    To answer your question from the end, regarding my personal opinion I I would probably just go with my every day outfit S considering it being a double breasted is pinstripe navy suit brown hole cats and the Humber cats it’s probably the most British thing one would wear on the street anyway of course there are a few things that are much more elegant and more British good morning code would be a lovely example so this just Seppi not something I can wear on the street

      Again, Hi Jonas, a double breasted pinstripe navy suit, is a very traditional look, brown whole cut shoes are a great look the Homberg hat is goes fantastically well with that over all look - great choices my friend👍🙂

    I have just recently on my holiday in London. Bought a beautiful and really affordable pair of olives. Sude loafers Made in Portugal, I like to wear them as an alternative to my whole cat shoes With my double-breasted linen suit, which I as well bought as part of a new summer wardrobe, I as well hope at some point to be able to acquire A lovely panama hat adding to it as well as maybe a blue striped shirt and a green knit tie. The whole summer style is going to be strongly inspired by the I think it was 2020 murder on the Nile movie I do also really like the brown suedes you have shown The broken wouldn’t be for me there with a leather sole even the more therefore

      Hi Jonas, the look based upon the 2020 movie Murder on the Nile is a great look and a Panama hat is a great addition to a persons wardrobe anyway 👍 they can be quite expensive so treat one like an investment piece and as we come out of the summer season, you might pick one up cheaper in a sale or discounted due to end of season🙂 the Olive suede loafers are slightly unusual to see, but that is a great colour to wear and would go really well with the linen suit 👍

    Very well done on the color and fabric guidance Chris. Turtle neck sweaters give a sophisticated look with a sports or wool jacket. Cords and flannels are great for autumn too. The Bowler hat is too costumish for me. Instead the Homburg is preferable. Especially grey with a black band. Otherwise the tweed news boy is definitely on the menu. Nice rollout for autumn Chris 👍. Cheers

    Great video Chris. I truly enjoyed it and listening to you is always a delight. My favorite season of the year is coming. One of my favorite looks is to combine a dress shirt with.a shawl collared cardigan instead of a sports jacket. Great in the in between seasons time and going for an errand. Autumn is also marked for me when my shoes and boots with rubber soles are coming out and the leather soles are going into storage.

    Excellent content, Chris. Your sitting room is the perfect backdrop for these videos. I experiment at home with all of my outfit ideas, often test assembling everything on a wooden coat hanger. What started out just wearing a cravat / ascot with an open neck shirt, has gradually progressed to a sports jacket, tie, waistcoat and pocket square. Double cuff shirts elevate the look of any suit, jacket or blazer, but it was the addition of highly polishing my shoes that drew a surprising level of positive attention. Growing sartorial confidence can also express itself in the variety of colours we wear. But if upgrading our appearance is what we want to achieve, a neater hair style (with a regular haircut), and extra attention to personal grooming (including dental care) are always good places to start. I was 20 LBs overweight, which had to go and has stayed off thanks to a permanent lifestyle change. Daring to be different means turning your back on the stereotype appearance of your particular age group and instead developing your own image / sartorial style that sets you a noticeable step up from the pack. It has certainly changed my life for the better.

    • @TheBritishDapper
      @TheBritishDapper 4 дня назад

      Hi John, glad you enjoyed the video and shared your personal sartorial journey with us. You make some excellent observations and recommendations for other wishing to start their own sartorial journey and the positive benefits that can be gained. I guess the key message is 'attention to detail' not just in what clothing combination one wears, but also our grooming, polishing, pressing and cleanliness plays a significant part as well. Thanks for your comments and continued support👍🙂

  • @johnparnell8571
    @johnparnell8571 4 дня назад

    Very smart, Chris. A self tie bow tie brings sophistication to an outfit and is a perfect alternative to the more usual bladed neck tie. My late father used to wear them a lot in the 1950s and early 1960s. These days a bow tie is a rare sight when worn, as here, with a sports jacket, suit, or blazer. Most men now only encounter them when wearing formal black tie. The only obvious drawback (if you can call it that) of a bow tie is that it does leave an expanse of empty shirt front. For this reason, I prefer to wear mine with a covered shirt placket (no exposed buttons), and / or a waistcoat. What's your opinion, Chris?

