wild wild life bass cover
Bass cover of Talking Heads 1986 hit single 'Wild Wild Life'. I've always thought Tina Weymouth is a fantastic bass player, so this is my little homage to her.
This is a great bass line and its a huge amount of fun to play.
Hope you like it!
Bass: Fender 75th Anniversary Commemorative Precision

You're the One That I Want bass cover

Bass cover of the 1978 song 'You're The One That I Want' by John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John, which was a single release from the movie soundtrack album 'Grease'. This song was a chart hit pretty much everywhere on planet Earth, and reached #1 in the UK, US and lots of other places too. Quite a challenging bass line because of its fast pace, so I have simplified some passages to accommodate...
Nowhere Man Bass Cover
Просмотров 2,5 тыс.3 года назад
Bass cover of The Beatles 1965 song Nowhere Man. Sadly, after 8 attempts at re-mixing the audio track, this is the best that the Fun Police at RUclips Central will allow. So we have the backing track minus the intro and the vocals muted, but I think there is just about enough left to place the bass track in context. Enjoy.... and again sorry for the rubbish backing.
Rock The Boat - Bass Cover
Просмотров 6 тыс.3 года назад
Bass cover of the 1974 Hues Corporation hit 'Rock The Boat'. I always thought that James Jamerson played on this record, but after a little bit of investigation it turns out that the original bass part was played by another Motown bassist, Wilton Felder. Not an easy song to play properly, and I'm not really sure I've nailed this one, but I wanted to give it a try anyway. Hope you like it. Bass:...

Mamma Mia Bass Cover

Bass cover of Abba's 1975 hit 'Mamma Mia', which featured on the album 'ABBA' ( also titled 'I do, I do, I do, I do, I do' in some countries). As one of the band's bigger hits, this is also the song that spawned the movie franchise. It is also one of the few Abba records that their regular bassist Rutger Gunnarsson did not play on; the original bass track on this song was played by British bass...

We'll Never Have to say Goodbye Again - Bass Cover
Просмотров 3,6 тыс.3 года назад
Bass cover of England Dan & John Ford Coley's 1978 single 'We'll Never Have to say Goodbye Again'. This song was a minor hit in the US and Canada, but failed to chart elsewhere, despite extensive radio airplay. The original bass track was played by Joe Osborn, who was well known for his distinctive pick style playing on all of the Carpenters records. He used a pick on this track too, but I don'...
Toast and Marmalade For Tea - BASS COVER
Просмотров 1,7 тыс.4 года назад
Toast and Marmalade for Tea was a 1970 hit single by Australian band Tin Tin. The song was written my Maurice Gibb, and he also played the original bass line on the record. Short and sweet, this one. So I made a bit of a production out of the video. Enjoy :) Bass: Fender 50s re-issue Precision Strings: DR Legend Flatwounds
GET UP AND BOOGIE - Bass Cover

Silver Convention were a German 'Euro-pop' outfit which had some huge chart hits in in the mid 70s. in 1976 they had a chart success with 'Get up and Boogie', which like its predecessor 'Fly Robin Fly' was a hypnotic repetition of the same phrase over and over. But having said all that..... its still a catchy little 70s disco tune, so I hope you enjoy my bass cover of it. Bass: Fender Elite ser...

