I’m not going to let a liberal shame me for not voting for the Democratic Party. Let’s not forget that in 2020 liberals were saying that voting for Joe Biden and the Democrats would usher in “progressive changes.” Look at what happened. They went to brunch while activists were still protesting for basics such as not being bankrupt because you went to see the doctors. There were Medicare for All marches across cities and even progressives like Bernie Sanders and AOC were absent. As a matter of fact, AOC had her NYC office locked and closed. Don’t tell me to vote for the Democratic Party to “save democracy” when BOTH parties are actively undermining our rights and ability to just live.

With someone as dangerous as Donald Trump in the mix, we cannot sit by and give up our votes. If he wins we may not have the right, the privilege, of voting. She is absolutely worthy of criticism, but she also has the ability to beat that monster of a man if we get behind her. Please do not give up my friends.

You explained this wonderfully, I feel like the black bourgeoise see themselves in Kamala with her articulate nature coming from a HBCU being “immersed” in black culture and overlook the clear stance that if you’re going to “vote” anybody into office why not come with demands, and also you made a great point! people are scared to build a nation where we aren’t dependent on the government at all. i get you so much, studying james baldwin and malcolm x kwame ture kwame nkrumah i’ve learned that we can’t ask the same system to help us rebuild what they clearly took away. Great video. I’m a bit further to the right than you are, but agree. We are being lied to and most people can’t see it… or won’t. I haven’t figured that one out. Them doing “their own research” only involves them going to fox or cnn to hear someone who agrees with them and then they are done. It’s no wonder flat earthers are making a comeback.

Equating both parties this way is reductive. The gains progressives have made in the general public moves the needle more than a single election. We choose repressentatives based on their alignment with all of us. Kamala aligns more than Trump. Someone will win regardless.

I don't understand how not voting contirbutes to positive change. Kamala Harris would objectively be less fascistic than Trump. A Trump presidency would almost certainly do more to hinder susbtantative change on a foundational level. Voting may not fix our problems, but it is still a tool that can get closer to addressing them.

The discourse around voting and electoralism in general is so frustrating. I don't mind the anxiety that Trump is horrible and he could really do a lot of harm, which is all true and something legitimately to worry about, but then people frame their entire perspective around that and view every alternative as some kind of shining light of hope. The world just isn't that binary or simple. "Lesser of two evils" rhetoric needs to be permanently retired... and I'm saying this to people who are inclined to argue that even though I'm not interested in advocating it myself: you will have a lot more success if you shift the rhetoric to something that encourages further action and engagement rather than something that implies "settling for evil", like "choose your enemy". The fact is if Kamala Harris becomes president people will still have to fight against genocide, fight against police violence, fight for justice and equality, fight for marginalized people, because there's no reason to believe she will not uphold all these harmful policies that need to be dismantled. And if you decide that is the argument that you want to make ("choose your preferred enemy"), then you in turn better become a real ally in these fights and not protect people like Kamala Harris from criticism. Blue no matter who people always become complacent when when Democrats hold power and make for utterly worthless allies in fights for real systemic change.

Basically, Harris can be described as Uncle Ruckus. I think we all knew this.

As a minority trans women (aka scum on the boot of America's heel) this fully captures my contentious nature with this candidate everybody acts like this is our only chance to not have trump but the fact is excluding my rights would there even be a difference? Dope video!!! When Kamala was announced, I honestly felt numb. People use voting as a procrastination tactic, while occasionally paying lip service to activists but usually denigrating their work when it doesn’t “bend the knee” to liberal sensibilities. There’s been a gross reduction of genocide as a whole in favor of “we just need to not have Trump”, ignoring that all of these struggles , on a global level, are intimately connected and consistently isolated to give a sense that they can be fixed outside of one another. Kamala is just a cynical form of representative imperialism, still running the status quo, which only functions well for the same select few it always has. I try to continually stress similar solutions that you posited: organization on a wide scale of the working class, general strikes and boycotts, and how we get into more good trouble on a communal level, rather than rely on individuals that are just a different face of the same oppression. It’s incredibly frustrating to see a wide berth given to the concept that we can somehow hold these powers that be accountable once they’re in office, as though they ever have responded to those attempts with anything other than mild shrugs at best, and state sanctioned violence at worst.

This may be a big or small issue to some, but there is an interview of Judge Joe Brown meeting Kamala’s father, talking about her father’s ethnicity and ancestry. If it’s true that Kamala is not black from any continent how would that change the narrative of her campaign and even her career in politics? I’m just curious on other thoughts on this hypothetically.

It feels like we are being told to lie and pretend Kamala is a candidate to be excited about, just so she could maybe beat trump.
