Awesome stuff guys! The off the track edits with perfect with the beat hahaha
Which company is that seat angle adjustment pieces from? Thanks
The ones we most commonly use are from Trackspec www.trackspecauto.com/parts/ts001
what lap times is he doing at cota with this setup? also is there a baseline laptime before these mods?
On the current setup with sticky rubber, we have been able to run a 2.14.0 at COTA in June Weather this year. The more we track it the better we understand how dynamic and different the car is to a GT3RS. We continue to find laptime with small suspension changes. In stock form the car is very capable of going sub 20 but we never set a baseline from delivery.
With the level your at, it's nice you shared your build!
19s wheels with pccb?
Correct! There is very little caliper to wheel barrel clearance, but you can make it work if you clean debris off calipers and wheels after every day/event on track.
Get a better mic bro, other than that, good video
We will continue to work on cleaning up the audio portion of our videos, thank you for watching!
HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANS! WE NEED BETTER TRANSMISSION!!
Im glad there was room there!
We are on the same page! COTA has a good amount of room compared to other tracks, but it still has armco that sees alot of action.
Would still take an RS any day
We completely Understand that choice!
What do you use for the overlays on the track videos?
We are using a VBOX Video HD2 unit from Racelogic. Absolutely love it!
What software do you use for your telemetry overlay? Great video BTW.
What we install in the cars is a VBOX Video HD2 unit from Racelogic. Its truly amazing!
You are not an expert and are telling untruths. The pad with the studs is a Pagid pad. The rivets are made out of copper and are there to hold the pad material. They also use a bonding material to hold the pad to the backing plate. The copper studs wear easily and do not harm a steel rotor. So seeing the studs should not alarm you at all. If you are going to slam a brake pad manufacturer you might want to have the manufacturer defend their product.
Its not a Pagid pad. Great guess! As non-experts and only enthusiasts we are simply sharing our thoughts and giving our opinion after 6+ years of tracking. We are here to simply inform the tracking community all while pushing more people to come and join us in this amazing sport.
Great info and perfect timing. I’m changing my road & track car brakes this fall and really appreciate the insight. Very helpful.
Cool video bro, keep making these!
Doesn't his weight affect the performance
In Motorsports every Lb counts!
Cryo treat the disc.....that will tend to stop cracks starting.
This never crossed our mid since it isn't an offering from GIRO. Good thinking!
Great informative video! We’re running Giro discs with stock pads on our Boxster GTS. A question about PCCBs: I understand almost everyone switches them out for steel, but are there any guidelines for how long PCCBs would last? Could the cost balance out if factoring in labor and multiple steel rotors for each PCCB rotor?
We have run the numbers a few times and feel that the lifespan of a PCCB and cost to replace is similar to the amount of times steel rings would have to be replaced for the same amount of track usage. Alot of Porsche technicians are on the same page with this. The biggest advantage we find in swapping to steel brakes is that we have little to worry about when swapping wheels at the track. If you swap wheels on a PCCB car and aren't careful you can crack the rotor deeming it unusable even if its at 80% life. You usually want to swap them in axle pairs so a simple mistake can make the cost of tracking a PCCB car go through the roof. We have also had to retire PCCB rotors after our car found itself off track and in the gravel. This event put small nicks in the PCCBs to where we deemed them unsafe to continue to track and had to replace every corner.
@@sagamotorsports thanks for the detailed response. Great point about PCCB damage. After speaking to a few others at the track last weekend this actually seems to be the biggest issue!
I was in the market for both of these and ended up with a 992 gt3 for 2 main reasons. 1- manual. 2- no one will give extended warranties on the RS. So 992 gt3 was my choice.
We went through this exact dilemma when the factory warranty expired on our 991.2 GT3RS. It was a sad day but the 992 GT3 is an incredible car.
I noticed you didn't cover track insurance, or some basic decision making about whether to get it. Do you use it? Why or why not?
We always do get Track Insurance. We have never had to use it but have seen cars covered by it after on track incidents. We feel its 100% worth it because we have seen many people who wish they had bought it.
I'd love to see a tire comparo video!
Do you mean a lap time vs tire compound video?
“Break, Throttle, steering thats all u got”. and if i may add another very important control , Transmission and torque management !
100% shifting is a very crucial component. In decel zones to keep the rear of the car hooked and provide additional stopping power through engine braking. On power you can shift up early to manage torque and power delivery!
These videos are so helpful, thanks for all the work putting these together 🙏🏽
More to come, Thank you for watching!
I think I’m more of a mid apex driver due to aggression especially on slow corners, although I do late apex through higher speed corners more often.
From following you on track I can 100% agree with you!
…is the most important.
Awesome!
Great vid and resource for future track rats! If you can't do the maintenance yourself please have your car tech inspected before your track day by a reputable shop. Some cars have specific achilles' heels that will need attention before a track day (IE - pinning coolant lines on a mezger porsche)
That is a tight course... my god who did someone hurt to do that to everyone.
It comes down to space available, PCA mandates 0.5 mile courses, so you gotta make it work with the space you can rent out. I was at this event, the track took a lot of getting used to, but was very fun after learning it.
Hearing that no surprise so many car enthusiasts stick to racing on regular roads, which is much more dangerous to all. Maybe we should think at least about 'an affordable track for regular people'?
We initially push people to attend smaller tracks where entry fees are less and since the speeds aren't as high less consumables are involved. Tracks like COTA just have a huge entrance fee for organizers and that cost has to be passed on to the drivers.
