Terry Vinson CCIEx2
США
Добавлен 15 май 2012
My mission is simple: I help network engineers and aspiring network engineers improve their skills in the software defined technology space.
My name is Terry Vinson and I'm a Dual CCIE & professional technical instructor. I work with Micronics Training as their official Datacenter Instructor. I develop classes, workshops and create lab guides and course materials.
I'm on a personal journey to help students navigate all of the intricacies of software defined LAN, WAN, Storage and Cloud Native Ecosystems.
Every week, I discuss technology and skill growth strategies (the stuff that really engages viewers). I also focus on the tools and software I use everyday such as EVE-NG, Python, Ansible & many more.
Sometimes you just need someone to take something that seems hard and break it down into a language that you can easily understand.

Watch me add a SDA Fabric to my lab for $200 Bucks: Building an affordable CCIE EI Home Lab (Part 5)

I have installed dnac-v2.3.7.5 as per your instructions but I cannot access it via GUI. Can you guide me please
How come you have 80 logical CPUS with E5-2698 v4 @ 2.20GHz ? I have got Poweredge R710 with Dual Xeon E5640 4 core / 8 thread 2.66 GHz, can I run that many processors, any option for me?
Not with that version of CPU. An E5-2698 v4 is a new CPU than the E5640, and it has 40 cores with two threads each, 40 cores x 2 CPU per R630 is 80, thus the 80 vcpu. Its not a setting or something you can do virtually. Sorry i don't have better news.
Thank you 😊
Great course so far. Terry, one question. Is there somewhere an overview what resources are available to sd geeks subscribers? Working on my CCIE and i will join your course with micronics, would love to get some additional resources :)
If you are preparing for the CCIE sd-geeks is overkill. I would not recommend you join. Cisco requires so little knowledge on SDA or SDWAN that it would dilute your efforts. I would just stick with the Micronics class. Later, once you get the CCIE you might want to consider signing up.
Hello Terry, I've had the CCNP for over 5 years now and just started my CCIE study journey. I would like to build a lab at home for the CCIE enterprise certification. Do you have a complete list of what's needed to do this? Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
No I don't at this time. I am working that out now to be honest. There have been some substantial changes in topics of focus in the current lab exam. I have been trying to create an outline to make sure what I recommend can cover all topic domains and features. So far I have been able to make it work in one server, but honestly things perform better if you Isolate the DNAC and ISE onto a standalone server. I'll update my recommendations and try to provide a complete set of detailed instructions in a week or so.
@@TerryVinsonCCIEx2 That would be great. I look forward to your detailed instructions. This is much appreciated 👏

Great! Hope you enjoy the content I'm proud of it.
Hi Terry, Many thanks for this giveaway announcement, very helpful. I recently come across a question, and searching for good/accurate answer, please help: "I organisation A is having running SDWAN and acquire another organisation B, how organisation A will integrated org B in sdwan fabric? best practices"
This is a topic I have thought about many times. The honest answer is that I have not encountered this scenario in any production environment as of yet. I try to keep my training related to things I have done. I have some ideas on how I think I might approach this scenario, but nothing concrete and I have not had a chance to lab/test them. So I think I would have to pass on saying anything until i had more experience and some actual hands on in this specific scenario. Last thing I want to do is pretend knowledge on something or misdirect anyones efforts.
@@TerryVinsonCCIEx2 very much appreciated for your time of answering my query. Thank you for creating a nice video step by step guide, it's helping me a lot.
For anyone interested in learning SD-WAN at a practical level, I highly recommend Terry's Vinson training. Don't miss out now especially when is free.
For those asking for UNL files. In lesson 2 of the course I have a link to a dropbox with all the files needed in the class included copy paste cli configs for controllers and cedges. I hope everyone is find the course helpful.
I'm definitely lucky to be enrolled in this course. Thank you very much for the opportunity.
Our pleasure!
❤❤🙂 Thank you So very much Terry. I am signed up as well and looking forward for more content. I will start with creating the lab based on the content you already shared.
Wonderful!
Awesome, thank you!
You are welcome.
Signed up, looking forward to some more stuff like Polices and Traffic engineering! Thank you!
Me too to be honest. I have been surprised that so many people have signed up in so short a time.
Brilliant initiative, really looking forward to it. All the best, thank you
Thank you Terry 🙏

Sorry to be gone so long I was struggling with some heath issues. We have decided I will be stepping away from consulting and focusing more on Teaching. It's in my best interest, and I enjoy the teaching far more than the stress of travel and consulting. So you will see more of me in the future.

