The steer seems to be very busy.He seems like he wants to jump but, is afraid to it. I hope the steer stays put and doesn't get out. This steer seems to think he can out smart you. Love the video be and stay save I don't think the steer will come down without being with or near the mom. I have a question to ask I know when with mom he uses his sense of smell to find her. How far away can you say a calf can pick up the smell of their parent without them crying out for the calf? Sorry long question but, just wanna know what you have noticed or seen on your ranch. Thank you!

When u letting the cows back in the pasture looks like u had it cut off pipe u need cut rest off before they hurt themselves daily when u cut pipe make sure the pipes r clean and smooth
You are correct. I moved the cows to the south pasture. I hadn't cut any pipe. So they were ok.
@@PrideRanch i seen where u open the gate let the cows out i seen pipe had seen pipe on top and had pipe welded then had some cut except the top in the side of it, the middle section was cut Where you had the gate sit you had somebody was cut it I had stuff sticking out on the side of the pipe
Why u putting his mom in the weaning with the other calves for he want in there more make him want jump out or hurt himself if he was my calve i would put him in a trailer and take him to town i always weaned my calves i put my cow’s always from the calves if they don’t see each other they do good if they see each other make it worse i don’t tell people how do there ranch do whatever works for u
You are not wrong. Time. Time is a limiting factor for me. In my part of the world there isn't a sale everyday of the week. So I have to wait until the sale. And then I take the cattle to the sale. I put the mom in a location that would not impact my neighbor's sleep. Land is also a limiting resource for me. I don't have the space to move cattle and weaned calves like you mentioned.

I am from Oklahoma i have cattle ranch 6,000 acres i own and paid for i got bout over 880 mama cows and 400 breed heifers i bought last week i have brangus Bradford beefmaster Angus Charley Some black balds Some Hartford and own other business knocking down trees and buildings i can make driveway and ponds anything u want done i can do it for u

Do you have a spring calves too?
Spring 2024 was the last time I will have spring calves. At least that is the plan. I currently have 5 heifers that was exposed to Dinero. IF I get them sold before calving, I'll sell them. If not, I'll keep the heifers and sell their calves.

@@PrideRanch they will I had a little one in my tank with guppies and gold fish the algie eater ate them all after he killed them I herd the splashing while I were in bed so I came into the kitchen to see he was knocking fire I sat there and watch him with in one year he was about a foot long I traded him for some guppies that’s what I have in my tank now .

So they’re still mating or am I missing something? I remember seeing a previous video where you allowed the bull to roam with the females for mating
Thanks for the question!! :-) Yes and no! :-) Yes you saw a cow attempt to mount another cow in heat. So we know she is not pregnant. No they are not mating because Dinero is locked up in the corral and will not be released until December 1, 2024. The previous video was Dinero breeding with 5 heifers only. The remaining will take place in December.

So, is it just this one you are gonna get rid of the first time it got out? I know like children it is easy to mimic behavior or just be curious. Is it possible the mom went down to theweaning area and help the steer to get out or even show it how to get out? I know you don't need the others learning a bad habit but, maybe just bring the steer back to at least see how it got out. I hope I am not suggesting something and then I hear you at the end say the same thing. Thank you for always responding.
I didn't think of those possibilities. I just didn't see where my fence was damaged. And the gate can't be opened by the steer or the cow. So I'm making a logical conclusion that it jumped. IF I had more time to spare, I would give it a second chance. I did this 3 times last season with one of my heifer calves. lol.lol.lol. BUT this steer is too hyper for me to work with.

Those cows know you care by your tone it is in your voice like raising your children.
