidance to give as I think it is just a saturation issue which will put a greater burden on RUclipsrs to be creative and provide unique content.

Ugh… not 100% sure of the future of the ramp but praying it stays open. Perfect! Actually I’m hoping after the first of next year to have someone run the camera. I’m in the process of getting a Sony FX6. It’s an awesome camera that would make my channel look like a legit tv show. It’s a real expensive camera but well worth every penny.

    Man i always go here and never get any bass. But i launch on Deussen park. Do you ever fish on the south of the lake ?

      On the lower end of the lake you need to concentrate on boat docks and what few coves there are on that south end. I’ve done pretty decent down there in the summer and sometimes spring but the southern end of the lake is better during the summer months. There is a couple of offshore structures that hold bass but there isn’t many of them. I found an old bridge one year that’s not even marked on any map. Just happened to be idling eating a sandwich and my side scan found it.

    I know you've fished Rayburn, but have you ever fished the White Bass run in Spring at Ayish Bayou on Rayburn? Learned about it years ago following an old man who always loaded the boat this time of year while I was only catching 5-6 he was catching 40-50. Took me awhile to figure out he was fishing the old creek bed just under the bridge. If you fish out of the creek bed you'll still catch fish, but not nearly as many as when you stay right in the channel.

      Hey bud. I haven’t fished for them way up Ayish. I do catch a lot of them around the millers islands during the summer and buck island. Nice! That’s exactly what they do on the north end of Rayburn in the other two rivers. Get right in the creek channel and hang on. It’s a lot of fun! I’ve had some days where they’d tear off 90% of the paint that was on my RatLTrap. lol

      Thanks bud. I sure do appreciate it. I’ll have some more this fall. Oh nice! Those are really good folks to deal with. I’ve always been happy with their work.
