Physician by trade, DIY on my off time.... fun with carpentry, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and musical.
A homeowner making the best of his home with the use of his hands.
Just bought a house, which needed repairs in some areas, updating in others, and personal additions.
As I fix, repair, and add, I’ll do my best to post a video for the common DIYer.
One project at a time.
Maybe I can help in some way, as I have always asked others how they would approach their projects in their own way.
I have learned to tackle different home DIY with the help of my dad, growing up. Many other things I learned was more so trial and error and a lot of reading until close to perfection.

Part 2: Bagged Concrete Driveway in sections. 16,000 pounds later. DIY
This is the completion of my carport driveway. Using bagged 80 pound concrete and finishing each section, individually. It is not as back breaking as may think, but time consuming. Looking back at the finally project really gives you a sense of satisfaction.
All tools were already at hand.
Altogether, this was a total of 8 tons of concrete that was laid down. I took the traditional step in mixing the bags individually, making sure that each bag was the same consistency. I am NOT a firm believer of dry mixing based upon my own research and other people views.

Whole house water filtration with Culligan WH S200C and iSpring Filter. Aqua pure scale inhibitor.

Pouring BAGGED concrete for a driveway in sections, DIY. NO CEMENT TRUCK, 24x14. 4 inch slab.

Concrete Driveway in sections. This was a challenge I could not pass up. The entire space I need to complete is a 24x14 feet driveway or 336 square feet. No cement truck was needed as I felt it defeated the purpose of a complete DIY project. There are too many videos out there that say DIY, but soon after, a cement truck pulls right up, which kills the fun. With careful research and understandi...

My god, you are a warrior for doing all this on your own. My respect to you man. Thanks for explaining everything
Thank you! I appreciate that! So far so good and it’s still hold its own. :)
When you were removing the trunk panel, were there a handful of white clips too on the inside (behind the 2 removal panels) ? I'm seeing them on my 2012 rogue right now.
Yes. There are several. Try your best to preserve them as it is need to clip the panel back on.
I'm about to do a 3m X10m pour by myself. Thought of doing it this way and after watching this I definitely will but im doing it in 1.5m x2m frames. Wish me luck. Great work by the way. Kabayan.
Heya. Thanks for watching. Best of luck!!!! Please send pics!

Outstanding job!! Thank you for sharing. You just gave me the solution for pouring my own concrete slab 24x40 slab! Thank you!
@@hansummm best of luck with your project. Would love to see how it turns out!
Thanx. Looking at doing a big garage shed slab soon.... looking at ways to do it in multiple pours that will actually work. So far yours is the best. Love the notch idea but will be using actual reo mesh . Now I know I can actually do it. Lol but I'm going aggregate and cement. Don't want to deal with 300 empty bags. Fun times ahead. Thanx again
Hey! Best of luck! Let me know how it goes :). Thank you watching too!
Mine keeps spinning when I go to take the top plate off
Thank you, i have been riding around with a crank strap for 5 years and did not know about that like work around you showed on the beginning.
Duuuude that looks good! Congratulations
Thank you very much. All continues to hold up as well. Happy New Years!
I just put some food grade Hydrogen Peroxide in my water softener brine tank the did a manual regeneration and it eliminated the smell on my new hot water tank. This will also clean the resin beads in your softener. Hydrogen Peroxide will not harm the resin I am told but depending on your water usage you may have to repeat it again. I am not sure if the Corro Protec will still protect the tank as well as the original anode rod.
Hello ! I thought about putting H2O2 in the tank as well, but you would still need to continue adding it every 1-3 months depending on water usage. I did not want to keep opening the tank just to add the peroxide. So far, the corro protec is working with no issues. It has been three years now, I believe. I will keep you posted. :)
Hey man. This really made me feel like i could attempt this. Thanks for giving me this confidence. You did a fantastic job on this
Best of luck with your project! Please let me know how it goes! Happy holidays.
AJ I’m so happy I found your video, I made sure to subscribe to your channel. I have a 2015 rogue. The rear door warning will remain on even when it is closed. This only happens when it is cold outside. By replacing the latch would this fix the warning issue? Thank you in advance
Hello! Thank you for watching! Yes, from how it sounds, it should rectify the problem.! Please let me know how it turns out!
Good job but don’t need rebar wire would of been better but to each its own
@@dmgzozo3033 agree. But then how would I attach ALL the slabs together as a single unit?

Thanks for the video. Please tell me if you know. Is it possible to remove the plastic panel from the tailgate, then there will be access to change the revers light?
Yes. You do have access to the reverse light(s)
@@AJDIYNetworkI removed the rear panel of the trunk door and unfortunately you can't replace the reverse lights there. It looks like you have to tear them off with sealant (or something similar)
ruclips.net/user/shortszgBLzmvhkJ4?si=d832WJlmsfSY3xTV
Nice video 👏👏👏. It might be worth mentioning that you will need two sizes of sockets to do this job. You need a 1 and 1/16" socket to remove the old anode rod as that is the standard size for that product. The Corro Protec requires a 1 and 3/16" socket to install. Both sockets also need to be 6 point sockets (not 12 point) as 12 point sockets can slip under the large torques involved.
Nice! Thank you for posting I’ve been considering doing this, you’ve convinced me!
Cool deal. A little back breaking at times, but worth it once you are complete. Good luck!!!

