    Beta = BAY-tuh. Betta = BET-tuh. I wish people would remember what we were taught in school. A consonant with a vowel on either side makes the first vowel a hard vowel. Two consonant surrounded by two vowels makes the first vowel soft.

    I can really not recommend clown loaches for aquarium. They get big. I have mine for 22 years now and they are still growing. Unless you have a HUGE aquarium like 110 inches+ you probably shouldn't get them. The difficult breeding/ecological situation only adds up to that. If I would have known better, I never started on them. But ... after 20+ years, they become family.

    Just about the zebra pleco I have to say please, please do NOT buy one if you have little to no experience in aquarium keeping and I wouldn’t recommend for a nano tank as the tanks are high maintenance and these are a highly endangered species due to the time it takes for them to reach sexual maturity. If you can’t keep a fish like this alive for 3 years to breed just please get another pleco

    Sorry there is a lot of mis information here .... You show cased 2 Hap cichlids with the Mbunas ( saohiree and dolphins are haps , and actually the one from lake Victoria is a gap as well ...) And it's the peacocks and haps that are Omnivores...mbuna's are strictly herbivores and can die if they get too much protein.... I enjoyed the video 👍

    I kept Hara jerdoni for years, and can confirm that they are not nocturnal and prefer to associate in groups. They eat small living foods such as Tubifex and bloodworm, even frozen foods. They are called stone catfish because they resemble the stone substrate of the streams they live in. Hara species (now reclassified as Erethistes) do not come from Indonesia. They are only known from India and Bangladesh. Jerdon didn't describe this species. Francis Day described this species in 1870 and named it in honour of Jerdon, who first collected it. The rules on nomenclature forbid people from naming species after themselves.

    Parotocinclus are also great! I have 3 Parotocinclus haroldoi (2 females, 1 male) in my 20 gallon. They don’t get bigger than 6cm and are very active. Even show themselves a lot during the day, seem to prefer to eat only at night though. Interesting coloring, individual sozial interactions between the single plecos, very hardy. Only eat green stuff though. Green algae wavers, leaves, crusta tabs and stuff go well. I love them very much and are hoping to be able to breed ‘em when I have time. The females already had eggs 2 times now in only a months time. Also wild caught from brasil though. Wish me luck breeding haha! Huge Parotocinclus fan hehe! Searching for some Parotocinclus Variola right now to add to my second tank.

    Plecos need wood! They don't really eat it intentionally but as they are grazing along looking for algae, they will ingest some wood fiber. It's quite important to their digestion/gut health.

      @@thefishfiles I’m not quite sure, I know you’ve been talking a lot about nano tanks. Maybe good fish for a community tank in the 35-55 rang or maybe some monster for a tank that size. I really like the vampire tetras, you said they get really large.Do you think they would do well in a school/shoal?I just got into fish keeping. It escalated quickly started with a 6gallon with one half moon Betta. Then realized it’s too small so I got a 35gallon. With 10 Black neon tetras some shrimp a mystery, snail, and the betta. Then found another 35 gallon end up with 2 angels fish 10 neon tetras a snail and shrimp. I’m open to suggestions and ideas. I know you’re a whole sale guy. But I find your information really good and you talk a little bit about each fish you show.

I had three CL of 3 inches in a 160 gal. 2 died with in 1/2 hour of exposure, one recovered with a fast water change. I had a 4 incher that jumped out one night

    You state you buy your Dojo Loaches from southwest Asia, but that they are native to Europe. The true Dojo Loach is native to much of Asia. They have been introduced to other areas around the world through both the aquarium and food fish trades. There are several closely related species found throughout Asia and Europe. They all look quite similar and display similar habits, so they are easily confused.

    Rosy red minnows, a feeder fish, eat cyanobacteria! No other fish, shrimp, or snail i know of would touch the thing. And theyre 10 for $1.00 USD here in california! I just wish they had a pleco mouth.

    • @henrylin6537
      @henrylin6537 3 дня назад

      Wait. Is this true? Did you see it happen? Because I have a 29 gallon that has huge cyno blooms while it was being setup. I did a blackout for 2 days and then 80% water change after. I added Rosy Red Minnows afterwards since they are hardy and I was afraid of any spikes due to the cyno. I saw some cyno reappear slightly on my java moss clumps. But after a week it went away. So your saying my minnows ate it?

    • @remhk6672
      @remhk6672 3 дня назад

      @henrylin6537 pretty much. I don't feed mine anything. They are getting big and fat off the cyanobacteria which my turtle tank produces a whole lot from all that uv lighting. The cyanobacteria occurs mostly on this big piece of driftwood I have in my turtle tank. It was completely covered with the stuff and the minnows just swarm it and start picking on it. I just wish they had mouths like a pleco or a hillstream loach.

    So... I was fooled into thinking I was buying assassin snails, which turend out to be trumpet snails in an assassin halloween costume. They took over my tank... At night you come in and there are hundreds in a 5 gallon tank. I was freaking out. I had no idea they had bred that fast. So I let it go... and I have no regrets (2 years later). My water is as clear as can be. To the point it can fool me into forgetting to do a water change. The snails hide during the day and clean at night. I have NO fish waste floating around on the bottom of my tank. I think sometimes you have to just let nature take its course. It's easy to want to change it. Love nerites... live forever. However, if for any reason you add salt to your water, they will breed, and leave eggs that do NOT come off of glass, rocks, etc. I had to throw wood out because it was covered with eggs.
