Prusa XL Tool 5 Spool Join Extreme
Here I am testing to see how the Spool Join goes when I turn all my side sensors off.
Spoiler Alert! I highly recommend turning them off if you want to get the most out of a spool of filament. I see no reason to have them on anymore.

Prusa XL Replace Docks

When I first got my printer the docks were a major pain to install. I decided to file them down a bit to make them fit and over did it. This caused issues with tool changes that would cause failed prints. Prusa just recently made the spare parts available and I ordered replacements. This is the video of those being installed and the calibration after the fact.

    This has been helpful as I figure out how to build this. But it's also been really frustrating ... your camera angles have your hands in the way most of the time, you don't show the finished product at the end, you don't describe the components in enough detail. I appreciate you doing it, just hard to wade through all of that and never see the angle or get the description I am looking for.

      The XL has a filament sensor that is about 30+ inches away from the Extruder. Unless you disable the sensor you cannot use the remaining bit of filament on the spool. You're lucky it came off the spool and didn't jam in the PTFE. I did the same thing not long ago, and while it did pull it off the spool, the bend was too harsh to pull into the PTFE so it jammed. The extruder did not detect anything was wrong, and ground a divot into the filament without stopping "printing." I've learned not to trust spool join unless I can access the end of the spool and free it from the spool and clip off the bent up part. Every time I risk it, I end up disappointed.

    • @Arcadenut1

    • @Arcadenut1
      @Arcadenut1 9 месяцев назад

      It might not need to park, but it does need to wipe the nozzle prior to starting the print again. On a really tall print, not sure what they would do since it would have to raise the bed to do a wipe then lower it back down. Maybe have it prime the nozzle then beep at you to manually clean it off and then press continue for it to go.

    I have this same issue with my MK4, when I add a manual filament change in the Prusa Slicer halfway the print (wanted my print top half other color than the bottom part). So annoying that after the purging procedure I say 'yes, continue please' and THEN its going to spit out very quickly a bunch of more filament which it then fuses to the rest of the print. Well, I now know to have my tweezers ready around the print nozzle while pressing 'Yes' and then quickly grap the extra filament spit. For my situation where I add a manual filament change I also solved this issue by adding two little print blocks that 'catch' that junk. See printables 601204 'text test'

      I would recommend contacting the creator of the BackBit and sending it to them. I'm just an end user of the device :)

    Is that not a 13" chassis? Does anybody sell that camera standoff part? thx

      According to the manual they are all the same chassis with a few minor variations in parts. Is there something that makes you think it's 13" that maybe I'm missing? I bought all my camera stands on Amazon.

      I was thinking that a chassis with that style width coil is either 19" with narrow neck pins or 13". Might be no help, sorry.@@Arcadenut1
