Hi mate, great video. How to work out ballast & cement for the concrete pad ? So how much material for your example of 4x3 meters x 60mm pad ? Thanks

  • @realdigitalninja

Thanks mate for great series. For ceiling joists you used 105mm hybris insulation but you didn’t mention did you use the same for wall joists as well? Or was it 75mm considering walls are 4x2s ? Thanks

Presented nicely but it’s typical landscape gardening lack of proper building knowledge , it needed to be 250 deep , with 100mm of mot wacked down, then 50 mm of grit sand wacked down then the Dpm placed in , then some 40 mm concrete blocks around 50 to 100 mm squared placed here n there for mesh to sit on, then 100 mm of concrete . Build it properly lads 🤛

Great video, so informative and inspirational. Its clear you care about doing the job to highest standard and flexing to customer needs. On the floor insulation, how do you manage the floor height after the build up of height from celotex, OSB and laminate? Do you need to put an extra timber across the door reveal at the bottom to build up the door height?? Might be a silly question, but thought I'd ask anyway 🙂

I have just started the process of looking at a garden office and came across your video's so I have been binging on them for a few days. How wonderful it is to see a young man who really cares about the finnished product and your skill level is amazing. We have had a lot of renovation work at our cottage and some of the trades people have been just average at best. I'm not sure if a project in the new Forest in Hampshire would interest you but i'm sure going to be in touch. The office with storage is just what my partner and I need.

Amazing series, thanks for the detailed expert info! I was interested in how you got the cladding on with the building so close to the fence. I’m planning a build where space is tight and I want to get as close as I can to 3 neighbouring walls/fences to make the most of available space. Do you have a minimum distance that you find workable? Thanks!

Great work. But, just one observation. When running data cables, you should have a 100mm gap between data cables and the mains cable. Running them that close will introduce induction from the AC into the Cat5 or Cat6. This can cause packet loss and issues.

Pushing the PIR up to the OSB won’t stop moisture getting in behind it. Really the PIR should be flush with the studwork and then foil taped. You then put an air vapour control barrier over everything and seal all the joints and that’s how you stop condensation.

Shouldn't you have planned with furniture? If I think well, this is not a self regulated electric heating. It can overheat if you cover it constantly and can damage the furniture as well. If you want to cover the whole floor without making predictions, you should have used self regulated electric heating cable.

Very informative video. I wish I saw this video prior to doing a concrete base for my garden room. I have an issue, which I see as a big issue. My concrete base was poured and I noticed it was way off being perpendicular with my main property. It is angled to the right. The garden tapers towards the rear. Can this be remedied before the garden room is built? Thanks.

And secondly maybe it would have looked nicer to mitre the edges of the cedar trim round the face of the aluminium doors, but that's just my opinion and I'm sure you had a reason for it.