    • @TheBritishDapper
      @TheBritishDapper 4 дня назад

      Hi Jhon, great to hear from you and glad you enjoyed the video. I agree with you about the potential expanse of shirt front, I personally tend to favour a waistcoat or a V neck sweater of cardigan is ideal, but it was a little to warm for these on the day, hence this look, the only shirts I have with a covered placket are ones I use for black tie, but they are ideal for the purpose of hiding those exposed buttons👍🙂

    Shouldn't it be rather with a wing collar dress shirt 🤔

    • @TheBritishDapper
      @TheBritishDapper 4 дня назад

      Hi there, a wing collar is one of many options, it is an older style of shirt collar, sometimes worn but it is not compulsory, but a cutaway collar is needed ideally to accommodate the bow tie and it is the cutaway collar commonly used for everyday wear over the use of a wing collar 👍🙂

    Great advice Chris. I think Ash From the chap's guide calls it turning up the style volume. You're right, a collar and a pair of chinos with dress shoes and you are already to go!

    • @TheBritishDapper
      @TheBritishDapper 5 дней назад

      Hi Bernard, glad you enjoyed the video and you are correct, Ash uses the analogy of turning up the style like a volume control, which I think is a good way of thinking about it. It doesn't take much these days to raise the bar from wearing just jeans, ill fitting T shirts and dirty trainers, but once you do you are on the road of improvement sartorially speaking. It is great to see a new wave of younger men, now slowly starting to challenge this herd like uniform and personally stepping up their game and standing out as well dressed individuals, it is encouraging to see. Thanks for your comments and continued support 👍🙂

    it must not even be old movies just take the kingsman for example or john wick the murder on the orient express movie with kenneth brnagh is probaly the greatest example you will hardly find any person there who isnt impecably t´well dressed On a side note may i ask where you have gotten this wonderfull tie it very much resembles the oen in the kingsmann movies and i have long been searching for something like this also i would recommend you not to wear those super small lapels in my opinion a peak lapel just looks much more classy though i think while oen can still do it with the dingle breastet ones with a double breastetd ones its a big no go

      Hi there, I agree with you. They don't always have to be old movies and inspiration comes in many forms. The Kingsman is a good example of demonstrating a traditional look and showcases British tailoring. The ties I tend to own are old ties, I've owned since the 80s and 90s, although I do have a few modern ties. When it comes to buying ties, I tend to find quality lasts. That particular tie you mention is from Charles Tyrwhitt and I think I bought it in the late 90’s - hope that helps. Glad you enjoyed the video 🙂👍

    I might as well eat a little recommendation for everyone watching this video, especially for the people being on the start of the journey times as well as pocket squares are because they don’t have two fits your body only your style very great to get used or in case of a pocket, square you could just buy a little piece of whatever material you wanna use for it at the shop. It is gonna be much cheaper and very comparable because a tire or a pocket square can easily cost £40 each likely more, and if you can save money there, it is much more useful to actually invest them in a good suit, and a pair of shoes as well as a hat. for those are items where it is absolutely necessary and in fact stands above anything else a good suit pair of shoes and hats with certainly bang careful than welcome last you a lifetime and you can very well wear them every day, The three of them are just things where are you better have only one of each but the highest quality you can somehow get while for a pocket square and a tie. It is absolutely alright if you buy them cheap and used and therefore have a few more of them, so you can vary your other items more for example, red tie and pocket square as I tend to sometimes wear it can completely change the look of a navy suit from incredibly conservative too pretty loud. The most extreme is it likely will be grey suit as you can combine it with pretty much any colour and completely change the look and feel of it Can perfectly wear green or yellow ties with it in the summer and maybe use a dark blue striped one to make it perfect fit for the darker winter days

      Good advice Jonas and I agree, where possible buy natural materials and buy the best you can it will stand the test of time and last you a life time, classic never goes in or out of date and remains stylish, where as fashion related items fade. I'd agree a grey suit is very flexible and a navy striped suits is a great choice.🙂

