Why Fuji X100VI is the best camera for me in 2025
How many times did you think about leaving your big camera at home? Sometimes it's just not about camera performance. Especially when you shoot for your own pleasure and enjoyment. It is about convenience!

05:37 You may have confused Viltrox and Fujifilm based on the color and volume in the other pictures.
Nice hahaha
😂 😂 😂 😂
I own the 75 on my Fuji and wonder if I should get it for the Nikon Z too…
I think it is worth it for any mount! But honestly if you have it for Fuji why would you want the same for another camera? Just use the fuji
Multumesc
Cu placere!
I came to this video to see what the fuss the X 100Vi is all about but ended up with a few nice perspectives and a nice chuckle at the end! haha thanks!
Thanks so much for watching and commenting. I'm glad you enjoyed and hope you got some value out of it.
In which city was this video shot?
Bari, Italy
Ah yes, let’s feed the hype machine. Sure it’s great. Is it the best? Debatable.
It is indeed very, very debatable, and it is the best camera for me, right now in January 2025. I take it everywhere and I shoot more than I would ever shoot with any other camera. I feel it makes me a better photographer. Now if you do not agree with that I 100% respect your opinion and you might be even right about it, maybe for you the best camera is the Iphone or an old film camera or the Sony A7IV and kudos to you my friend. And I might change my mind in 6 months from now, who knows. Anyway I really wish you all the best in your photography path. That being said thanks for actually watching the video and commenting. If I managed to have some emotion, whether good or bad, it means I am doing a good job(patting myself on the back right now)
Appreciate your response, and not being super salty. I get why you like it, I just hate that since the 100V they have been unobtainable, and sold way higher than they should be. People who could actually use them, and love them can’t get them. Yes a camera that’s light, portable, and easy to use has the potential to make you a better photographer, but there is zero availability, and no one should pay over market value for this camera. I actually use a Pentax K3 Mark III Monochrome. I’ve used a lot of cameras in my time, several Sony’s, several film, several Fuji, and I just hate to see people fall into the trap of spending so much for something they think they need because a RUclipsr told me it was the best, or an influencer has it.
I have the X100VI but it doesn't have to be this one. It can be the good old X100, or X-E series with a pancake lens, doesn't matter really. I'd say that the idea of such a camera is the best one, rather than a specific camera. It just happens that this one is techincally the most superb in terms of compact large sensor cameras.
Thanks for the comment man! I appreciate the explanation. So, the video was about what makes a camera the best camera in MY opinion. That was even the title for the first day and a half more or less. You know what happened? Nobody clicked it, RUclips did not push it and I was getting frustrated. I changed the title and suddenly the video gets traction. As the matter of fact here we are creating engagement on the video. And I feel you, there is a lot of hype around the X100 series, and some people get in the trap. At the same time I say why not? That is the only way to learn whether something is good for you or not. You make mistakes, you lose money and you experience new things whether good or bad. And I hope people get more the idea of using a camera that make them shoot more and does not stand in their way rather than getting the X100VI cos I said so. But if that doesn't happen well... you win some, you lose some, it's life. But seriously man I really appreciate the conversation, thanks!
Exactly, that was the point, to describe an ideal camera for me. It happens that for me at the moment it is the x100VI. I used the X100F for a couple of years before getting the X100VI. There's a video of that on the channel as well.
The best camera is the one that beat fits your use case.
Agree!
That… or a Phase One!
Daamn! would love to try that one as well ahah
I am so close in jumping back to Nikon if Fujifilm does not fix this overblown autofocus issue. They've over marketed their film simulation/color science that they left out the most important part, the autofocus.
Yeah Nikon have done a pretty good job with the ZF and ZFc, I only managed to hold the ZF in my hand during an event once and take a few random shots. I mean it feels good but idk. Sometimes I also feel very frustrated other times I'm ok, let's wait and see maybe they'll fix it.
ughhh I hate that you can see it jumping for the talking head shots, not your fault, just disappointing for fuji
Yeah I feel your pain 😅
Nice
It helps to be in boost mode.
Yeah I know, and ever since I got it I have been using it only in boost. I don't even know why there is a normal or economy mode to be honest. It also helps to have pre AF turned on and Focus priority in stead of release priority when shooting photos but the thing is that I kind of wish I did not have to tweak so many settings to get the best performance. Or maybe I'm wrong, idk.
