Hey Justin and Tiffany, I hope y’all’s year has had a great start to it. Y’all have helped me so much over the past couple weeks. I would love to see you guys respond to David K Bernard’s podcast and RUclips shorts… I’ve left UPCI and so I’ve come to understand that sometimes on his podcasts they are so calm and collected but church services and realities to what he claims can be so radically different and I think it’d be helpful to do some exposure work with that as well as general debunking. Y’all may have already done this before on an episode and I haven’t reached it yet though, but even a whole episode on his content would be great cause he releases so much and is so highly regarded!

48:59 wow! My wife and I are exactly in the same situation! We are both in the music department. She sings and I play bass. She is over the media account and we both were at one point Bible quizzing coaches. As we have started seeing the red flags in the upc and in this church we have wanted to step down but we were told when you step down from things you leave it backslide so we don’t want you to step down. And now this past Sunday we were just notified in a meeting that happened that if you have bad attendance and are missing music practices (that are now every Thursday ) you will get points like at a job. You can miss any services Sunday or Wednesdays or the music practices on Thursday or you receive a point and after a few points you get talked to by the pastor. Like I said in my other comment in this video. We want to leave the UPC so bad but it’s so hard to make the first step to actually do it! Prayers appreciated

38:08 it’s so hard I’m 5th generation UPC and my wife is 2nd or 3rd. My mom and sisters have left the upc but my wifes family has not and it’s so hard because we know it will be super messy if we leave our current upc church. For the past 6 years we’ve been wanting to leave upc. We left one upc church and moved to a new upc church(same state just a few hours away) and we are still dealing with the upc issues. It’s so hard to break away from something that has been indoctrinated into you for 20+ years.

Good Afternoon, Is emphasizing to have an encounter with God every service a bad thing? If the focus of any church worship service is any thing other than to encounter God, then logically what are they doing... Why would repentance not be done in any other way than with tears or emotions? Psalms 51:17 says, "The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise." or 2 Corinthians 7:10 (NIV) "Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death." The Psalmist says.. "I am worn out from my groaning. All night long I flood my bed with weeping and drench my couch with tears." Other references that mention tears, groaning, or dramatic displays of repentance... Psalms 6:6, Jeremiah 31:9, Luke 7:38, Hebrew 5:7. Repentance is very emotional according to the word of God. What is unbiblical about going to the streets and preaching the word of God, Luke 14:23 (KJV) "And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled." or Matthew 10:27 (NIV) "What I tell you in the dark, speak in the daylight; what is whispered in your ear, proclaim from the roofs." Laying hands isn't something that fringe groups should be doing or those that want to be seen as demonstrative. The doctrine of laying hands is literally given by Jesus Christ in the Great Commission to the Apostles in Mark 16. To criticize someone's repentance, attempt at sharing the gospel outside of the building or the practice of the commands of our Lord and Savior, is a major red flag. The only parallel I find in this is when Judas labeled Marys worship too radical, or when the multitude told blind bartimeus to be silent. Maybe they thought he was doing too much, maybe it was a dramatic expression of faith... this is a Straw Man Fallacy... Whatever your beliefs are on doctrine, I point this out to you because I want to show you how much damage you to the Word of God by trying convey your point. We cannot even imagine how wonderful heaven will be... be encouraged fellow believers !! We enjoy the blessing of Gods creation so much here on earth, oh how exciting it is to know that His Kingdom will be that much better. Shake off the shackles of fear from hell, His blood is much more powerful than we could ever know!

