Replacing The Throttle Body on my 1999 Audi B5 A4 2.8l Quattro and New VAG Software
I recently purchased a replacement OBD11pro for my Misplaced OBD11. I found that my throttle body was malfunctioning and needed to replace it as soon as possible. Once I replaced it I found that I needed additional assistance with getting the vehicle to operate correctly. I found Diagnostic Software for VW-Audi Group Cars to assist with realigning my throttle body and I already have plans for use of the software.

VW Project / How to Change Your AC Compressor on a MK4 Jetta
Awesome job sir
@uniquelyrose4476 Thank You for taking time out to view and also comment.
Did you recover the refrigerant first? Did you tape off AC lines when removed to not allow moisture in the system? Just wondering because I’m doing mine soon
Did you change your compressor? My compressor still works fine, but I'm looking to upgrade it with one that has variable valves or whatever they're called. (Modern compressors mk5 or above have it) - When idling or driving regularly the AC barely keeps up, it's blowing cold, but not freezing cold. - When I'm driving at high RPM or on the highway at high speed it freezes my ass off.
@@Buciasda33 I swapped in a new compressor, it was frozen up at first but it finally broke free and it works perfect
I wonder if there is a way to replace the stock AC compressor with a new one more "powerful", sort of "upgrade"
That would be Super Cool. You would have to be careful it would probably feel like you were in the freezer 😆.
@@curbsidemechanic3229 :) on my Golf MK IV 1.6 16v when the AC compressor is engaged I suffer a drastic power loss that perhaps could be mitigate using a more efficient compressor
do you know the reference -parting number for a golf 3 cabrio 1.6 ?
how did you get that 3rd bolt out with the head in the way
Peace, I think I know exactly what you are talking about. I don't know the size of the 3 bolts off hand, but you have to use a wrench. You can remove the first 2 bolts with a socket. To reach the 3rd bolt you will have to use a wrench. The head does interfere with getting the socket seated properly on the head of the bolt. I hope this helps you out.
I have the same car. Everytime I go to the dearlership I bust out laughing at the prices. Self-serve auto parts yards are a good source for parts.
Lousy design Vw Audi notorious for substandard rubber and plastic parts
As long as they are able to be replaced, it's OK with me.
that sucks it was the wrong part, lmao. I love the shot at the end of you workin til late

What fault scanner is this
I use an OBD Eleven Pro scan tool. It works on VW, Audis, Skoda Seat, Bentley Lamborghini and now BMWs as well.
Awesome video! Would automatic be the same thing?
There are a few small differences but this video should walk you through that process ruclips.net/video/wTYuGG4ijgw/видео.htmlsi=WyNH7bLl5omaw9X9 Thanks for watching.
🤦🤦🤦
Need to remove the negative connector first dude!
its so weird my coolant came out same color and i only have pink in it
Yeah, It was something the previous owner may have done. It's good if you are able to drain your coolant system, flush it, and then refill it with the proper G-12 coolant.
Great video! For anyone who doesn't have a complete door frame from wreckers, it's possible to purchase the Green Sliders separately, if that's the only part that has failed. Note that the slides are sold in pairs, so order the correct side. If your cables are munched, frayed or broken, it's best to purchase the complete cable assembly, otherwise known as the window regulator. Again, there are left-handed and right-handed versions. Replacing the regulator requires drilling out and replacing a few rivets. It's also possible to buy the just cable, drum and plastic slides, but it's a major pain to install. Ask how I know!
Jeez that’s a good one 😂
This car teaches you, I hope you don't ever have to do a timing belt and timing chain tensioner at the same time! This car has both, lol.
Did he remove the whole intake manifold or is it on bro didn’t give no additional info just the basics terrible video
I’m curious what issues you were experiencing while driving that made you track down the crank case his breather.
Sorry so slow. My check engine light came on, I ran a diagnostic check with my OBD11 scan tool, and it told me I had a vacuum leak. From there, I started listening under the hood. It was easy to pinpoint where the leak was coming from. I pulled out my flash light and started looking between the inlets for the intake manifold. It wasn't hard to find
Good morning. Do you have the table adjustment for this engine that you Can shear with me ? The exact tork for the re ensambling or the 3.2 v6 AXZ engine
There is absolutely no need for the 'music'. If I want to listen to music while watching the video I'll choose my own, thank you! Great video by the way :)
LOL, Thank you for taking time out to watch this video and commenting on it as well.
Great video! I'm looking for a VW so I've been watching random videos on RUclips. I'm glad I found yours! If I get one, this is exactly how I will have to work on it.
That's Awesome Vawesome, I look forward to hearing about your future VW adventures. I have had so much fun in the many VW platforms that I have had a chance to drive. Keep me posted.
i doubt youll see this but what is the name of the part under the intake manifold its hosess that seem like the pcv systen but idk its brittle n broke
Hello, I'm not sure exactly what part you're speaking of. Is it something that I may have changed in the video? Or is this something that you have on your vehicle that needs to be changed?
Salute my brother about to make my mK4 a manual.
Peace @wordplay1127 I have not had the pleasure of completing a manual swap yet but definitely more power to you. Let me know how it works out for you. What size engine is in your mk4? What's the name you call it?
Nothing sounds like a VR6 . Had a mk2 w a 12v swap years ago . I always liked the 2L ABA for hitting the back roads but I would wake up in the middle of the night just to fire up that VR and make it sing
Yeah man no matter where I got the jackstand the tire goes under there if I'm under there ✌️
Hello mate what clutch kit did you use?
The first time around I used some no name kit from ebay . The second time around I used a spec stage 2 kit. Go with something name brand...
Thanks for the video, I gotta do mine this weekend
You are welcome.
Would this be the same process on a 2004 volkswagen golf with the 1.9 TDI?
I have yet to work on a TDI but I would imagine the process would be similar IJS
@Curbside Mechanic it most definitely is I followed this video step by step and was able to remove the transmission. I didn't notice if you completely removed your transmission mount or not but I left mine on and I'm sure it would of been easier if I removed it. As well as the pasaanger side axle cup I left mine on.
Those “little knicks” on the pistons are not from the valves. Those indentions are from the factory on the pistons. You have to look on the edges of those to see if the valves hit them too bad.
Great video. Good, clear camera views and great audio. Thank you
Thank You Sir
Was this an automatic or manual? And are there any differences in the process between the two?
This particular vehicle was a manual. There are a few small differences between the two. I know the shift towers are different on removal and you have to align the torque converter on the installation for the automatic transmission.
Not only was it a good informative video, it was funny as hell too! Cut cut.. ok take 6.. Action😂 loved it
Curbside Mechanic, dude, just like other reviewers I'm giving you two thumbs up not only for pulling this job on the curbside but also coming up with a very good video while you're at it AND trying to help responding every question. The latter part, very unusual. The info you dished out is very helpful for me as am gearing up to do the job this weekend for the first time in my MK4 Jetta TDI.