🎉great job
Thank you for watching!
My pleasure
Hi. First of all great job. I’m in the process of deciding which way to go with extending my driveway. I didn’t think you could use the concrete bags for driveway? Have you had any problems driving on top of it? I thought you had to use the gravel sand mixture with the powder cement mi.lx for theses types of jobs. I really want to do what you did in sections and just use the bags. How is it holding up. Any current pictures you can provide. Great job again.
Hello! Thanks for watching. Absolutely, the bags are already premixed, just add water. I made sure the consistency was always the same for each Bag of concrete…not too wet, not to dry, but manageable. It I holding up really well with no cracks or issues. I just recently sealed the concrete and also used SIKA self leveling joint coumpound between each slab. This is mainly to prevent any sitting water to seep between the slabs(as rebar was used to tie in all slabs together) to keep any thing from rusting. I did a completion video, part 2. There, you can see everything…. Come next year, I’ll do another video to show everything is doing ok.
Great job… thanks for sharing
Thank you very much for watching!
What is the part called that you ordered? I have a 2015 nissan rogue select that has this same issue. I have it tied down with rope to keep it closed
Rear latch mechanism or lock. You’ll find in Amazon.
GEEAT WORK! Not easy Will last for ever how you did it
Thank you super duper. I appreciate the kind words! You Have a great evening and thank you for watching!
Good job.. I know first hand how hard it is .I'm right in the middle of section pouring an 18x18 slab. I'm doing 9- 6x6 slabs and it's definitely a back bending job 😂 I'm 61 and my wife is 64 so it's really putting us to the test. We're on no.5 so we're over the halfway mark thank goodness. Got one set for tomorrow so we're getting our rest while we can😅👍
Omg that’s amazing! Good for you and your wife. It does take a lot out of you, but after the work is complete, you look back at your accomplishment! I still walk over my Project and looking at what I have done with self admiration. You can definately Tell which the FIRST slab is and the very LAST slab is from how the surface was finished. lol Best of luck with your project and kudos to you and your wife!!!! Just one more to go! :)
@AJDIYNetwork Thank you very much!! Yes it really does give a warm feeling of satisfaction when you get that final broom finish and clean your tools and know your one slab closer to a completed job. And also the money you saved by being self-sufficient! I think when we're done we're going to set a couple chairs up there and uncork a nice bottle of wine before I close it in and turn it into a workshop 🥂😁👍 And good luck to you and your future projects and keep up the good work my friend !🛠📐🗜
Will do! Stay in Touch and have a great day!
@AJDIYNetwork Thanks buddy! You too!👍
I like this light design better than the one shown in part 1.
I agree. Less drilling!
My concern is the drilling of the 1.25" partial holes into the fence might weaken the fence. I'm thinking of adding mounting blocks to the fence, but not sure I'd like the look.
My thoughts the same when I was placing my lights. The part two version is less drilling. So far, the fence is holding up well and no breaks :)
I'm glad you did not allow this driveway slab work to intimidate you and you did a great job by planing your work pattern first
I have to admit, if I ever move to a new house and this is needed, I may think twice before doing it all over again. Mainly because I’m getting older, each year :(
Headed to lowes now for exact issue, you need joist hangers that hug bottom of joist.

@@lesterlino3316 of course! I hope your project went better than mine :). Thank you for watching.
Cool job, hard work that is. You should go and give Jeff DeShong a look at, he’s doing a large garage slab this way, but with a small mixer. He is also making his own concrete mix as well. This summer I have poured a slab for a my shed this way as well, my own mix either 1-2-2 or 1-2-3 mix. I live in a real cold climate so the 1-2-2 is outside and the rest inside is 1-2-3 mix. The whole job was over 3.5 m3, we had a very hot summer and just about passed out on a couple of mix days but all in all it went real well. I used a mini-belle mixer, I think you can rent them at home depot, if you can rent one you will save yourself a lot of physical work and it’s a lot faster too. Great job once again!
First off, thank you for watching. I have seen Jeff’s channel, but it was well after I completed the first three quarters of my project. The thought did not cross my mind to mix my own concrete. With the amount of time and getting the mixture just right, it would have been an option, but I was looking for something readily made and just add water. My goal was to get the concrete down after the forms were made and trying to beat the weather before it gets too too cold. :). Thank you for the advice! Would love to see your finished project.
Teflon needs to be stretched tight so that it conforms to the threads otherwise as you wind it and it will just push the Teflon up and off! And wind the Teflon in the direction that the plug is gonna screw into the tank so clockwise!
Thank you!
