Searching for flutes I found Quilcom, a company that creates free synth vsts. They have a ton of them and many of them are based on physical modeling (which I like). I was very impressed with the SIM-W flute for example. Maybe you are more of a saw lead guy, in that case their 7SAW plugin may be interesting. So much stuff, so many knobs and none of them are sample based. If you don't know about them, don't miss them. Everything is free.

my favorite synthesizer :) btw i would like you to experiment with the phase knob. by default it is on 0% where the synth runs in phase continuous mode. that means each synth voice continues at the phase where it stopped last, which causes natural fluctuations in the melodies. that can be desirable on pads and sound effects and stuff, but on kicks and bass sounds you often want phase reset mode, which is on every other value of the phase knob. so 1-100% phase are the different starting phases for each new incoming note of a synth voice. i didn't notice this parameter for many years, because the difference is often hardly noticable, but it's crucial for every sound that needs to be really tight

I remember using this synth back when I started doing music 15 years ago. Its still really good.

It's a DAW that doesn't allow you to bounce mono tracks, It's very frustrating to me that they added plugins and didn't fix their lack of professional features or their midi implementation which needs a lot of work to be on par with other DAW's, I have no idea what their dev team is thinking but they're clearly delusional.

I've the Cherry Audio version, but it's always been a bit of a hairball for my brain, so Ice not used it much. I love the sound, but working with it is chaos. So this video was really helpful.

Why this one and not the Korg or Arturia version ?
