This is probably the best video ive seen to swap these cab mounts for a diy-er. Been debating doing this for a while now but after watching this i think im going to order some from s&b. Just to clarify, if i decide not to swap the front ones out, ill still need to loosen those bolts if not remove them before jacking the cab up?
where did you get the billet grille emblem?
I don’t know if I’m lucky but I did mine without a drop of heat, loosened them with my M12 ratchet and they came out fine, I rethreaded the bolt in and hit it to get the bottoms to separate.

How much do you charge to do all of this?
The job usually comes in around the 6-7k ball park range (parts and labor).

Who makes the glow plug delete kit? I have a lot of time/money in my 7.3 build and would like to switch them out for some peace of mind. I plan on using a Glacier Diesel Performace 3.5inch high flow grid heater from a 6.7 cummins for the winter cold starts as an alternative.

You probably said what to torque dummy plug and stand pipe to. Mine is 2 piece style with 1/2 square fitting. I purchased o rings. I am waiting for those to show. What should I torque my style to? I would so appreciate your input. Thanks for the input also on doing this project. It has been fun except for I am 63 and everything hurts after a day wrenching.
I always put all mine at 60 ft lbs. Congratulations on still wrenching at that age, I’m only 28 and I hurt mostly every day!

My pops bought a 04’ 450 6.0 powerstroke manual for 8k, a month later it blew up. I’ve done work on some cars and seeing your video makes me want to invest in fixing his truck myself. I think I can do it and would enjoy it, plus I find it relaxing when you’re working in the shop alone. Thank you for your video. Why doesnt someone knockoff the gen3 hpop kit and start selling it now that Swamps is out of business?
I honestly considered sending mine off to our CNC guy to have the housings made, but a lot of people don’t like the Gen3 system so didn’t want to waste money.
I run my 7.3 off of waste oil distillate I crack and distill fractionally waste oil roughly 680 degrees cost about 6 Cent a gallon and I have an unlimited Supply and can make multiple barrels per day:-)
That is awesome, I’ve met a few people that do this with good results!
@@Atomic_Diesel a few people that refined their own oil with heat come on now are you in the USA very very very very very very few people are doing this you got to have some big brass ones you know how scary it is heating up oil to 800 Degrees

No sir. The head gaskets have a ring already built into them and the manufacturer advised use against ringing the heads.
It'd be so nice if a manufacturer would make a 4 valve head for a 7.3. They'd sell like crazy and would really help them be competitive with newer diesels.

Valve shrouding may kill your hp numbers since you had to notch the block to clearance for the valves.
True. Would have required a 30 thousands bore, but I wanted to keep that meat in the block since they are bad about cracking.
A dieselsite fuel heater would prolly help it start since going no glowplugs

Where are those plastic quick connects from? Also where have you used them? Would be cool if they could adapt onto a lot of different stuff like coolant hose outlets and such
They come direct from AirDog, they have a few different sizes and angles. I have only personally used them on my fuel systems, but I don’t see why you couldn’t use them for anything else!

(to preface this is an amazing truck,) i don't think ether is bad idea, but maybe you could use a diesel coolant heater to help with start up, but if that's too expensive. a another option is a thermostart intake heater in the spider( like the SD style), but to lessen the impact on flow you can try trimming it or have it be flush with the ID of the spider, or just take it out and plug it after it starts, it does need a fuel source, the gage port should be fine.
Not a bad idea! A coolant heater would have to be placed in the radiator and have a way to circulate since the block is filled, or placed in a coolant port on the heads above the hard block. But some type of intake heater would probably work good.
Are you planning on racing or daily driver with this beast? Beautiful engine and I really appreciate the attention to detail.

@@Atomic_Diesel Cool. let me know how the electric fans work out for you. I live in Alaska and don't really do any heavy towing and have been considering E fans. Rarely gets over 80F on the Kenai Peninsula. From what I've read, the clutch fan parasites up to 25 hp.
