2024 TACOMA VS 2023 TACOMA PRO OFFROADING TEST! Which one is the winner!?
Просмотров 15 тыс.4 месяца назад
We took my 2024 tacoma TRD off-road and Andrew's 2023 Tacoma Pro to a rough trail here in southern Utah to test offroad capabilities. The 24s transmission got hot at one point but that may have been due to user incompetence. The old reliable 23 had no issues but seemed to not perform as well in 4 Low.

HERE IS IT! Our first 2024 TUNDRA PRO IN TERRA!
I hope that you did a break-in oil change around 1k miles too. That drain plug looks odd as it's not at the bottom of the pan. It will leave old oil in it on every oil change and any debris in the bottom of the pan won't drain out. Very odd indeed. Also always pre-fill your oil filter as it helps build oil pressure faster.
Messed up all are v4
Most of my cars have 10k mile oil changes. Whether I use, Dino or Synthetic, they go 10k miles. You want to change oil at 3k, or 5k? You do you.
Perfect! Thank you.
Also the glove box springs are on multiple models and it does orevent rattling. It's like this on my GR86 as well as my wife's Forester 7:43
To pull from what another crator or comment said, a 2024 turbo engine isn't a 1984 turbo engine. Manufacturers arent just slapping a turbo on a motor that isnt meant to have one. They have the proper internals to handle it. Toyota has also been conservative on the power figures their turbo motors are putting out and theres likely room to grow in the aftermarket. It's likely that Toyota does this specifically for better reliability. People just want to complain but have never actually driven one to see the improvements in responsiveness over the previous generation. Do yourself a favor and test drive the new power plant and the hybrid version and then make a fair comparison. But it's a fair assumption that Toyota's engineers know a fair bit more about what theyre doing than your average keyboard mechanic in the RUclips comment section. As for me, im giving Toyota the benefit of the doubt. If theres a major priblem, thats ehat my warranty is for. Picking up a TRD Off Road with premium package this weekend
3/5 of the items were about the options/packaging.
Your rear seats flip up?
Yes. The seats flip up in the 24s
People need to understand that the swap from v6 to turbo i4 is for EMISSIONS!!! Trucks get heavier and weaker for emissions and crash testing. We are going past the golden age of fuel injection combustion engines into a dark age. 😢
Well we won't have to worry much longer once Trump dismantles the EPA. The only issue after we revert back to the V6 is how to bring back manufacturing to the US from Mexico.
Paid for by Toyota. Crap cars now.
Toyota becomes like Stellantis, Ford, and GM. Garbage
Ooohhkay… that’s a little aggressive😂 I’ve heard lots of toyota hate comments but this one is for sure the most dramatic 😂 toyota has their issues but they are not even in the same conversation as Stellantis. 😂
I thought this ENTIRE time it was broken
my second gen would do that no issues in 4 lo or Hi .
I drove one. The power delivery is perfect. And the new suspension is far superior to my 2020 v6 TRD off-road. Ordered one immediately.
i checked any youtube channel if see more 2024 tacoma backup assist autopilot nothing on list. I checked internet they said “ No, the 2024 Toyota Tacoma does not have trailer autopilot assist”
Weird. It is an option on TRD premiums and up.
Have you notice a stranger harmonic vibration noise in the cabin while low rpm shifts?
Do you notice and strange harmonic vibration noises in tbe cabin While shifting at low rpms?
I can’t say I do.
65k might as well buy a v8
I just bought the bronze wheels from the trailhunter for my trd off road. Paired with some a/t4w tires, I can’t wait to see how it’s gonna look! I really like the bronze contrast with the white paint. I may end up needing some slightly wider fender flares, but I think rough country makes some OEMish looking ones that will fit nicely.
That will look sick! I like a little offset so I wouldn’t even get bigger flares. I’d just run it😂
@@counterfeitcowboy1362 it’s about an inch of poke, but it might not be too bad. Mostly concerned with kicking up rocks and whatnot. I already swapped out the original exhaust for the axle dump and I’m appreciating the extra room for activities in the back. The OEM one was about $100 shipped… well worth it
This car just needs a HUD a cooled seat option + memory seats and it’s solid asf
I got a Limited! I'd like to lift it somewhat, maybe 2.5 inches to 3 inches. To get rid of the gravel throwing Michellin SST tires. They're chipping up my rear fender flares. Then go with a set of Toyo Open County III AT 6-ply tires. On the stock rims! I don't wanna be cutting or taking off the crash bars. I've seen a couple of videos on RUclips. Where Carl Malone Toyota in Utah has used both the Readylift 2.5 and 3 inch SST lifts. I called them the other day. Asked them if there were any issues with the AVS. They said no! Also, they said I could put 285/70r18s on the truck using the stock rims without any issues. What's your opinion on this? Thanks for any advice.....