    If I might give you a little critique. I would in your position, maybe think about a little smaller of a tie knot no, the rest of the outfit is wonderful a bit conservative with the black only, but I love the double-breasted style and the very large lapels I also even though I am aware, it may not look overly great. I would very much recommend you to get something to dampen sound as it. Has a lot of echoing through the room and just a bit of a mechanic tone it is critique on a high level, though, like I said I like your video and your style very much, but if you could improve the audio quality, I think that would be a very great influence to your videos

    Since the 10th grade And until now I have pretty much where ever I went, as long as it wasn’t just walking to supermarket, worn my signature style, which consists of a mostly either blue or red tie, a red pocket, square, as well as the Homburg hat A double breasted pinstripe, navy suit, and a pair of dark brown, whole cut Oxfords From Budapest i’ve worn it for the last years of school. I’ve worn it when going to the city and just recently had my journey to London where I was happily surprised by the incredibly great resonance I got for it I visited Savile Row jermyn Street and the heart of the city of London in general, I even visited Buckingham Palace with it, and from a lot of people I met on the street to even the staff at Buckingham Palace. I was overthrown with compliments for my style which probably is a combination of its being a rarity today as well as it being very classy British, this style gives me a lot of confidence and covers my personality, as good as modern style never could. And while I am trying to collect a few more suits shoes, and so on, as I am deeply interested in the hall, artistic crafts from the shoemakers to the suit makers and so on I have as I said one this combination for years and the residence was mostly very good so even if one can’t afford or just doesn’t want to buy several suits and shoes and hats and so on or maybe doesn’t want to go to bright in a style, I think that a dark or navy coloured suit with a nice pair of oxfords, I love brown because of the many different tones and variations of the colour They’ll probably black would be less attraction, seeking and a nice hat Can very well builders style on which you can rely for use. It will give security as you’re used to it while making sure you never look bad in it though on a sidenote. I certainly wouldn’t recommend to you wearing a red tie in any situation where you do not want to get a lot of attention as I can assure you this is what that will do.

      Hi Jonas, it is lovely to hear you are dressing in a traditional style. You sound like you have embraced all of the artisan skills or crafts in the way you dress. it great to hear you are a hat and suit wearer, embellished with a pocket square and tie. Shoe colour is always an interesting subject, and I tend to wear a lot of brown or burgundy shoes myself in more informal occasions. I find that black is wore less frequently in this day and age, but I do wear black shoes in a formal setting. I always enjoy my visits to London and it's lovely to hear you also enjoyed your time there. Keep dressing sharp and impress the people you encounter. Glad you enjoyed the video🙂👍

    I like the idea of wearing a butiner in your lapel using an attractive fishing fly.

      Hi there, a boutonniere is a nice accessory to consider wearing whether its fresh or artificial and you as you mention using a fishing fly brooch, that is also another great look, but consider the level of formality when using one they particularly look good with a tweed jacket - good choices👍🙂

    Great theme! On pocket squares: I tend to find them a little bit festive and more suitable for dinner etc. To the office I do wear a jacket and a presidential fold pocket square as this is more business like imo.

      Hi Sjoerd, great to hear from you again and glad you enjoyed the video content. The great thing about using a pocket square or Handkerchief is the flexibility you have in wearing it more flamboyantly or not and what you state makes perfect sense. 👍🙂

    Hello Chris. Another great video. I have been wearing a fedora and flat cap since the 1970s . I also have a deerstalker. Always wear a pocket square with a jacket. Most people appreciate A well-dressed man the ones who don't or make fun are either jealous or don't matter. Agree with your comment on tweed jackets. As for bow ties I'm not going to wear them except for black tie. But I would suggest if you are going to wear one learn how to tie one and not wear a pre-tied bowtie. Thanks for sharing Chris. Cheers Ron

      Hi Ron, glad you enjoyed the video and your comments show a man with self confidence and a good grasp of sartorial matters. I full agree with you about - if you are going to wear a bow tie, best practice is to wear a self tied one rather than a pre-tied one. Thanks for your continued support Ron👍🙂
