TDM 850 restoration Part 12 ( final drive seal )
Просмотров 8 тыс.7 лет назад
Iv heard a lot of people talking about the TDM 850's using oil and the possible causes, in this video im changing the final drive seal because of a possible cockup by yamaha, apparently they fitted a lot of these drive seals with the tangs in the wrong place blocking the oil feed channels and causing a build up of pressure, the result is a fine mist of oil spraying out from that seal! so im cha...

Hi where do you get the seal from?, I tried Ebay but they sent the wrong one twice usless
I've just waited nearly 7 weeks for mine! Absolutely awful customer service too! But it's was the best price
Best video on RUclips For the algo :-)
OMG nice one haha
that's brilliant , thank you
Your spring is weak. Try Honda CT 70 spring. They don't give. Your spring is shot. Bs man. Bogus
Very Helpful. Thank You.
Im being dense... is the front end jacked off the floor or no?
Awesome! Those springs don’t budge when trying to pull them!
loved the episodes. saw up to episode 15. were there more? how did it run. i’ve inherited a 2001 which i want to put through something similar to your light restoration. keep up the good work.
I tried this fab little trick but i cant insert the washers cause even with the stand out theres no spaces
Ich wünsche Ihnen b einen schönen Tag. Bitte Motorrad. Yamaha tdm 850 4tx Lüfter. Nicht drehen. funktioniert nicht. Haben Sie bitte eine Idee zu dem Problem?
Well done 👏🏻 ✔️
So the lesson here is, DONT BUY FROM CNC TOP YOKES. They seem a crap company. Where is the Clutch cable and Choke cable? If you have gone as far as you did, then you need them to do the job properly.
Brilliant idea well done 😊
Great video thank you ❤
Thx - Glad you enjoyed. My friends keep trying to get me to do trips like this with them. Personally, I can't think of anything worse 😅
Thank you for this clip and for sharing the wonderful idea of simply blocking the valve to replace the shim. Especially in these times, when spending money on seldom used, but expensive tools isn't as easy as it used to be.
Hi there! i have a problem with mine 4tx, it has a rev lag between 2 and 3k, mix screw set on 2.5 revolution, jet needle on middle position and when i rev it up it chokes between 2-3k and runs fine over 3k. Carbs were ultrasonic cleaned, all o-rings replaced, only throttle diaphragm and air cut diaphragm are old. I also repaired broken choke tube on one of carbs. Sparkplugs are back. It would seem like it gets to lean between 2-3k cause if i cover carbs inlets when reving il behaves much better, meaning this rev lag is not so obvious. I am thinking about replacing throttle diaphragm but old ones are soft and not damaged anyway. Do you have any ideas what to check before getting into "spent $" mode? Regards!
Hey there, hope you are still around, PART 10 you remove rear exhaust sections how do tou get to the two bolts that are hidden high can you tell me please
Absolutely brilliant mate. Thanks for sharing. I'm gonna give it a go. Its got to work!! Thanks Dave.
10 year old video it may be but it's well worth a thumbs up "like".
Top tip…before you remove the seal, make a note of where the part number of the seal is. That way, even if it pops out unexpectedly, you can still line it up and see if the tangs were obstructing the oilways.
What is the name of the part he takes off at 2:33 ? I have been looking for that part for my yanaha tdm 850 for months, but cannot find it anywhere and don't know the name..
Wonderful video. At what mileage it is usual to adjust them? Is there an expected mileage? Thanks mate. Appreciate it.
every 16,000 miles ( or 24000kms) or every two years.
@@brockett Thanks a lot mate.
Excellent, but not so usefull on new installs 😢
I laughed out loud at how silly and smart that is! Brilliant!
Super tip thanks
Very neat,thx for posting
Well nice job!
right where I needed your camera does not work! You tear this fucking camera to smithereens
buen video lastima que no se ingles
Genius
Nice to have photos of handle bar ends where the cables end up. Good vid.
Bought Topyoke off CNC so just waiting for delivery? I don't think they are in a terrible hurry for us old bikies. Lol. Hate Clip-ons . Replaced them on my SuperBlackbird which I sold, to stop numb wrists.
Brilliant concept.Thanks.
lovely job that
I havent watched to the end as I am getting called for dinner, did he show the bars lock to lock and fairing clearance?
Hi. I lent my TDM to my brother and he bought it home with a leak from there and a oily left boot. He is going to buy me a new seal and using this video, I’m going to fit it. Do you have a part number handy? Thanks for this.
Absolutely brilliant 👍👍👍
Vere level
I was trying to take my exhaust off tonight on my '92 inspired by your videos. It was easy to get the bolts off the swing arm but I couldn't get access to where it attaches at the cat converter. Maybe it's easier access on your newer model?
I wish I could see the part where you took off the original exhaust. Do you have to remove the back swingarm?
That is some forbidden jutsu right there
THANK YOU! I needed to do the opposite operation, but I was able to bend the spring enough to get them started then squeezed them in with vise and pliers. Still took a while but I have no idea how I would have managed it without it.
Hi, can you tell me what make silver spray you use before applying laquer , thanks Pete
Coming off a restricted 125cc, GT550, seems like a s paceship, it's Acceleration, does about 120mph. Shaft Drive, magic, had 3 550s and a gold GT750, liked it more than my nearly new Kawa 750 turbo.
Works like a treat. Thanks for tip. I just used what washers I had. Even with a secondary inside spring it still worked great.
Wow where’s that campsite please
Fantastic TDM 850
