Can you layer sounds with the triggers on the back for kick???
Yes. Every zone of every pad that is connected to the M12 can have up to 4 layers / samples / repeating notes.
You just put the eyebrows on my next private party gig. Cheers for days!
🙂
You don't show how to make your pads have a certain tone/sound.
@@timandrew1091 you’re correct. The reason being this video is just about getting the trigger settings correct. Nothing else.
This is the most comprehensive review and feature run through i have seen for these kits. Thanks for all the information in here.
No problem. Thanks for watching. Its even better now with the V2 firmware update!
Hi. I’d like to use the midi signal to control dmx mixer. Is it possible? Thans
Totally, but that's not to do with the M12 - that's to do with whatever DMX Controller you are using.
Bought one yesterday from Musicians friend... at 71, God help me on doing this. Looks too hard.
Just ordered one... don't think at 71 I can do this... lol
If u run stereo out from a mixer into the B input on the EAD, it uses all the microphones connected to your mixer for the EAD.
You also risk frying the output stage of the mixer as the EAD uses non standard phantom power through input B to power the sensor.
@edruminfo yes but It dosent backfeed, I checked with a meter, works like a charm.
What does mean 10 times left? What does happen if I want to use "separate tracks" option more than 10 times (for more than 10 songs)? Any clues? I already used it once so I have 9 times left.
The Rec'n'share app will allow you to use the track splitting function 10 times before the app needs connecting to a Yamaha device to be 'topped up' with another 10 times. This can be the EAD, or and current DTX model or a few other Yamaha amps and mixers. If you dont use the track splitting, you can carry on using the Rec'n'share app without any restrictions.
@edruminfo thanks! Have a nice day.
Finally somebody has explained it in a simple way! I can program 12 pad sounds and make up to 200 user kits! Thanks❤ gonna buy one within short period of time.
Good. Pleased I could help
Thanks for the video!! Very easy to understand
No problem. Thanks for watching.
Hi, Simon I'm Denny from Indonesia. I use this DTX Pro for NUX DM8 mesh for snare (I hope you know this China's mesh😅) But I can't find the right setting for this type of snare. My issues are : when I hit the rim, it's turns out with no sound. the rim came out with no sound. And the problem continues when I want hit with the rim shot. It's totally doesn't work. The sound only came from the head. The rim doesnt produce any sound. Or maybe I should to change the snare pad? Thanks Simon, and forgive me for my bad English
I have the app on android and cant add songs from google drive or youtube music etc. I still have to find ways to download song on my phone to use it :/
You can add music from anywhere AS LONG as you have a physical file of it. It wont work on streaming sites (it is against the licensing agreement) but if you have a file (wav, mp3 etc) of the track, it will work.
So if i have extra xp80 pads I can't use them as a dual zone toms on the dtxpro module because they're not piezo/piezo they're piezo/switch?
@@jameeldababneh4757 Exactly. The heads will work. The rims won’t.
@edruminfo but the snare input can read both piezo/piezo and piezo/switch right?
@@jameeldababneh4757 Correct
@@edruminfo thank you for your help🙏🏽 will this be the same case for the older dtx502 module or will the xp80 pad work as dual zone toms on it?
@ Hi. No problem. The same I’m afraid. If you want 3 zone toms you need to look at the DTX700 and DTX900 modules.
Thank you very much Simon! Really helpfull 🙏🙏
No problem. Pleased it helped
Is there a way for me to play a fully micd’ kit, but use rec n share to make quick drum covers rather than using the EAD module?
