My name is Richard and this is my new channel, A Bit Rich.
It's just a little bit of me and the things I enjoy.
Here I will take you with me as I share some of my experiences and adventures, usually with my trusty partner Paula by my side.
I will be packing my camera and drone to produce a whole range of content that will include running videos, including our parkrun journey and various races, football vlogs and stories, product reviews and much more besides.

Very interesting to see people like this so much, I wasn’t a fan when I did it last year! I think it’s because on the narrow part, 3 people almost ran into me and it just felt too tight and narrow. It’s a lovely place though. Well done in the time, back to brilliant form! 👌
@@DeeJay_78 Thank you. Yes it is tight on the railway section and it was busy yesterday but I didn't really have an issue with it. However I can see how it could cause problems if you're wanting to overtake. It is beautiful though and flat!

Hi Rich, after watching your recent video where you were struggling with the chest infection, 52 minutes is excellent, I do the Sale Sizzler series every summer where we also start and finish on the track. There’s a couple of videos I’ve done on the SS😊
@@AndyCliffMTB thank you Andy, I will check out those videos, I love running on the track. I have mixed feelings about my time, I was shocked I did that well but equally it is a PB course and I'd been training for that PB. Maybe next year...

@@AndyCliffMTB funnily enough when I got to 8k and was struggling I did think, I need to beat 1:06 so I have to keep going!

Do you find the HB very unsettled when starting to record ? I find for the first 20 seconds its all over the place before settling down.
@@esrider7765 yes, you need to start recording before you actually want to. I had to edit out the start of every clip. Plus thy stabilisation was terrible in low light
@@abitrich68 ok, thought that was the case. I am talking to DJI about this and shared a video with them with problem. Hopefully next firmware update will fix this ??
@@esrider7765 yes I hope so. I think this is the problem with buying when first released, you experience all the problems. Looking forward to the firmware update to see what improvements they make
@@abitrich68 I must admit a bit disappointed at this, I still have 2 weeks in return period. As mentioned I have emailed the admin at DJI forum to look at video. I still have the action 4 which I had sold on ebay but due to courier mess up came back to me.

Man, that didn't say 1 sec off a PR did it? Well done though Rich. 10k never feels easy does it, if its flat its fast and if its hilly its just hilly.
@@Leo_Therious it was 31 seconds over my PB but in the circumstances I'll take it.
Great running Rich. My friends have told me to keep avoiding this one because it’s so tough! I will definitely give it a go soon though. Fantastic time for this course given your recent chest infection. Very well done and all the very best for Jarrow tomorrow. Enjoy it and I hope you run well
@@DeeJay_78 Thank you, yes it is tough and I was avoiding it too, especially as I'm not keen on 3 lap courses. But this is really 2 laps plus a little loop and is no way as bad as I imagined. You'll enjoy it, just don't expect a PB

Yes it was a tough one but a lovely route. Oddly I did the exact same time at both Jesmond Dene and Silksworth!
@@abitrich68 I was a couple of minutes slower around Jesmond Dene, that hill start got me.. Not done Silksworth yet but it's on the list of N.E ones to do
@@OpelFruits676 Silksworth is nice, only one hill towards the end but it is a tough one
One parkrun I would recommend is Hackworth Parkrun
Yes, we will be visiting that one at some point. Heard it is another hilly one
You should do Whickham FC, 1981 FA Vase Winners and are the last North East team to win a final at the old Wembley
Did Jarrow last year, it's a fairly flat course so you should be ok ! Just enjoy the day

Hi Rich, chest infections are nasty, affecting our lungs, our engine so it’s no surprise you struggled. I struggled at Vitality 10K and its dispiriting but I suggest you just go and enjoy Jarrow, skip today’s run and do a shakeout tomorrow for Parkrun 20th anniversary😊
@@AndyCliffMTB thank you Andy. Yes, it's just taken more out of me than I realised. I'll do parkrun tomorrow and see how I feel. Might just have to do Jarrow for the experience rather than the time. Was training for a PB so it's so disappointing 😞

Sorry to hear you've been ill Rich. I was out for 2 weeks with Covid, and it surprisingly didn't affect my running or my times too much. Reckon you might surprise yourself on Sunday at Jarrow. Good running, wish you all the best 🙂

Thank you for this video, & for sharing this heartbreaking situation, I was there last week to run in this most incredible of races, but I live in Portugal & had to return last Monday, otherwise I would definitely have been there to Run For Sam, I send my heartfelt condolences to his family & friends. Great video capturing some of the magic of #runforsam. I caught a couple of glimpses myself running my boy in his wheelchair as I was trying to catch the start at Souter. I was one of the later runners to finish, by which time the sheer amount of finishers that all stuck around to bring us over the line was immense. My most emotional finish line to date for sure.

@@DeeJay_78 sadly not this year. I'm a little disappointed I didn't enter now but my focus the year has been on the shorter distances. Maybe next year I'll do it again. But I said that last year 🙄

@@DeeJay_78 I did it in 2018, 2019 and 2021. I love the event but getting away from South Shields is awful. That's what puts me off. I did 21 as the finish was on Town Moor. Much better and they should do it that way every year
Will it power from the cars usb charger?
Yes, the camara will charge using a USB charging cable plugged into the car

@abitrich68 I put on a burst of speed when I saw the finish line....turns out it was the Tail Walker and I still had a couple of hundred metres to go!
@@pakcross I had nothing left at the end as I set off way to quickly. But I managed to sneak under 24 so delighted with that
@abitrich68 excellent stuff! Strava told me it was my 2nd fastest 5k, but Parkrun says 3rd. I always find new courses are good for pushing new time goals

Great video Rich, drone footage gives real perspective, I’ve been to Fountains Abbey before but only as a NT member. Sub-24 is a great time on that undulating course✅

Played all my football as a kid by the padding pool , 2 hours a game and next goal the winner. Glad you found Mallorie Park Home of Ripon City AFC, played many a game on their as well.
