best shop apron / apron for woodworking
Drop the music; I have a play list for that.
I tried to look through the remarks already left to see if this had been mentioned and did not see it so... Concerning index marks to set the drill stop collar, on the left side of the storage space there are three index marks space out to correspond to the 1/2, 3/4 and 1-1/2 inch positions. They just aren't painted white for visibility. So yes they are there but just more or less hidden.
From your video, I think I’ll be looking into getting this one. Thank you
Thank you. I find it to be a super handy tool. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment
Very interesting video, thank you.
Did this project in shop class in high school. I made mine 8 feet long! It took a LONG time!
I have and have used a handful of pocket hole jigs and I have found the Milescraft 400 is the best all around - and for many reasons. One of the biggest pluses is that they use Torx driver and screws! Also the price is a LOT LESS than the other brands. The handy onboard drawer is also another fantastic innovation! If I could only have one pocket hole jig it would be the Milescraft 400 - it's now the only one I use.
Nice!!
Thanks brother
Good job and project thx for sharing Hope you are doing well and hope to see longer videos and builds God Bless
Thank you Larry. I'm hoping to start up again soon. It has be a fairly busy time for me right now. Thanks for taking the time to comment. God Bless you as well.
Thx
Watched three videos on this topic. This is only one of the three that had it ALL. Best looking chain too!
Thank you very much. I've always had a great deal of respect for someone who can hand carve one. I'm glad it was helpful. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. I really appreciate that.
awesome project...thanks for sharing. BTW what did you use for the screws??
Cool Geoffery, I'm glad you got something out of it. I believe I used 1 5/8 outdoor screws. Some kind of coating. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. 👍
My Dad made 2 of these with his pocket knife. One had a 4 post box at the end with little balls whittled out inside this box.
Thats fantastic. I knowit started out as a hand carving design. I can't even imagine how long that would take. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. 👍
Still missing your videos and commentary, Mike. God bless you and your family.
Thank you PTEddie. I'm missing all the comments and back and forth. I hope you're doing well. I'd like to make some more videos. God bless you and yours as well. Thanks for reaching out. Great to hear from you.
What a great review! Thanks so much. I really liked your improvisation to make this a sturdy and rigid tool. Great message at the end too. Thanks!
Thank you Ed. I'm glad it was helpful. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. 👍
Thanks! New subscriber.
Thanks Ed. Welcome. Glad to have you along for the ride. I have taken a break for a while, but I plan on posting some videos soon. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. I appreciate that.
Great video! Band saws are my favorite machines by far! I have a Craftsman tilt head that I put a Carter stabalizer on. I scroll and sculpt toys, puzzles, letters you name it. A 1/8th 14 TPI blade with the stabalizer is so versitle that I call it the worlds largest scroll saw lol. I keep a second standard model craftsmen for thicker cuts. They do everything that I need. Neither are the smoothest resawers in the world at all but I also have a planer and jointer so that takes care of that in about 3 minutes.
Thank you Tim, I made this video about 2 years ago. I have learned so much more in the last few years. I think I have a tendency to favor the "new tools" I've purchased. I still think it's a good band saw for the money. I can really appreciate the setup you ate using. Sounds like an excellent use of both tools. I love the idea of a giant scroll saw. Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment. I really appreciate that.
I miss you, Sir - I hope all is better with you and yours! 👊
Does the table tilt to make angle cuts?
Yes, it does tilt for angel cuts.
Awesòme. Thnx!
Your welcome. Hopefully this helps.
Massca - how do line it up, where are the scribe - line up lines
Brilliant video, i was googling how to carve out a figure eight knot, and your video has been a super great help to me. Your step by step process and your end clip @ 6min, showing the different stages is so easy to follow. The tip about cutting along the sides is a great and ill be certainly doing this. thanks again
Thanks so much Eddie. The video hasn't preformed as I originally had hoped. But I'm glad it was a help to you. If you don't mind, please send me a picture of your project at woodcraft716@gmail.com I would realy like to see it. Best of luck, and stay safe.
How many 1x10 and tongue and groove boards do you use for each planter
I used 2=1x10x8' and cut into strips. I used 5= toung and groove. thanks for watching.
I like this and has given me an idea. Too bad I can share it with you when done.
Thank you great gramps. This one oneof my first videos. You absolutely can share with me. Woodcraft716@gmail.com I'd love to see your project when you're ready.
Thank you for sharing
Thank you Albert.
Great idea. I’m going to do the same to my project. Thanks and keep it up.
Thanks Mike. I use primarily construction grade wood. So movement is always a concern. Never want to sell a project that wobbles when the customer gets home. Small price to pay for a quality product. I also mention it whenever a new customer calls. "I use adjustable felt padded feet to protect any floor " something like that. Thanks for the comment. I appreciate that.
Hello! I would like to make your planter boxes, could you tell me the lumber I would need for the small planter boxes? Thank you!
thanks , just what i needed!!
Thanks Mike. 👍 hope it was helpful.
Great video
Thank you @snteevveetns. I hope it was helpful. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. I appreciate that.
