I think a series following this concept from starting with $200 to being able to make a full time income from woodworking would do great! It seems that everyone that starts a series like this ends up not following through with it. Great video as usual. Love your signature cedar stain and black paint on your outdoor projects. One suggestion; wanted to build a generator enclosure and can’t find good videos anywhere. They are similar to a garbage bin. I can’t see spending $350 for a plastic bin that I’d have to cut up and put lots of money into soundproofing and ventilation equipment. A simple double door opening and roof opening would stand out in a search. Just a thought...

    I'm going to build this project.
    I have a few of the tools; I just need to see if I can get some straight boards at a reasonable price locally.
    Will staining before gluing effect strength of glue? I assume if I were to paint the bench, that would effect glue bond.
    Keep us posted on the sale of the bench.

    Another great video, can't wait to hear what you make off the bench. Nice simple design that looks solid, I will have to add this one to my idea list.
    Those look like standard HT 2x4, did you apply any kind of sealer over the stain since it will be outdoors? I haven't built any outdoor projects yet, but I know other videos stress using cedar OR applying several coats of sealer, wondering if it's as critical as they say.
    Keep it up, love the channel.

    • @Woodcraft716
      @Woodcraft716  3 года назад +1

      Thanks Chris, I did use HT 2x4. And I also didn't use weather sealer. But I have made a bunch of outdoor furniture and just used stain. It seems to me to hold up fine. I do recommend a sealer, but for this video I was trying to keep it under $200.
      I should have mentioned that you may have to stain it every 2 years or so. But, I do believe it will last. Thanks for your comment and good luck with the contest. 👍

      @@Woodcraft716 But at least you know now as you build that "how to get started wood working" video can make the high recommendation for sander. I may just go pick up a 2nd Bauer ROS and set it aside for a giveaway since it's half off right now. You including pencil spacers in the giveaway? lol

    Nice video! Thanks for paying it forward! I'm newer to the community (past 6 months) and have enjoyed your "simple" builds for beginners. I actually learned how to use the speed square from this video - can you say NOVICE?? If I won, I would definitely attempt this build and send you pics :) But I have an electric hand sander and would definitely cheat with that!

      Thank you Faith Art. What a nice comment. I'm glad you learned how to use the square. Now you can put that in your toolbox of talent. You will learn many tips and tricks along your journey. I'm glad to have helped. And. If I make this bench again, I'll use the tools I have to make it the fastest way I can. Lol. Its not cheating, it's being efficient. Thanks for watching and the nice comment. Good luck with the contest 👍

    I kinda figured that's what you were gonna do Mike... My wife is still waiting for a bench, I had made 3 and sold them all before the finish was dry ... thats when I decided I could be a woodworker... New shop sb Soon as we close on the Refi today... if I did win I would give the saw away and take the drill to work as mine doesn't have a hammer function and I'm always drilling into brick or concrete... hope you and the Mrs. Have a good holiday Mike, and just like that I'm out lol.

      Great question Ben. I sell on FB with addsi pay to run. Some people sell on marketplace. I also have a 10x10ft. Area at a consignment shop. Craft shows and fiea markets are always a good choice. Or possibly start a website. That would be my advice. Hope that helped.
