This project was made possible through the generous donation of David Krill, Bus Ad ‘64, a long time supporter, adjunct professor, and co-founder of the real estate program and Center for Real Estate. “Ignatius Loyola, Pilgrim” was created by artist Gino Tassara of Inspired Artisans, Ltd., a local Milwaukee artist studio located in the Near West Side. Special thanks to the Jesuit community in Milwaukee for their deep input and collaboration toward the creation of the final sculpture. And thanks to Marquette team members including John Novotny, Lora Strigens and Kathy Kugi-Tom for bringing the project to fruition. This is the first statue of St. Ignatius of Loyola, the founder of the Jesuits, on Marquette’s campus. Located outside the Alumni Memorial Union and near the Chapel of the Holy Family, the statue resides in a seated position, welcoming students, alumni, and others to sit next to it and experience a feeling of fellowship with St. Ignatius, who continues to bless the lives of every person who interacts with our great university. We are blessed to have this new and special feature on our campus for all to enjoy for generations!