I start warming up to the DTX6 series. I was all in for the DTX8, but I figured, why would one need acoustic style shells for electronic drums? These shell don't contribute anything to the sound. I think electronic drum pads should be flat, like Simmons DSD V pads were. I currently have the Roland TD-7T, which I understand is not cutting edge today, but to me, personally, it's still amazing. Steve Fisher's demo of the TD-7 is still one of my favorite ones on RUclips. I guess, it all comes down to playing. Gear is nice and all, but it all comes down to the hands, and legs, in case of the drums. I was thinking of upgrading my TD-7 drum module to the TD-50x. But since the TD-50x went back from $2,200 to $2,900 I think I'd be better off buying the DTX6 for $1,900, then add one more tom pad, and maybe upgrade to the DTX PRO X further down the line. Another option would be TD17KVX2, but I am not sure about the TD-17 module. I mean, my TD-7 module seems more flexible in terms of trigger inputs. Another option is a 64-bit computer, to run some drum software. I downloaded the VSDSX 2 software from Aly James Lab. But I don't have a 64-bit computer to run it on. The lowest priced Mac laptop is $1,000-$1,100, plus the audio interface... Anyway, I haven't made my decision yet what to buy. I think I shouldn't probably buy anything, and just practice on my TD-7K, which quite honestly, it's pretty amazing.
Would a behringer p1 iem work as passive headphone mixer?
Question. Can you use this monitor set and have the EAD as the primary drum mike and send that to the house. If yes I would mange, you would just use the mono left jack on the EAD and send that to the mixing board. Is that correct? Thank you for your post.
I don't quite get what you mean. Yes, you can use this to mic the whole kit. Yes, you can send it to the FOH mixer. Yes, you can listen to yourself as a monitor at the same time. I personally wouldn't go mono - you'll get a much better audio experience if you monitor in stereo, and the same for FOH but it depends if your PA is in stereo or mono I guess.
@ you got what I was trying to ask. Thank you for responding.
Thank you, Yamaha, for adding new kits and updating the user interface! I’ve especially been wanting dead drum samples. It’s like you’ve been reading my mind. Can’t wait to get my firmware upgrade loaded up and start diving in.
Extremely helpful video. Thank you @simonedgoose. I have a question sort of related to DIY pads, but not identical to the topic. and that is the use of my Roland SPDSXXX pro with the GTX 10 pro X module. Basically the question is can I? The Roland is very useful for looping and sound effects and things of that nature, but the Yamaha has incredible acoustic kits. For musicals I’d like to use both. Is this possible using the MIDI in on the DTX-pro?
Hi. Yes it is, but what are you trying to achieve? You can use both simply by plugging the outputs of both devices into a mixer and doing it like that. Then you'll have the combined outputs going to the Front Of House. You can do more using MIDI, but there's no point unless you have a particular task you want to achieve which cant be achieved by the two products separately. If you can give me more of an idea about what you need to do, then I might be able to help.
Installed and loving it. Also the app. Very cool 👍
Thanks Simon! I did the update for my dtxpro, it sounds better than ever!
Very nice vide Mr Edgeoose! Can I use my DtX 12 as the pads in the same way?
You certainly can. Works great!
@@edruminfo can you make a short video? DTX is still being sold at Thomann! 😁
@@samsschool3639 You dont need a video. Just connect the USB 'To Host' on the M12 to the DTXpro or DTXproX USB 'To Device' with a USB cable. Turn on USB Trigger Link how I show in the video above. Thats it!
@@edruminfo Wow! thanks for the advice!
@@edruminfoWorks perfectly!
When I saved the update to my flash drive and connected it to my dtxpro module to update it it says file not found when starting the process after turning on the module when holding the start stop button, what can I do to fix this?
Use a smaller drive, but also have you unzipped the file?
Yes eventually I realized that I hadn’t unzipped the file and it worked, thanks Simon
Is it the MIDI cable we need to connect our laptop to the module for the update?
No. You load the update to a usb drive and put that in the module. No midi cable. No connecting your computer to the module. Just a usb drive.
Oh perfect then. Thanks Simon!
Cool! Snare with snares off?
On DTXproX, yes, but DTXpro, no, I'm afraid. However, it's pretty easy to come up with a decent snares off sound using the internal sounds of the DTXpro.
@edruminfo do you start with a tom?
@@williamblake one of the Jazz toms (10 or 12" depending on what you need), yes, and layer it with a Timbale.
This is great updates, thank you Simon!