Do not understand your mounting issue. If you are mounting it with the wings there are 2 holes in each wing attachment piece to mount to a board. Not only does this work, it has the advantage of allowing you to remove the main unit by sliding it free of the plastic mounts and use it with the clamp without the wings. Lots of time spent talking about a misunderstanding on your part, not an issue with Kreg's design. Also, slopiness in the wings is overcome by screwing them down, but as far a repeatable accuracy, I don't use pocket holes requiring that level of accuracy and am not sure I ever will. So far the stop on the wing has worked fine. Othe rthan those two issues, useful review, thank you.
Right on. Thanks for the comment. I made this video literally the day I received my pre-order 720. I've been told over the last year about my mistake in mounting. Originally, I thought you screwed the jig body down. After it was brought to my attention that it was an eyelet for mounting screws, and the jig slides on and off. That's when it all made sense. Also, as far as the repeatability with the side stop. I haven't used it either. Again, I was trying to be thorough with a new tool. I guess I had rushed to bethe first to get the video out. I always admit when I am wrong. No exception here. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment.
Excellent video my friend thank you for helping me make my decision!
Thank you James. I'm glad it helps. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. 👍
Great Job and easy to follow directions
Thank you Joe. I'm sorry it took so long to respond, I just saw your comment today.
I’d buy the M2 because of its durability unless I were making cabinets, then I’d buy the 720 because of the closer two-pocket holes option the other two don’t have. I would have liked to see the pocket holes cut into different materials other than construction lumber. I’ve heard the 720 makes the cleanest, splinter-free pocket holes because it clamps tight with downward pressure as well. Thank you for the video!
I also went with the Armor tool.
I’m looking for a bandsaw, one that’s versatile meaning I can resaw stock, make electric guitar blanks, table legs with complex angles and tapers, etc. I’m so scared to commit to anything that wouldn’t be able to do all those things but I obviously can’t afford a jet or really $800 and up is pushing it for me. I’ve bought cheap tools in the past only to wind up getting the bigger better ones and I don’t want to make that mistake here. I’m not professional but would hope to one day be able to make money off of all this investment. Would this bandsaw be versatile and powerful enough to be worth the investment?
Hello. So there is more than one way to look at this. For example I own two band saws and neither are "considered" to be great bandsaws like a big JET etc. Both are old Craftsman. One is a tilt head single speed and the other is a standard model. Both are 12". Both take an 80" blade so all my blades are interchangeable which is one of the primary reasons I have gone this route so far. Another reason is that I upgraded the tilt head with a carter stabalizer and I use it for scrolling cuts. Let me tell you it is awesome! The tilt head option is also awesome and unique. I keep a half inch 3 TPI blade on the other one for bigger cuts. I have resawn 2x6 stock on both saws. I have zero need to go bigger. Having the two set up for different guides and cuts is an invaluable time saver on switching guides and blades. The combined total I spent to purchase both saws was about a whopping $100. You can definetly find these saws for $50-100 a piece and even less. I scowered FB market place then picked and negotiated great deals. The standard model saw came with more than 20 blades. I put new tires on both and tacked them down with hair spray. Everyday I turn my band saws on and get to work is a really good day. I have also seen 14" central machinery bandsaws listed for $100. There is a learning curve with bandsaws but its worth it! Theres also lots of great info videos on bandsaws like this one on youtube. I hope this encourages you!
You quit??
I am planning to get one of these when the weather warms up a bit. I had a bandsaw previously and I found i used it on every project.
Been using a Kreg K5 for many years. One feature I like about it is that it has two storage compartments that slide into dovetails on the drilling base that also function as support extensions for longer material. I keep the standard drill bits and related items in one compartment, and the micro bit in the other. I wish it had the locking mechanism of the 720. If you do a lot of face frames, the drill spacing on the Kreg makes its simple. If the Massca had this feature (don't see why Massca can't modify a future model) I'd replace my K5 with the Massca. One drawback to all it seems is the screw length for what passes as 3/4 plywood nowadays...always need to jack with the stop collar setting to keep the screw from popping through the backside of the material...reat PITA.
Wow is it easy to do without any power tools?
The procedure is the same. But the time.... the time it would take to do it by hand. I can only imagine. But we'll worthwhile. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. 👍
I can’t find any smaller than these, I want to taper my bathroom vanity legs but my contractor asked me to install feet levelers just incase the floor is wonky and I want whatever leg leveler recessed or hidden but I can’t find any that are small enough and tough enough because this vanity will have a solid quartz top so I may have to give up on tapered legs
Отлично! ❤
Thank you.
Good review but you dialog is a little hard to hear over the music. Suggest you delete the music. Thanks.
Hit the nail on the head with the directions I’m in the middle of assembling mine
I hope your saw assembly went as well as could be expected. Lol. I hope this video helps a little. It's probably over a year old. But hopefully still has value. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. 👍
You are correct on the gloves!
For sure, I've seen too many accidents wearing gloves. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment.
I agree with your decision
Thanks Joe. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. 👍
Nice Mike... missed ya brother hope your well?
Thanks Tom. Just getting back into it again. Great to hear from you. Hope all is well on your end.
Thanks for sharing your knowledge with your audience. Not only are you a skilled carpenter but also a great teacher. Keep up the great work. 👍
Thank you very much, Uncle Sam Jr. I really appreciate that. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. Thats awesome.
Love the music! What is it?
Thanks RY. It's the Electric Light Orcastra. I think it's called "Mr Blue Sky "
Like your shorts but would love to see a full build
Thank you Donald, I'm trying to put together some longer build videos. This was a Saturday afternoon little project. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment.
