    That is not a car charger that is a digital reader for your phone to be used as a digital key. The car charger is an upgrade. They look the same, but if you’ll notice there’s no tiny blue light right in the front if there’s no tiny blue light or a charge symbol on the platform then you’ll know it’s just a reader.

    If you want a bigger screen where most car makers go towards to nowadays, then volvo isnt it obviously. First, majority went for massive front grills, then massive screens inside that make the interiors look horrible. I think volvo found a happy medium in that regard where they actually integrated it into the dash vs just slapping a massive computer monitor in the middle of the dash. No wireless charging? I think theres one available at your local canadian tire for 20$? 😂 either way, this review is so all over the place i dont really know where to continue. Why 2 reviewers? No variety from the second person just "yes" and "right" 🤷

    I've been driving an Xdrive 40 as a loaner for the last few days while my M50 is in for routine service. Driving, it is EXACTLY the same as the M50. I don't notice the difference in suspension or even the acceleration in normal driving. I do miss the options not installed on the M50. Range on this - both are on 19" wheels is - similar, rarely reaching the EPA 270 miles (per the projection - guessometer). Much lower in cold weather. Not a lot of difference based on drive mode. Still a great car.

    Nice solid review from diverse perspectives. The little digs made me giggle as you two are clearly married. The speed was already corrected in the comments, so I'll leave that. One other point: you say the perforated seats are a $4k option, but that isn't just for the perforation and faux leather, it also gives you cooling. The cooling function is what drives such a big change in price. That isn't necessary for me. It would have been useful for you to dive into the options a bit more for those that don't know. I personally am going to get the Polestar 2 RWD for the longer range with the Plus and Pilot packs - the near autonomous driving is definitely something that I want. What I love about Polestar and Volvo is the Android Automotive application. It is easily the best car OS out there at the moment and so much better than what you can get from GM, the Koreans or the Germans.

    There's two prerequisites before buying an EV. #1 Are you a home owner so you can install a charging station? #2 Do you already own an gas vehicle and the EV will be your second vehicle? If you can't answer YES to both of those questions, absolutely DO NOT buy an EV. Even if you have an old beater ICE car, that's good enough to have in case you can't charge. After owning 3 different EV's, let me be honest. They are NOT for everyone. Are you a condo or apartment dweller? DO NOT buy or lease an EV. It is a ROYAL pain in the ass to rely on public charging stations. People are big time assholes and park ICE cars at charging stations and simply don't care to leave it open. I've been to 5 different charging stations and was unable to charge. #1 the charging stations that worked at the first place I went to were all full. The rest of the stations said "NETWORK ERROR" and did not function. I went to numerous other ones and somebody had vandalized/cut all of the charging cables making it impossible to charge. Talk about RANGE ANXIETY. Man, it SUCKS like you have NO IDEA! I love EV's, but charging them and getting good range is so hard a lot of the times, it's not even funny. I wouldn't fathom doing a long road trip in one of these. Trust me... KEEP YOUR GAS CAR!

    1. HUD is adjustable 2. Passenger seat is a glitch - my 2023 does not have that problem. 3. Plugging it in to my garage 220v outlet recharges battery in about 3 hours. 4. Center console depth is limited because the battery is directly underneath it. 5. That is NOT a transmission tunnel - it is the battery. Gas engine drives front wheels only - electric motors are in the rear.

      I’ve always driven fords since 1988. The Outlander is much better platform and considerably more reliable. You also get many more upgrades in the Outlander for the same or less money than the Escape. I owned 4 C-Max all made in Michigan. All operated flawlessly. These escapes are now made in Mexico, the quality has gone straight down. I chose the Outlander for all these reasons, made in Japan. Ford finally drove me away with obscene price increases and by having the most recalls in the business.

    • @PlanetLinuxChannel
      @PlanetLinuxChannel 2 месяца назад

      @@gcanada3005 That makes sense. Although our VIN starts with a 1 and claims to be made in the US. We considered the Outlander PHEV, but it was actually slightly more expensive around here and we really prioritized the EV range and fuel economy, of which the Escape was better. Still, the Outlander does a LOT right, and is a great option depending on your needs and priorities.

    • @gcanada3005
      @gcanada3005 2 месяца назад

      @@PlanetLinuxChannel I heard Ford really dropped the price of the Escape recently. This is confirmation. A year ago it was completely different. A friend that works at Ford says they are over $12k cheaper than last year. When I complained to him they drove me away. If that escape is $12k more do you still make the same decision?

    • @PlanetLinuxChannel
      @PlanetLinuxChannel Месяц назад

      @@gcanada3005 Oh certainly not! I figured that the price was good for what I was getting. But for $12K more, there’s too many other good options: Outlander PHEV, RAV4 Prime, Mazda CX-70/90, etc.

  • @PlanetLinuxChannel
    @PlanetLinuxChannel 2 месяца назад

    So it’s not a CCS plug, because it doesn’t have the high-voltage DC part of the connector. It’s a standard J1772 connector that supports Level 2 charging (240V) and Level 1 charging (120V like from a normal house outlet). That little space in between the cup holders actually lets you set your key fob there if its battery ever died and the vehicle will recognize that it’s in the car and let you start it. As well, you can adjust the positioning of the HUD from the instrument cluster menu.

    The good news for this car if you don't like one-pedal drive is that regenerative braking works regardless of the mode. Using the regular brake pedal works the same, and will blend in the friction brakes when extra stopping power is needed.

    • @adamcarlson4922
      @adamcarlson4922 2 месяца назад

      THIS. People really need to realize that Tesla is the only manufacturer whose cars will not use regen with the brake pedal. Everyone else will use regen to when you use the brake pedal and then blend in friction brakes if you need more power when you max out regen. Also the coasting effect of not having regen on the accelerator pedal makes driving smoother and potentially even more efficient.

    • @iantelinside
      @iantelinside 25 дней назад

      @@adamcarlson4922 Exactly. I cringe when I hear reviewers praising the Tesla's brake pedal feel compared to others, but it's really not a just comparison. I chose this car over the Model 3 as I like one-pedal drive and my wife doesn't. This way we can both drive the way we like. The Tesla doesn't offer that choice at all.