I don't have a computer how can I add this to My dtxpro module, does anyone know ?
You need to find a friend with a computer and get it from them on a USB drive. Doesn't really work without a computer I'm afraid. If you can use your phone as a USB drive, that might work, but depends on the phone and the operating system.
Quite frankly, it’s Very illogical that the pro and pro x modules don’t support 2/3 zone Tom pads and snare pads especially for the price range. Yamaha, fix this in another update. Your competitors have 2 zone toms and 3 zone snare pads in even lower tier kits than what you sell. Do better.
You misunderstood. They DO have 2 zone tom pads and 3 zone snares on the DTXpro and DTXproX modules. However, the previous model (DTX900 and DTX700) had 3 zone toms (head and 2 rims) which use a completely different wiring system which it did not make economic sense to move over without the prices of the new kits rising dramatically. The DTX8 and 10 have exactly the same amount of zones as the equivalent Roland or Alesis (in some cases more). Just because you tried one iteration of the 6 range of kits, which does have single zone pads on the toms, and also has 3 zone snares as well, doesn't mean it carries on over the whole range.
@@edruminfo ah. Understood. Thanks for clarifying. 👍🏻 I genuinely thought the new tom pads were single zone only.
Wow, FANTASTIC news! Straight to my dtx6 to update it. Thanks for your amazing channel!
Why the snare sound not good? Still better the previous one, honestly. Tq
No one is forcing you to use the new ones. Use the older ones if you prefer them. They are still there.
I think the new sound snare not good/ still good the previous one
Then use the old ones. No one is forcing you to use the new ones.
Just wanted to say the new updates from Yamaha - Touch App, Firmware Updates etc are the best news Ive had all week!!
Thank you Simon, on the paper big update, I will try !!
Hi Simon, do you have a list of the 30 new kits? Cheers
If you go to the start of the official Yamaha V2 Firmware update video, we put a list on the left of the screen, but I think thats DTXproX only and the kits are different on the DTXpro.
Can you connect this kit using the module to a DAW like Reaper/Cubase ect to record the drum tracks as individual tracks so as to edit/mix on the DAW Considering getting the YAMAHA DTX10KXBF Any feedback would be appreciated Thnx in advance
The DTX10 has stereo audio over USB, not multitrack, but to be honest I would do what everyone does, and use a VSTi library on the computer like EZdrummer, Superior Drummer 3, Addictive Drums or BFD. These give you much greater control and power than ANY electronic kit (even those who tell you they are as good as a VSTi!) and you control it via MIDI. Much easier, much better audio quality.
When I try to access Apple Music it says “cannot access data” in red under each song. For my whole library, even if it’s downloaded to my phone instead of streaming. Can you help? I’m losing my mind. Thanks.
Hmmm... OK. Have you tried downloading the latest version of Rec'n'share (new version 7 days ago)?
@@edruminfo Yes. I have the latest version.
and I have found a few songs that do not say that, but when I click on them, it comes up saying Error: Failed to open the audio file. select another file.
@@SteveLyen I checked on mine and there's no issue opening from Apple Music, so I'm wondering if there's a subscription issue or something similar. I'm guessing you can listen to the tracks in the Apple Music app no problem?

initially worked on my Genos2 - but now its recording only the voc/mic plugged into G2 - no sound of the entire keyboard is recorded - where to find the issue? what to be changed in the APP or in G2 to record everything (again)?
That would suggest the connection is not working, nothing to do with the app. Are you using an Apple adapter or a cheap copy?

Does it support on oppo phone
I don't know. It depends if the phone is up to the demands of the app which are pretty high. Many Android phones are designed to do what the app requires of it. If you already have the phone, download the app and try it. Its free
Hi Simon , as a novice to this , how do you use the ead10 live without the microphones picking up other sounds on stage like guitar amps , fold backs etc ??? Many thanks

Since the DTX8 doesn't have BT built into the module, is there any reason you can't just plug in an inexpensive 3.5mm BT receiver to give it that capability?
Nothing at all! It works very well.