Eloquent sir ❤
Amazing review, thanks a lot!
Thanks! Glad you liked it!
The ic3peak cap
Thanks for noticing!
Tracking=hunting for whatever is closest to the lens. Also, you need modern linear motor lenses to get linear motor performance. Those 10 year old Fuji or aftermarket lenses will not give you that superfast focus you want. All zoom lenses of any brand are inferior to primes when it comes to auto focus speed and accuracy. Sony offers super fast lenses with a super fast camera. Only recent WR and up lenses from Fuji have that type of performance.
Bro I was using the 33mm f1.4 on the latest firmware oh the XH2S. What else can I do? L
😂😂😂😂
And the only camera i got is my phone
Better than a 🥔 ahaha but yeah if phone is all you got and you really want to take photos then use that
Thanks for your initial look. Would love a more in depth comparison between the new mark 2 and the Sigma 18-50 f/2.8.
Thanks for taking the time to watch! It would be great but sadly I don’t own neither one. If I can get my hands on at least one of them I could rent the other. Will see
From what I know the sigma is really light and compact, lighter than the new Fuji and for most of the time you won’t be able to see a difference in image quality BUT it does not come with weather sealing. Lately I’ve been thinking about wether it is worth it or not to have weather sealing on a lens anyway. But yeah I think that would be it mostly
Thanks for the reply. I think I'm also a bit worried about lack of weather sealing, but more so about the lack of in camera lens corrections for the relatively severe distortion on the Sigma. If I were to edit on the go, transferring the photos from camera to Android phone, I'm guessing because it's a third party lens, there will be no correction (need to edit in LR with profile correction) on the jpegs. But all in all, the light weight and size and low price is really enticing.
I have the viltrox 75f1.2 big . I think it's the better choice than between this 2..except it's really big. Very sharp at 1.2 and perfect for low light street shooting. Honestly these days so many ppl filming in the streets nobody is conscious abt lens anymore
Well yeah the 1.2 comes at a price, but I don't really mind it. I know it can take incredible shots so I am happy with it.
Imagine the XH2s does have an Stacked_Sensor for those situations... oh wait. 🤣
10:29 , i encounter this everytime in studio, static camera, static subject, 2 out of 5 pictures (not even burst) are out of focus. and yet people are pleased with the new update.
I guess people are pleased cos it's a slight improvement over what it was. But for me it's still not clear what partially revised AF means. I wish they just shared this info so we have a better understanding of what actually is happening.
And it is really annoying when you have basically a static isolated subject and it goes out of focus
This Ace Pro camera made me frustrated. I recorded videos but some of it never saved or not able to save. Is there a way to recover those video?
maybe it's the SD card, try using a recovery tool like Recuva.
Yeh, its a disappointing update. It is better maybe one instance, a solo YTer recording themselves, but in practically every other scenario it is nervous and hunting a lot. I have had to toggle off subject detection for 4 paid gigs in December, something I never had to do in 5.03. This being the great AF fixed promised and worked on since May, that's it... I do not believe they will ever resolve this issue. I am not even confident successor cameras will improve. It feels like gross incompetence within an entire division. It's not enough to sack devs and f/w teams, entire managers and departments need fired. As soon as an affordable stacked sensor/global shutter super 35 camera comes out (*cough Canon R7II cough*), the XH2S will have serious limited appeal. Fuji will be fine, tiktok influencers will keep them afloat for many years to come I suspect.
I am really sorry to hear and I feel you. I hope there will be a further update in which they fully revise the AF and it makes it usable. Yes at the moment subject detection does a weird thing even with static subjects. The thing I don't understand is: If I can do this test and see that there is something wrong why can't the engineers at Fujifilm do the same? Or hire some photographers and creators to test it before release. Anyway I am seeing a few creators making the change and some of my friends already made the change themselves.
I think Fuji has a problem with processing power. Their video goes to 400 mbs per second, that's a lot of processing data of fancy colors, so there is not much left for auto focusing. Sony has a great autofocus, but weaker color science. Something has to give.
sony is a leader in sensor technology, they have a larger market share. Auto focus is AI driven by processors.
