Awesome introduction to this family of fish! It's very helpful the you broke down the genuses we keep in the trade. And what a great mention on habitat destruction (among other things) that affect our hobby. Since entering the aquarium world I often wondered why very little money has been invested in fish vs chickens or cows and now we have a clearer picture on the strict husbandry of commercial aquaculture.
Certainly an intriguing group of fish. I have kept several species over the years but presently only have a few, including the Farlowella Vittata which i used to breed abundantly, but for whatever reason the pairs seem to be cannibalizing on the eggs during the embryo stage . I have not had a successful raising of fry in 3 years despite their conditions being maintained. The last batch of eggs last week has so far yielded one survivor...fingers crossed it lives 🤞
Talk to the Urological surgeons that had to remove the candiru from the one unfortunate guy in Brazil before you call it a myth. This surgery is well documented.
Educational and there’s jokes. Thanks for not taking yourself too seriously. I love fish keeping and I adore your channel.
Thanks for watching :) we appreciate the kind words.

Clicking on your video i thought "are there salt water catfish?" I would think no because they are scaless but idk. Raphael catfish weren't mentioned
The piraiba catfish gets 12 foot and is the biggest fresh water fish in the world
I have what I have been told is a tiger catfish, but cannot find a picture of it anywhere.