Its also sad because sometimes these preachers really think that they are fulfilling this role that they represent...and if they truly hold all of the UPCI doctrines to be true that they are doing it the right way... and the young men who genuinely want to please God start to admire these "pastors" or "evangelists" and then have this ongoing echo chamber of what "truth" and "being anointed" and "on fire for God" is supposed to look like.... sadly that's when the UPCI tradition quickly becomes elevated above the simplicity of the Gospel of Jesus Christ along with loving your neighbor as yourself... it can be a sense of pride and that's no bueno... thanks for posting guysss

And when you are apart of UPCI and go to church services as often as they have them, the authority of "the pastor" is emphasized so much. Its emphasized in preaching by the pastor himself, its emphasized by a guest speaker who is a traveling evangelist or even regular members who want to become preachers are expected to give special honor to the pastor at the beginning of their message... its even emphasized in music rehearsals, event planning, and when making personal life decisions (college, jobs, marriage, dating, ministry) where the pastor should have the ultimate call to make sure you "stay in Gods order of authority". Thanks for using so many specific videos and examples Justin and Tiff because this happens so much and people tend to not realize how dangerous this can be.

While some people like to be preached at like this @JLC87420, it is wrong to say that people "need" to pray with people who are praying in the alter. Prayer shouldn't be a burden that is forced onto people. Praying with people should be something that the spirit leads someone to do in a biblical approach, and if someone is not lead to go pray with everyone else in a church service, it can be abusive to condemn them as if it is their responsibility to "stir up the spirit", we should have faith that the Holy Spirit is capable enough to minister to a believer praying alone in the alter... and its like, if someone feels so fired up that people aren't praying with other people, then they should go ask (and its important to ask) to pray with them, people and pastors should be careful not to blame and condemn everybody else for not meeting your standards or expectations...

Hey Justin and Tiffany, I know this is an old video but I recently started watching yalls channel after leaving the UPCI at 21 years old literally this past December with my husband...as someone who always loved to play and sing growing up and still enjoying gospel music, the points in this episode were convicting and incredibly helpful. I will be taking these points to help me discern where emotions and feelings invoked by music can be unedifying, unbiblical, and manipulative in my life. I know yalls episodes are mostly dialogue, but it would be awesome if y'all shared yalls musical passion to sing/write songs (whether focused on christ or general songs) and share them via RUclips or other platforms. God bless and be encouraged, I think the consistency you guys have with releasing content on these subjects, specifically about the UPCI are gonna reach more and more people.

What church do you guys attend? Do they have anything for the youth?

What does "Shando" mean. So many of the UPCI preachers and teachers that I have heard speaking in tongues use the same words. Can they chastise or condescend to people without using the term "honey"?. I spent 36 years in the UPCI hearing the same messages.

Thank you for exposing these things. I didn't know if it was just me or if other people believed that Jesus 2nd coming should be one of hope and not fear. I'm glad I'm not alone. I am working to still love and forgive those who chose to deliver fear to children (myself includer) instead of hope and grace. It is a journey.

Anytime God's doctrine is replaced with man made doctrine we become Pharisees. Let the Holy Spirit guide every word that it brings you back to Jesus so that we don't make the same mistake.

These preachers are examples of people heaping false teachers upon them to tickle their ears. There's no gospel here. That's all the majority of UPCI churches do anymore - tickle ears and entertain.

Good afternoon! From Michigan, I was in the UPCI services for about ten years. A girl witnessed to me back in 2006 when we were roommates in a home for young adults in crisis. Said I was baptized incorrectly. lol I had never heard of Apostolics before nor dancing in the ilses and other tongues. They had me so scared to cut my hair. A pastor said God told him he won't give me my sight yet because he knows I'll go off and do my own thing, away from the church. I'm blind. Such an emphasis' on my sight being given to me, people would lay hands on my eyes without even asking me first. Now that I hear your clips years later, I notice how loud those crazy preachers are. I don't miss any of that stuff. Thanks for your content. I know it helps many people.

oh my goodness, I feel the anxiety

All those speakers in the UPCI whether male or female are addicted to dope. That is dopamine. Dopamine is released when they scream and become intense. And those listening are either condemned and left feeling fearful or they get on the dopamine train with the screamer and leave with a feeling of euphoria. If the mood in the room drops due to fear, then usually the screamer will pick up on it and start saying that God just spoke to them and start whispering sweet nothings to the crowd to seduce so they can leave with euphoria. I experienced that many times when I attended. It's pathetic and I pray people will recognize this and stop attending.
