Hi Terry, I'm following your CCIE Enterprise Infrastructure posts and I want to thank you for the great findings you share with us to build an affordable LAB especially for ones who are aiming to pass the exam. I manage to get an r630 with a 88 logical cpu and 4 tb SSD that allow me to setup the DNAC and ISE in the same machine. Recently, I came across a good deal for a 3850. Do I need a DNA license to the 3850 switch so it can be integrated to the DNAC ? Thank you again for your advice !
no you just need to activate the dna-advantage addon which is RTU and will not ask for a license. Obviously in production you will want a license and all that, but for labs Cisco has taken good care of us! :)
Using a csr1000v as a border router is a really clever idea. If you have 2 3650 you can even create a multi fabric domain. But if you want to try Fabric in a Box you need a 9300
Like I said in the video. No LAN-Automation, No FIAB, and the uplink to the vEdge will be sub-interfaces rather than SVI's like in a 3850 or a 9300. Pretty of all else seems to be working perfectly so far. I'll will keep going using this configuration.
So, someone could do most of the lab studying with the 3650 switch, then when they are ready to move up, just buy/rent a 9300. Edited to change 3560 to 3650. The correct switch is 3650 as Terry comments below.
@@TerryVinsonCCIEx2 The issue I see on Ebay is a lot of sellers are listing 3560 switches as 3650. I have to look at the pics to determine if it really is a 3650 for not. That is how I got turned around so easily.
@@yingyuwang2427 3850 can be border, control or edge (just not all 3 at one time aka FIAB). 3650 can not be a border. I say this over and over in the videos. you can do far more with 2-4 3850s than one 9300 (especially for the prices on ebay) that is all I am trying to say.

Yes and I pointed the limitations out in the video. So as not to confuse people.
@@TerryVinsonCCIEx2 yes you did indeed ... my bad 😉
Great find!! What are the limitations for having the csr1000v as the Border? Anything that can't be tested?

In video,if continue config CB run bgp with maybe Router or FW (Fusion) virtual right? Must setup router or fw virtual
Hi, thanks for your shareing. Do you try to make a n9k iso to be a DNA sda fabric? thanks again.
No i have not.
Why is it only the 9300 or 9kv that supports FIAB as compared to other older switches what so special about? Thanks
Hi Terry.
Does the DNAC, or any of the nodes need any licensing in order for this to work?
Or is there an evaluation as with ISE?
I use eval of ISE, and DNAC doesn't require a license.
@@TerryVinsonCCIEx2 Thanks!
Hi Terry, ACI Cisco can build home lab? Thank you
I have tried many (many) times to make a real APIC ISO work in ESXi with no luck.
Me too@@TerryVinsonCCIEx2

3650 is minimum.
@@TerryVinsonCCIEx2 Thanks for correcting me.

9300 you can do Fiab with. With 3650/3850, they can either act as Control node or Edge node, not both.