You think so? Interesting, do you think that if we were to shoot at the lowest mbs rate would improve the AF performance? But that would be video only? How about photos? How do you explain? Shooting the lowest quality JPG?
Dunno about this because higher bitrates could actually mean less processing. EG, 5D Mark iv’s video was this huge codec because it was easier for the camera to handle (less compression work)
You basically said it all. Image quality on the new version is basically the same! Better in very few scenarios. I would like it to be a big improvement. But if we consider Fujifilm did a much smaller and lighter lens, which has less frontal glass area - so harder to correct - this is the BIG improvement. If you have the old one, no need to worry. If you plan to buy a 16-55, just go for the MK2 for its easier use/handling/carrying!
Exactly! 100% agree
Did you try photography, if so how did it perform?
yep, both photos and videos are shot in this test. I think the inconsistency is more noticeable in photos than in video. I mean you could also notice in video but you would have to really go frame by frame
Thank you, did you use the 16-55II ?
Hi! Nope it was the 16-55 Mark I, the 33mm F1.4 and the Viltrox 75mm F1.2 I have used the 16-55 II during a touch and try event though. There is another video on the channel about that
I honestly hope this was the best they could do until the end of 2024, as they promised, and that we get more incremental firmware updates for the AF in 2025. Can't help but wonder, does Fuji realise how many of their users are changing systems? Maybe they don't care and have shifted their focus to the tiktok influencers. It will only be so long before Sony fixes the color science. Nevertheless, thank you for this test.
I also hope that! It's a pity this happens with the AF because the camera is pretty good otherwise.
thanks for the video ! what autofocus settings did you use (speed, sensibility) ?
Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment! For photos used AF-C the default settings Multipurpose mode For video I used AF-C with AF Mode: multi And default settings Tracking sensitivity 2 AF speed 0 And some people might say well you should have used Sensitivity 3 and AF speed -2 or something else but I just wanted to test the camera with the default settings as if it was coming out of the box because some people sometimes don't have the physical time to fiddle with settings in scenarios that are dynamic.
Shoot my daughter on stage with x-e4 + 70-300 yesterday. Basically get exactly same results in video, sometimes it's perfect and keeps focus where I'll be surprised how the hell it managed to do that, and 5 seconds after it lost focus completely and not even trying to reacquire it. My friend had a7iv, and no issues with af in exact same scenario, but colors are not on par. Eterna is a lifesaver, I just made small clips, sent it to the phone and it's all done. p.s.: photos was all in focus. that firmware update for 70-300 is must have, not all fuji fw updates is horrible, haha.
I feel you! It is that inconsistency the gets me.
sony colors can be easily corrected in s-log
@@Chancebauer for sure, no hate on sony. but I'm amateur and shooting for friends or my family, don't really want to color grade or smth. eterna with couple of tweaks is a lifesaver for me.
True but sometimes you just want the video ASAP and that's an extra step to be added.
I think that Fujifilm can not fix it. After that long waited update AF should be perfect. I think that they start releasing 6th generation cameras instead of fixing 5th gen series, which may be the cause of a move of a lot of professionals to other brands on which they can rely.
I hope they do manage to fix it with firmware. This is just a partially revised version so there is some hope I guess. I have definitely noticed the shift in users. I have a friend who uses two X-T5s and he changed to Canon.
i see a lot of people praising it but no one noticed this bug except this guy! this is annoying like action 2 a few years ago and they fixed it with the new fw! i hope ace pro does the same otherwise action 5 will replace it although i really like HDR mode for Ace pro
Most creators won't talk about it, it's there, they know it, some mention it. Maybe they have contracts with insta360, maybe they want to have good relationships with them or maybe they are not bothered by it, who knows? But hey thanks for watching and commenting!
I tried to watch this
Thanks for trying, I guess it makes more sense when you watch it live.
I'll give it another go. Thanks for sharing . Happy holidays !
One HUGE HUGE advantage of Mk2 vs. Mk1 that everyone misses: Mk2 can lock into A mode! I had the Mk1 but HATED it because it was (f-ing heavy and) constantly slipping out of A mode to f22. I don't know how many times with the Mk1 I got back home from a sunny outdoor shoot to find that the aperture was f22 instead of in A mode.
Quanto mi manchi Forli😊❤
Got it. Love it!
That’s awesome!
