I have seen this before. In 2000 the western countries announced HIPC (highly indebted poor countries ) , an initiative for forgiving debt for African countries. My country Ghana under president Kuffuor got about $6b forgiven. What did they do with this gift? Today, our debt to GDP is over 100%. Our external debt is over $40b! Corrupt and incompetent governments do not deserve debt forgiveness. They deserve prosecution for economic crime! Afterwards the debt may be forgiven if they still so wish. Forgiving debts without accountability only perpetuates government lack of accountability and abuse of the economic rights of the people. Ghana political parties will only see this debt forgiveness are freedom to borrow more!🤨

The problem is not the loans the problem is high interest some 12% .