Great information! 👌🔥
Ünlülerin bu tarafı var işte ya. Çok acayip bir "dünya"
No one wants to hear shitty music played over the sound of a gt4rs 😊
super helpful thank you
Good video - your HPDE costs that you quoted are dead on. You only left out rotor costs.
Correct, we based it on the fact that most modern performance cars do come with rotors that would work for the track but indeed forgot to include a range of cost for stock and performance rotors!
Good stuff
Autocross is a great way to get into HPDE (done it once now-can be scary, where autocross is sooooo safe and relatively slow-still fun tho) and feel how your car works in braking, cornering, accelerating, etc.
Tracking can be scary at first because of the speeds but it's very rewarding to find the full capabilities of your car. These are hard to find through AutoX, but like you said it does open your eyes to how your car works with 0 to no risk involved.
I do a lot of instruction in super cars and the most common thing that's said to me in the 488GTB is "man, this thing has a ton of turbo lag." It's hard for people to understand that when on exit of a turn to the straightaway at 50-60mph and they mash the pedal, if the nannies weren't on they'd dynamite the tires and end up in the wall. Nannies are great for learning, but I agree that when you get a a certain level they can be more invasive than helpful.
As we progress through time as drivers and "seat time" you can start to realize what you want from the car. It even takes a good amount of time to get to the point where you can understand balance and attitude of a car. Then to realize some of the balance problems are actually caused by our inputs vs the car is a whole other story.
@@sagamotorsportscouldn’t agree more. When I tell people I rotate my car with the brakes and throttle and use the steering wheel as more of a suggestion than anything, they look at me like I have two heads.
@@ApexHunter89 Haha The pedals is where the magic happens, the steering wheel is simply a suggestion of where you want the car.
What motorsport accreditation do you have. Do you have any FIA accreditation. If so what level.
Just a group of Gentleman drivers that take HPDE's and driver development seriously. In a lot of the cases we are the go to group at the track for tire and setup recommendations, sometimes even providing mechanical help.
Great talk guys!
Great discussion
Abs kicked in, over corrected, spinning out, got right back in
Can you do comparison of 981 GT4 vs 718 GT4 on the same tracks ? What was the cota laptime of the 718 GT4 with R7 on this video ?
We really wish we still had our Yellow 981 but it is long gone. Missing it so much was why this new 718 GT4 was purchased. Yes, COTA laptime was on a R7.
I thought you were drifting there for a second because of the tilted camera lol
What’s your alignment specs for a 991.2 GT3RS
Our current Alignment Specs for the 991.2 Front Camber: 3.6 Degrees Toe: 0 Toe Rear Camber : 3.0 Degrees Toe: 3mm total toe in This is pretty standard for this type of car as a track only alignment. What makes the car feel good and stay complacent are ride height changes.
@@sagamotorsportsthanks!
Double wish bone isn't magic, the Miata has had it since inception and the Toyota land cruiser has it. Moreover, if they are not on the same tires the test is irrelevant e.g. both on Cup2 or Cup2 R. I much prefer the 991.2 GT3 RS particularly on CUP2 R and I'm quicker in the 991.2 GT3 RS than the 992 GT3 (note I have done 5 seasons of Carrera Cup on 2 continents). The 992 GT3 is easier to drive fast for those with less experience likewise the 992 GT3 RS, the difference between all three in terms of track times comes down to tires and pressures at temp. Another point the 991.2 GT3 RS responds very well to camber adjustment. Around 2.3 front and 2 rear.
Totally agree. Well said
Great reply and I feel the 991 RS is more of a thrill to drive.
@@SpartanGA Absolutely, its a much more engaging car.
I owned and tracked both extensively all over the country. The 992 GT3 is so easy to drive fast vs the 991.2 RS. It’s not the turn in the everyone talks about, it’s the stability in the corners that is so stunning in the 992, it’s so stable you feel confident carrying more and more speed. However, to lay down quick laps in the 991.2 RS is so fun because you truly earn it, takes much more skill. I have told people repeatedly that almost anyone can be fast in 992 GT3 because the car is so good. But I can’t say that about the 991.2 RS.
Totally agree. Same experience. I like the 991RS better simply coz it’s more fun and twitchy. In fact is may fav Porsche GT car. 992RS is just too mental and the 992 GT3 is just so easy to drive fast. I dunno. All personal tastes. Also I like the look of the 991 series better.
@@ziggyfreud5357 I have been tracking my GT4 RS lately and I have to say it’s without a doubt my favorite now. It’s finally got the power to hang, but it’s just a riot to drive because it has the older suspension bits, less tire, no rear steering, so it’s all about the driver. It’s a very twitchy car, but the fact that it’s more challenging and I feel like I am making it quick (not the computers) makes me enjoy it so much.
@@Porsche311 Enjoy man. It’s all about relaxing and having fun.
Agree 100%
We have nothing to say or do but agree with you! Both incredible cars, the 992 is simply a cheat code.
I believe the 992 GT3 is an advancement for improved lap times given the front end and electronic controls. I personally much prefer the RS for the rawness and it feels more a drivers car. Given most use these on the streets and track days, I vote for raw race car feel vs. more numb but yet faster GT3. Again, it is so capable and more driver-dependent.
Couldn't agree with you more!
What about going from hpde to autocross
The Guys didn't make it too clear but that is exactly what we did. You are bringing that CS next time!