I have a question. There's an af noise from aperture 3.2 Can you check it out? I wonder if this is an initial defect. 1680 has a quiet af.
Hi, sorry to hear about that! I did not notice any noise in the AF when I tested it. Unfortunately I don't have the lens now because it was just a touch and try event. Maybe you can contact Fuji customer support or go to a local shop and test it.
seems like people have random issues with this lens from the look of it. I hope this is not a widespread QC issue
@@shiningyrlife The sound is exceptionally sharp.
Oh really? I did not hear much about it. What kind of issues?
When pressing and releasing the half shutter, the aperture closes and the sound is a bit loud. The more telephoto, the louder the sound. Simply put, the sound of the aperture opening and closing is bothering me. It seems that the quality of the lenses fell a lot as the factory was moved to the Philippines, not Japan.
It's simply embarassing for FUJIFILM to keep hide from reality. There was an AF issue, just work and solve it. there is no meaning to continue to be silent and do not take care about the users comments and request. Perhaps it's time for FUJIFILM to seriously look at their organization and suggest someone to step down. FUJIFILM you have to solve the issue or give maney back, simple like that.
I just got notice that my lens is on its way. I had a second hand copy of the previous model and I was very impressed by the sharpness, but in the end it was too big and bulky. This lens is actually lighter than the 16-80mm and if you think about all the prime lenses this lens can replace, it is a better buy and saves you weight as well.
Yes, indeed! The thing I am most interested in is: does it make sense to get it if you own the old version and you don't do a lot of run and gun? Personally at the moment I do mostly talking head and don't carry the 16/55 much outside so it doesn't make too much sense to get it. But if you're a wedding photographer or travel photographer that has to carry the camera with the lens for long hours then it totally makes sense. Oh and if you have a lot of money then don't think twice ahah just get it and if you don't like it sell it
I guess it’s as you’d expect for shooting video? Declick could be handy for video. But if someone is going to grab a cam for hybrid shooting it’d be a good upgrade from the kit lens I guess?
Yes, for the amount of time I have had I would say it works well. And it is an upgrade from the 18-55 especially if you make money with the camera and shoot in low light. watch this: ruclips.net/video/IB6RLwu3Erk/видео.htmlsi=T1Xk1l0CbqTDvk16&t=274
Thank you for your thoughts. Unaceptable that we are still waiting for the update to the XT5.
I think it will come soon. From what I have seen online the issues were very present on XH2S and XH2 mostly. I don't own an XT5 so I don't really know how it performs. Is it really bad.
I can’t trust the camera recently. I used it quite extensively to photograph architecture and randomly. I would have photos of buildings that are filling the frame be out of focus. I also want to Disney World with my family and I had a bunch of photos. Also, out of focus of my family when it’s two people filling the frame randomly so you’ll have a bunch of fine photos and then have the random auto focus photo. I don’t know about video cause I don’t shoot video with it.
fuji don't forget FUJI X100VI AF fix
I don't think they will forget. It's just there was a lot of heat around the XH2S being the flagship and whatnot.
Deadass don't know what you expect tbh I don't see much of a issue lol. Such a youtuber problem atp
You know what? I actually agree with you to a certain extent. That's why I took the camera out in a real life situation and took some photos of a skater just doing some tricks and going around people. Video coming next week btw. And in two weeks I'll do a big event(video coming on that as well). Anyway, the RUclips test everybody is doing shows that the AF is not perfect and does not reach the standards of other brands. However, from my recent experience, before and after the firmware update I can say that it is improved and it is usable. It will miss some shots but definitely usable. If you watch my previous video you will understand my point of view. Mostly people are not mad because of the AF in itself, they're angry because of the perception that the brand wants to have overall for a flagship camera like XH2S when it is not as good in as people might perceive. But bro, you spending the time to watch this and making a passive aggressive comment... That's the most flattering thing. I'm gonna keep them coming. Thank you!
I just don't get what you expect is all. Like in terms of birding and such I get it but more generally I feel even with the older shit firmware it was still very serviceable. Can't stand just complaining about a problem that is on its path to resolving.
my x-t3 AF started to behave awfully, a lot of false positives, AF used to be decent, but now it's almost unusable and idk if they even release new firmware for this older cameras ;c
sometimes they do... but i would not count on it
