Check it out, kids: fearlessness, vision and wit from an Australian PM!
Sorry 'bout the rubbish quality of VHS tapes and pre-digital TV.
As Treasurer from 1983, then Prime Minister from '91 to '96, Paul Keating ensured Australians received a regular healthy dose of invective and imagery on the nightly news from Canberra.
These are excerpts from old VHS recordings of PJK doing his thing in the House of Representatives... mostly from his final term (1993-1995) vs Opposition Leaders John Hewson, Alexander Downer and John Howard.
(Plus a few unrelated odds and sods not in the Keating playlist!)

Fischer to Keating: will the PM apologise to Sir John Kerr's family? (1995)
Просмотров 22 тыс.3 года назад
Nationals leader Tim Fischer seeks an apology from the PM to the former GG's family. Paul's response is civil... and as unyielding as you'd expect, from the standard-bearer of Labor warriors. The Government's blueprint for the Republic of the Commonwealth of Australia had been announced by Paul Keating the previous night. It proposed that the Governor General's Reserve Powers (with which Kerr d...

A lier ha ha ha go Paul
A 2 faced prick who used his wife to cover his true nature.
Free-styling this is crazy
Howard never believed in social support for families. He wanted to totally dismantle the social welfare safety net. What a dreadful person and prime minister he was.
What an irritating prat , Peter " wish i was Paul Keating" Costello was even back in opposition. Howard clearly used him as a "disruptor" in Question time, using infantile tactics such as reading out job references from Keating's young adulthood.. Pathetic. Yes, PJK was a " demolition politician" as journalist Paul Kelly referred to him as , but Keating did it with wit and intelligence , his eye was always on the "main game" , changing legislation for the good....his insults had purpose, were cutting and were about achieving the real goal..Costello was just a smarmy ,empty sidekick to the little fascist from Bennelong ..The words " Low altitude flyer "should sit on his grave stone
I thought Downer's policy was excellent and just what the country needed. These were some disgraceful scenes.
Just look at the sneering look on Costello’s face as he looks at John Howard.

Basket weaving lefties and reganomics right wingers …. A classic Keating put down!!
Keating was absolutely brilliant in parliament. The liberals were rabble!
Classic Keating. Vaudeville with knives.😊
ORRRDA
So keatings been in China's pocket for a long time.
Absolutely stinging
10years into that prick, and a hell of a lot a cutdown and therapy for me??
I was watching the rubbery figures and there are a couple of the characters I wasn't sure about so I came here
When Keating was in full flight, few could land a glove on him.
Curly!
Howard was a breath of fresh air, with his dynamic, forward thinking and radical policies.
Costello and downer totally schooled here
South Australia apologises for people like Downer , rich wealthy families that aren't very intelligent and don't have a lot of genetic diversity
Where is Albo now? Lets advance it! Take up the question!
Labor isn't wanting to push the republic after the voice defeat.
Those hydraulic leavers😂🎉
Split or fuse, endothermic or exothermic????
Gorebee🎉😅😊
Just think about for a while a bit more, they're a bit more succinct
Where Kim Beazley notes the occasion with good grace and statesmanship, Keating uses his undoubted intellect to indulge in schoolyard bullying taunts.
After all this, John Howard went on to become one of the longest serving PM's in Australian history. So far, everything after John, has been Liberal ordinary to yet another shocking Labor retarding mess.
The video seems to be playing at a slower speed and the voices are perhaps a bit deeper. I could be wrong. Thanks for sharing. These videos are invaluable for those of us who love seeing these videos.
What was the bloke in the public gallery yelling about?
Hi Jem, do you have the original unchanged version of the Velveteen Rabbit? I remember it so well as a kid, but the one you posted has many changes with songs and even some removed. Thanks so much !!!
If Australia does get nuclear submarines. We may need complementary nuclear warheads. A good place to test them will be the Yorkshire Moors in Britain. Britain did set the precedent by testing their nuclear weapons in South Australia.
Why would he apologise as sir john kerr did what he did
Keating alone was the intellectual equal of all three of the opposition hacks combined!
Back when Australian politicians tried to make it at least SEEM like they were doing their job. These days they’re too busy teeing up CEO positions post-pollie life, and having their children given free access to secret clubs and ‘entitlements’.
How funny that Costello would go on to run Fairfax, and PK is still right - "nobody's running Fairfax"
The national party can be summed up easily...A bunch of inbred hillbilles who have the combined iq of a door knob
thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank
The most miserable time for the liberal party ever! 😂
Time to bring back Peter Costello.
I'd forgotten what a consumate moron Tim Fisher was. Thanks for reminding me with this clip.
Howard's speech almost described the Morrison years...
He was our Cicero
Boots Howard as they were hanging out of George Bushs arse!!!!
Paul Keating: two men and a dog don’t make a family. Our first outwardly homophobic PM
I enjoyed watching him commit oratory murder, but in this particular occasion he was totally wrong as history has proven
Fair enough and so did I. Wrong in what way?
@@JemClarkeBecause they can and have run 3 runway ops at Sydney for years. They don't often get used due to the prevailing winds.
@@ray.shoesmith Simops as routine would be less safe? Bar the winds? Maybe, yet it's all politics. 3 planes is less safe than 2

Paul Keating was just a nasty individual
lol mcque then dethroned john howard of bennelong
Its a shock we went from an intelligent foeward thinking giant, Keating, to the pathetic windbag and ecinomic vandalism of Howard.
Glory days.....
