  • Charismatic Pentecostals allow experience to determine what is true about God, self, and the scriptures. Conversely, Christians allow God’s Word to determine affections and emotions. The direction is important. If slanted to the former, theology inevitably dips into practices like Mysticism. In today’s episode, Justin and Tiffany vehemently expose this heretical practice and call the “spirit-obsessed” church to repentance.

Thank you! I wish I knew this years ago! I absolutely can’t stand the weekly altar thing and all these crazy unbiblical teachings, scripture twisting, and sayings! The Pastor I grew up with loved TF Tenney’s sayings but he couldn’t speak about the word. When he did he twisted it. He said the craziest stuff “God lifts up one and puts down another”. “Some are thirty fold, some sixty fold, some 90 fold”. It was all to get us to do more. Lots of free labor he got out of us. I went to outreach and taught Sunday school every week for many many years.

I do not like experiences preached from the pulpit as if it holds the same weight as the scriptures. Sometimes my mom who is 90 has the experience of hearing music. She asks do I hear it. I never hear it but i can tell she is at peace. Going to Pentecostal church for years had my mom questioning her salvation because she never spoke in tongues. From what I know about her she is saved. But that tongues thing had her always doubting if she was saved. Now every day she meets with God not just for the seeking tongues but to read God's Word and sing to Him. It's beautiful to watch. She is at peace in the Lord.

What this tells me about your mom is that she is an honest woman. A lot of people would have forced out some syllables and convinced themselves they had had a spiritual experience.

@@hyacinthbucket593 Yes my mom is honest. She tells it like it is.

I have listened to several messages by J Sanders. You are correct. He is a true mystic and is leading people astray. The two things that bother me the most about these preachers are: #1: To proclaim a new "revelation" that God has shown them as though the 66 books of the Bible were not revelation enough. That is just not a very hight view of scripture. #2: When they do quote scripture the application they make has NOTHING to do with what it originally meant to the original audience it was written to. They apply a new meaning to a verse that the author (Paul, Peter, James, etc) never intended to say. They twist the scripture to their own destruction.

Here's the scripture reference you requested:
God responds to atmosphere. (1st Imaginations 3:65)

Hi guys, I thought you had a lot of good content in there. I laughed so much listening to the first clip where there was just a lot of word salad😂! So sad though, when I think of the large number of visiting ministers i listened to who never covered the essential elements of the person and work of Jesus Christ on the cross!
    Thanks again.

At 59 minutes, on "Christian Mysticism" - there have also been Catholic mystics down through the centuries, some of which had sensual/sexual overtones. Mike Bickle liked to conduct studies of these mystics and the Song of Solomon with the young women he was grooming.

I do believe in angelic experiences, but they happen for a cause. They won’t show up just to hang out with you. They’re for specific reason.

I can't stand these words, altar, soulish, surrender, getting "filled" by the spirit?, atmosphere, mind-set, the heavy use of alliteration, the ****** spirit, and a whole other host of phrases that i realize holds people. This is why im anti christianese. Just talk normal by whatever standard that is.

The only reason that I am Pentecostal is because much of it is mystical. I’m not interested in a dead religion. I have probably stated that I am mystic-Christian.

Besides my initial spiritual salvation, the greatest spiritual experience I have ever had was driving down the highway and praying for a specific situation. No one will ever take that experience away from me. No, I wasn't in a church or with some religious group. This man is spewing nonsense about being in an "appropriate" atmosphere that is conducive for God to manifest himself. That's foolish speak. I guess the Saul "Paul" road to Damascus story was an experience that was just that. A story. Didn't I read that the Lord spoke to him on a road, on his way to destroy more Christians? Didn't the 120 receive the spirit in a meeting room? Didn't John the Revelator get caught up in the Spirit on an island, isolated and alone. Guard yourself and study for yourself.
