- Excerpts from Order in the House, hosted by Maxine McKew, broadcast on ABC TV in 1994. Alexander Downer's leadership is looking shaky and Labor is ahead in the polls...
Doing Downer too quickly arguably became Keating's undoing.
If only the ALP fought like this now.
These people spent a lot of time in politics to get to this level ,people simply won't put that amount of time in now so we'll never see anything like this again
@@James-kv6kb All the senior LNP members are veterans, many from the Keating/Hawke era, which would be the equivalent to Keating time at this period having started in the Whitlam govt.
@@ccthornley This is my point, a lot of the young people today seem to think that you can just walk into the office and do it straight away, as you say it takes years to get to the level where they can be trusted with the big job
Keating humilated these retared liberals, most were ALP etc: Costello, Pyne etc.
Oh, i was around, i remember Keating humiliating these flogs . More importantly , bot .... you're finished !!!LOLLOLOLOL
PJ at the peak of his power, and a lot of zip here... how lucky was Honest John to only have old curly and the knee in his way for the leadership..
Keating famously did Hewson slowly; his undoing was doing Downer too quickly.
@@JemClarke couldn't be helped.. Curly just collapsed..

Keating is the most brilliant politician we have had. Love watching these videos. Bravo PJK
Watching in 2021, the hypocrisy of a Liberal making that opening comment makes your jaw drop!
0:00 Plot twist: Downer can see into the future and was really asking PM John Howard.
Oh boy I miss his parliamentary performances
As you say, doing Downer too quickly arguably became Keating's undoing. Perhaps looking back at this he might regret promoting the 'Member for Bennelong' as a contender for the leadership...
Keating always knew Howard was their best leader. Hawke did as well. The problem Keating ran into and didn't see it coming was that Howard by 1995 had the party behind him. Peacock and all his forces with the exception of Moore and Tuckey had all moved on giving Howard free reign of the part. Keating could always taunt Howard. He misread Peacock & co all leaving in the space of 18 months.
bloody hell Maxine McKew was a smokeshow back in the day
But she was the last person to unseat a sitting PM from his own seat.
Yep and a first class mind too. The ALP not using her properly in the Rudd Gilliard fallout was the silliest thing they have ever done
@@millertas how long did she last?
@@bashuppark one term John Alexander won the seat in 2010
Yes Maxine Mcwho???
Keating gave me increases in my Super allocation . Libs must have been stewing giving us that
Yeah well.. we went there, and his legacy is just as bad or worse than Keating foresaw.
0:47 Here is the *true hero* of the 2007 election, Maxine McHew when she was still working for the ABC. Maxine McHew stood for, and won the Federal seat of Bennelong, unseating *Little Johnny* Howard, who not only lost his seat, he also deservedly lost the Prime Ministership that year, and *GOOD RIDDANCE!* Maxine McHew only served one term, but what she did in defeating Howard will place her forever in the ranks of true heroes. From me, a *heartfelt thank-you* to Maxine McHew for ridding Australia of the *worst-ever Prime Minister* Australia has ever had. Even worse than *Pig-Iron Bob Menzies, the filthy-rotten TRAITOR!*

Liberals talking about inequality ??? Cmon
Imagine stealing this from the ABC and then putting your own watermark on it? Truly bizarre.
Not stolen: recorded from free-to-air non-commercial television, retained for decades, digitised, and credited as such.
The ones without watermarks have been lifted in their entirety and re-uploaded, verbatim, on other channels with no attribution or context.
By all means feel free to copy and use excerpts from my videos. They appear in some great compilations made by others. The watermark isn't that obtrusive, is it?
Mr Howard was a far better Prime Minister than creepy Keating ever was.
Ok boomer whom I assume wears speed dealer sunglasses
How so?

"Mr Howard' is the reason we are in so much trouble today. Not only his mismanagement of our boom, but his ousting of anyone who could unseat him left the Liberal Party with the bottom of the barrel nutjobs they are today.
A better PM for who exactly? The Murdoch's and packers perhaps?
thats why you never vote labour
If you can’t spell Labor, I don’t think people should take your voting advice.
Holier than thou Abbott, Voldemort Dutton and Slow Mo is the reason you should never vote Liberal.
You would rather someone who fucks off to Hawaii while bushfires rip through the country?