I think you should be ok with the lifts Karl Malone has used. We did a limited the other day and I think it was a ready lift. It looked awesome! As for your fenders idk if there’s any way around that. If you go watch my 2700 mile update video, I talk about the fenders getting chewed up. I did put some own sliders on after that video and I do notice a lot less rocks hitting the truck.
My dude .. laugh awayyy if you insist or want to😂 (because you apologized for laughing normally)
Like the content, Time to change my oil. Thanks, helpful
Thanks for watching! Glad you liked it!
20 yrs old land cruiser not launched in US / Canada still looks way better than this new 2024 model.....this new 2024 land cruiser the curve on window that goes from rear door window to the trunk small wimdow...thats the ugliest part...why cannot toyota let that line go straight
Did you have to turn off any of the sensors?
I did not. You just push the trailer button and you’re good to go
I am just watching video to confirm my 4Runner wasn’t having a catostropic failure😂😂
It does sound like a catastrophic failure for sure😂😂
You look cramped under there. Get some ramps. I just changed the oil on my 2024 Sport last week. Drove it half way up my ramps and had plenty of room to maneuver. So much easier.
have a 2023 TRD 4x4 you can buy for $100 grand!
you talk too much
I bought the land cruiser. I was told the hybrid setup is made for performance not efficiency.
That is correct
A very good video. I'm torn between the CCH XSE and the Rav4 hybrid XSE. I want them fully loaded as this will be my car for the next 10 years. You are correct, it's about $8k difference. Or $2.19 a day difference spread out over 10 years. What I like about the CCH: smaller size that is easier to maneuver in city traffic and parking lots. And the better fuel economy. What I don't like is the lack of a spare tire and the rear seats not completely folding flat. What I like about the Rav4 hybrid: has a spare tire, rear seats fold down flatter, still gets very good fuel economy. Has more features and options such as a 10.5" display, 12.3" gauge cluster, panoramic view monitor, digital rear view mirror. And has more interior room.
Great that the fox shocks won’t get hot. It’s a shame that the transmission will.
Don’t listen to Toyota, just do the oil change every 5k miles
Just picked up a 24 offroad. Thanks for the video. Have Lazfit floor liners coming. Switchbacks would be a nice addition.
These continue to impress. Looking. Forward to getting one.
I start feeling uneasy after 3000 and am usually changed by 4000 miles even with full synthetic. Do I overspend on oil? Probably but I feel better and it’s my money.
Exactly! Oil is cheaper than motors
Have you scraped your lower link mounts yet?
No? What do you mean
@@counterfeitcowboy1362like under the truck, lol I have one too and I’m debating on ordering the lower link skids. Figured I’d ask if you have scraped yours out on the trail yet lol
@@tagurit9123 oh gotcha. No I haven’t yet. I thought for sure I would scrape something on the toquerville falls trail that I made a video of. But I didn’t hit anything
@@counterfeitcowboy1362ok sweet I’m gonna go check that video out and yeah I’ve been worried so I haven’t hit anything yet hahaha
lol yeah go watch that. It looks pretty mild on camera but the rocks are pretty big. Some skids on that low point wouldn’t be a bad idea tho!
I’d love to see if you ever weigh the truck what it comes out to! From what I’ve seen the doors on the crew cab 4wds all say 1200 or 1270, but obviously they weigh different amounts. Toyotas website also mentions payload being limited by weight distribution on some cab/bed configurations, which leads me to believe that the gvwr-curb weight may not actually be 1200 exactly. I’m betting that unless the gvwr changes a lot between options added, they used the payload sticker for a loaded trd off road with moonroof etc. Someone on the forums weighed his and the difference between curb weight and gvwr was like 1500lb, he claimed. Be interesting to find out if you ever get the chance!
Toyota oil is dark, switched to Amsoil on my Rav4,its so clear its not easy to see on the dipstick!
did bro really not know how to divide 600 by 3 lmao. 200 dude damn
I had stage fright.
@@counterfeitcowboy1362 your good, I am just memeing haha I would have had the same problem I probably would have not been able to do as much as you tbh.
lol no worries. I’m not saying I’m some mathematician. But filming definitely makes it harder😂 I used to watch RUclipsrs and think “man, all I have to do is film the stuff I like doing and I could be one of them.” Brother im here to tell ya. Filming makes even an ordinary task 3 times harder😂 my last video is of an oil change I did on my Tacoma and it took easily 3 times longer than it should have. Anyway, thanks for watching!

Say what you want about the third gen, but mine has got me everywhere so far.
Just got mine, drives smooth and hauls ass when you need it to, easy driving that feels safe
That’s awesome. Congratulations!
@@counterfeitcowboy1362 gracias! 4x4 sr ❤️
Same here just got my 2024 SR 4x4 couple days ago…I love it!
I'll give Toyota credit for not using cartridge filter.
You can't off road! I have a 23 trd off road. I did better with a '22 Durango rental with about 8" of clearance at best. Put yer work boots away! 12:10