Thanks for making this vid. It helped me sort out the pcv on my 2000 a4
@randombanana Glad I could be of assistance.
Couple questions for you. What did you do for the upper intake mounts that bolted onto the stock exhaust heat shield? Also did your motor have secondary air injection built into the manifold?
@UltimateClappage I had purchased my parts for the Exhaust and I had someone at a local shop install everything for me. I'm not sure about the upper intake bolts and it is possible the SAI was connected to the manifold. I removed the SAI pump after the installation of the exhaust because it was not connected to anything.
I have a very important question. I’m stuck getting the actual trans down. The flange to the passenger side axel is getting caught on the back of the flywheel. How do I get that around the flywheel and past the subframe on the driver side? Do I just drop it straight down? Because, it gets caught on either of thise.
Hello McFrank. To be honest with you, I just raised and lowered the actual engine block until the transmission came out.
Yep, that was a massive struggle for me as well
Any parts left over from this project???
@Michael O'Connell What are you looking for? I have the old parts still. Cams, valves, springs etc...
@@curbsidemechanic3229still have valves ?
Yes, I still have them.@@angelortiz9808
Can you really remove the axels without disconnecting them from the wheels? This would save so much time if you don’t have to remove it from the wheel side.
@Z M 😆 Yes you can disconnect the axels without removing the center bolt from the wheel side. You are actually supposed to replace the bolt on the wheel side if you remove it. Just remove the 6 bolts from the transmission side and tie the axels up with some bungee straps or rope.
Were the headers for a MK4 or were they listed as MK3 headers, I can't find any MK4 headers besides the TT Long Tubes
@Skull island101 I'm not sure how they were listed when I purchased them. It did fit on my car but it did vibrate on the subframe slightly. I see now that they say they are for a 93 to 99 Jetta. Smokey, my black mk4 was actually a 99 model. I hope you find something for your car. The car sounded great with that header and the exhaust from 42 Draft Designs 🔥
@@curbsidemechanic3229 99 was a split year, so you are running a MK3 header, good to know
I am doing the same job thanks for the video. It's helping me out it back together.
Dude, this was amazing.
Gotta take off the sub frame to make ur life easier
Great Video, Camera angles and explanation, well done brother. Is it the similar process for the Auto transmission ?
Thank You. The removal is the same.
Going to be doing this next weekend. Just trying to watch as many videos before I try. I’ve been hearing it may be linkage that is causing my car not to properly shift into 3rd and 4th I have to either be turning a corner or smash it into gear a few times for it to go
how's the replacement going? any improvements or comments? looking to fix my auto trans too.
I took out my transmission the same way you did but now I have trouble putting it back in
Hey @Crystal colon I hope you were able to reinstall your transmission. If you were able to view the entire video you'll notice I had difficulty with mine as well. The manual transmission seems to go back into place with less difficulty.
I put it in but I have a 2-inch gap how can I adjust on the top around the rim so two of my boats are not going in I have an automatic transmission how can I adjust the top should I take out the motor amount that is on top holding the transmission
@@crystalcolon3039 Yup, I know exactly what your talking about. Once I got the Transmission down for a second time. I realized there were prongs on the transmission that align with slots on the Torque Converter. That eliminated the gap and allowed me to get the bolts back in. I hope this helps.