Excellent!
This young lady is a really fine bass player!
I hope you’re not done. I love watching your videos. All your song choices are perfect. 👍❤
Beautifully played
Really cool fretless sound.
Very good!!
Very, very beautiful indeed. Thanks for sharing and hugs from Brazil. Marcio
!!!! Huutomerkki!
This is simply incredible, a masterpiece!
Her plucking hand is so good!
So much pleasure to hear that real sound and music. I am 41 and It's my dream to play in a band like this on a bass. Life doesn't give enough time for that yet. I hope to make it come true before it ends. Really cool guys, continue!
Equally impressive as Osborn’s’ warm melted chocolate bass playing/sound is Jim Gordon’s drumming here. Also he’s on Solitaire too. His drumming was nothing short of PHENOMENAL.
This is really excellent bass cover, just like the original.
So whats your muisical journey to this point? In a bad when young or ... Is that a McCartney bass from "WINGS"?
@@stevejones924 I was in a band briefly in the early 80s. After that I stopped playing for a few decades, and came back to playing in 2009. In a band since 2016. The bass is a Rickenbacker 4004; McCartney's was a 4003s, or a variant thereof.
Sounds great! Thanks!
1:26 - Gets me every time. Awesome job!!!
I love what you do with this song , beautiful. Good job, keep rocking..
Sorry, but the comments you refer to are correct.
Some notes seem a bit sharp but seem to be more down to 1960.s Macca really. Never seen a Jet & Gold Rick before, that's a beauty. Nice playing.
@@wearetomorrowspast.5617 it's a 4004. The Laredos have silver hardware and the Cheyennes have gold. So this is a 4004 cheyenne in Jetglo.
Your bass is a little sharp but that is likely the recording. Try tuning to A=432 Hz and see if that helps. Recordings were and are often tweaked a few Hz to make it sound better...
Yep ..your fans are right! You're out of tune. Tune to the recording when you play along. Many of the bands on the old recordings tuned lower than 440. On the flip side, being a professional bass player myself, you're chops are really good! Keep up the good work and giving us videos. ✌🏼❤️🙏🏼
yep. youre out of tune
Your bass is sharp (#), i.e. not in tune with the recording. Good percussive tone. Feels "labored" not natural...
Great playing, yes you’re quite a bit sharp, immediately apparent but Beatles or engineers may have initiated the discrepancy. Love your ability!
Just right Sarah! Youre not overplaying bass here and carrying the song well. The Beatle song was too much play. This is nice.
Not a bass player but I think most notes dont connect to the song as it is originally. Can you isolate the bass and listen to Macca's playing? Some videos online are beatles bass isolated as a title. Check that out. Plus I think youre playing lead bass here, too much play as the bass is to highlight the others . Just try to set the song with whats needed, too little not good, too much not good either. On another note Sarah, I can only hope to one day play bass!
@@stevejones924 the notes aren't mine, they're Paul McCartney's. This rather busy bass line is what he played on the record; I got it from isolating the original bass track and copying it.
Your playing sounds nice, your bass sounds like it's a half step sharp of the recording.
My timing is as good as it gets, once I have the timing for a song, I can lock in, no matter when or where. I can tell when I'm a hair off as well. Your on beat hits are on time, but some of your in between notes aren't quite there. Like the notes are right, but missing the feeling that comes with, like you are not quite flowing. Maybe you should consider changing the strings you use or a slight tone adjustment. I don't think you should stop putting these out, or stop playing at all. I commend you for even doing this AND asking for critic. Do not stop doing this, ESPECIALY, if you enjoy it. Chin up. ........................Another note, I'm not crazy about this bass line for this song. it seems a little busy at times for the song, but that is just my opinion. Music is art, enjoy yourself. 👍
I wish that I hadn't said anything, clearly I've opened up a can of worms with so many 'experts' , the track itself appears to be flat, which is not unusual for the Beatles, their tunings vary wildly. DO NOT DELETE THIS VIDEO
@@virgilrytaar9083 no, it's fine really. I welcome any constructive criticism so I'm glad you highlighted it.
Fantastic chops, you got all the runs, etc, etc.. Same here, 57, been playing consistently since 19-ish, always gigging steady. The Beatles didn't use a "tuner". They would tune to the piano in the room, and now and again, they weren't 'perfect' with their tuning when tracking. Amazing job!
Wow, you’ve actually made a Ricky sound good to me. Great playing
@@LaurenScheff thanks. There's a couple of other videos on my channel where I've used this Ric as well as tje Fireglo 4003s that I had before. Have a dig around and you'll find them.
Great Job ❤
Nice job! And beautiful bass.
The bass is a beauty!
Get a tuner
Haha😂.... got a tuner, and I know how to use it too! I presume you either can't tell in tune from out of tune; perhaps you're not a musician at all? Anyway, thanks for your input, but on this occasion you've got it wrong.
@SarahJonesBass it's out of tune with the track though
@@virgilrytaar9083I respectfully disagree. But thanks anyway.
@@SarahJonesBass I've been playing music for 51 years bass for about 39 years and I would have to agree you're in tune and the bass line sounds correct. Good job!
@@marcmulvaney8681 put your tongue away, I wasn't having a go. It's just an opinion, I've been gigging for 45 years and I admit that on occasions I can be wrong
You're amazing!
Sarah, you are one of my favorite bass cover sources. I love your catalog.
Nice one. Are you in a band called The Hats?
@@smalltown2223 I am! I'm guessing from your name that you were in Smalltown with our drummer?
@ That’s right. I thought I recognised you. I’m learning Meet me on the Corner on bass, and you popped up. So I’ll be learning it from you. I play bass in a band with Roy from Small Town. I’m Dave.
Smooth playing.. I like your style. Keep on RocknRollin’! ❤️

I am a brand new bass player and I have to play this in 10 days at a show. You sound amazing!! I only wish to play as good as you!! 👏🏻

Good work
Love it. You are the COOLEST 🤘

Thanks for the excellent bass cover ❤
Wow, I know this is an old post but THANKS! Just saved me so much time with the quality and care you put into your tutorial.
Love this song and the bass line too! Thank u very much for the wonderful video, greetings from Mexico 🫂
