With a Swedish mother and a danish father I could switch from danish to Swedish without knowing it when I was at home. I can of course speak both, and according to what you called speaking with a potato in your throat, I feel it distinctly when I go from danish to Swedish it’s like suddenly feel that I got the premise to relax😊! An other thing is “rødgrød med fløde” that no others that danes can say! And try to make others than swedes to say “sju sjuka sjuksköterskor skjet på skjithuset” Sory! For danish it is what we call the soft d, and also the ø,æ,å…, with what we call the closed vokals! And for Swedish it is the “sch” sound! 😅

I'm Danish and I have never heard "tak for kaffe" (Thanks for coffee) used as an insult. In the country side it is common for people to socialize by inviting them over for coffee and when you leave you usually say "tak for kaffe" as a way of saying thanks for the company. It can be used as a way to imply that nothing will top something in craziness. In that context it means that the show is over so the viewers can just as well move on.

No one in Denmark says “we are getting a kid”. 😂 That’s the kind of stuff you make up when you don’t really understand the danish language. People say “we are having a child ”, but people might ask “did you get a child- if you translate directly from danish to english, which you should never do. If you were to use the word “have” with asking that question, it would sound like you asked if someone used to have a child.

Actually there is about 700 words in english that comes from danish. Words like knife (kniv) egg (æg), many english citties are still called something with “by” which is the danish Word for town, village or city, like Westerby which means Vesterby in danish.

I think if you consider the pregnancy in 'phases', the "getting a kid" phrase makes more sense. The mother "gets" a kid from the father to begin with, when the process is started, and the father "gets" a kid from the mother when the baby is delivered