Thank you Terry! Would like to see more on your SD courses, also I am interested to get your ACI course, how I can get it?
I am replacing some the N9Ks in the ACI rack and I have promised to create a new course for ACI Version 6. I will have 3 "Master Class" style courses ACI, DNA/SDA & SDWAN.

love the life story, helps us stay confident on career paths and forsee speed bumps. wish u were my mentor
Yeah I'm full of those. lol But I've been around along time.
Hi Terry I cannot thank you enough for this sdwan series and God Bless you I am in the process of building up this Lab. I see in the addressing schema their are different VPN IDs mentioned where VPN 10 20 30 are /24 and VPN 40 is /30 Q is are these VPNs are service VPNs per site for example VPN 10 is service VPN for site 10 ...and also all these VPNs would be /24s ? Also I havent gone to centralized policies videos yet but will we be covering topics like TLOC extensions, DIA, QOS etc or are they already covered. Also is it possible to provide the configuration for branch switches
Check out the 6 hour 20.12.3 homelab build course I just posted. I think it will help you out.
@@TerryVinsonCCIEx2 Thank you so much Terry. I also responded there as well. From all of us I would like to thank you for everything you are doing and helping out the community.
Mine didn't work until i add the vni 10020 l2 under evpn
Good point or question ! I expected data plane to fail until I add rd and rt under evpn config, at least this is what I understood from Cisco's config examples.
The trace didn't work because you mistyped the IP address.
Is the first video I see, but seems to be a great explanation serie, would be wonderful if the link to previous/next video or to the entire lesson is attached to the Description 😉
That is one of the reasons I gave up on youtube. I created playlist thinking they would be farmed by the algorithm as a list or in an order. But no. Its a free for all. Creating links that point to this video or than video is not what I wanted to do with my channel. I hear they releasing class structures. I'll see how that goes. I have two full time jobs, i don't want a third on trying to make sure RUclips farms my videos in order. Glad you enjoyed the explanation though. FYI the other issue is I don't see comments like I would expect. If I reply to a threat it suppresses all other the content. I guess I'm just not the sharpest social tool user.
informative and very detailed
hi can you please give a link to this file that i can use it on my eve-ng lab?
Hi Terry, we need License to run Esxi to run right
you can use the trial 120 day evaluation install, but yes you need a license. I am a VMUG Advantage Member and that gives me access to all licenses that i need to lab vMware stuff to include NSX. Its about $200.00 USD last I checked. Sorry for not seeing the question sooner.
Hi Terry, For ESXi We need the license to run right?
From where we can get the ova file ?
Are these switches pre-configured with ISIS routing protocol.
Hi Terry,I t would be good if you could share the hardware configuration of your server hosting all these VMs...
Great videos, with details in and out, Thank you Terry
amazing, please suggest about this cat9kv-prd-17.12.01prd9 image is suitable for virtual fabric ?
any chance you can share the Day 0 template code you used for the onboarding? Thank you!
Excellent quality of content and delivery, surprised it's not gone "viral". Subscribed.
Welcome aboard!
I believe the essense of this mini series are part 5 and 6. It took every one through the step of how and when things happen, which is gold.
Glad it helped.
Thanks for the explaination!
Nice informative video, what about license part for DNAC for home lab ?
Not necessary for a home lab.
getting back to networking after being out since 2018.... this is amazing!
Glad you found it helpful
@@TerryVinsonCCIEx2 The amount of "yeah thats dead" I'm running into.. 🤣🤣🤣
where can I download the Cisco CAT9KV image to add it to my eve-ng
Why only 32 CPUv's? you had another video where minimum was 64, and anything less would led the dnac to become unstable?
Because it’s a purpose built ova optimized to use that foot print.
You're a legend, thank you for this session. By far the coolest comparison of FC vs FCoE on RUclips!
From where I can download the DNAC image other than the Cisco website?
2024 and still the most comprehensive QinQ vid out there.
thanks terry very helpfull
Hi Terry, thanks for the video which processor do you run to get the 80 core please if you give it to me in details :)
I've been trying to learn BGP EVPN and VXLAN for over a week now and this is by far the best hands-on video for configuration I've seen. I'm trying to configure this for Cumulus Linux but the clear presentation has helped me solved all of the issues I had with that interface. Great job !
Glad it helped.
Hi Terry, Why did you stop uploading this content?
According to the RUclips algorithm these videos are of no significant importance. This specific video was only watched 900 times in the last year. With no appreciable watch time. Videos take hours to make. My focus has been redirected for the time being on to other things.
@@TerryVinsonCCIEx2 I'm sorry to hear that. But I appreciate all your efforts from the bottom of my heart.
