Diatonic scales- Lean on Me by Billy Withers is a beautiful song but all is does is going up the C major scale. When people say that practicing scales is boring, well, just put it in a song like this.
The second part of the video is the ultimate way of learning a scale, inside and out.
Dan Hawkins explains this really well. If you need more theory understanding in a short video-- he's easy to understand.

Lots of work around the sixths, sevenths, and octaves. Pedalling for finger exercise (ouch!), and octave grooves disco-ey style. Not sure if it sounds very disco.. A Canadian band from Saskatchewan (okay one from Kelowna, BC) played one of the favourite songs of mine “In Hell He’ll Be Good Company” We play this song in our band, well, ex-band… and we just had so much fun. I think we did a good job, but nothing like these guys!!
