Catholic Bible Highlights with Kenny Burchard
США
Добавлен 15 авг 2013
I'm Kenny Burchard, a former non-Catholic Pastor who converted to the Catholic Church in 2019, along with my wife and son. My day job is as Director of Development for The Coming Home Network, where I also help as a co-host of the "On The Journey" show.
This channel is primarily devoted to Catholic Bible Highlights -- a video series embracing the credo - "The Bible is the Bridge." If Catholics can help their separated brethren understand that there is nothing Catholics believe that is contrary to Biblical teaching we can help them make the journey into full communion with the Church Jesus founded - The Catholic Church! This takes a lot of work and commitment. Still, it's worth it because we get to spend our time enjoying and learning more about what the Bible really teaches, and how the Catholic Faith and Biblical Christianity are synonymous terms.

Did Mary REMAIN A Virgin? - Pt. 2 - Consecrated Virgins??

RUclips is full of supposed "slam-dunk biblical evidence" in Matthew 1:25, proving that Joseph and Mary entered into a sexual relationship after Jesus was born. But is this actually what Mat. 1:25 is teaching? Do the most conservative Biblical commentators and the original Protestant Reformers agree that Joseph and Mary had a sexual relationship? I used to preach against the Dogma of Mary's perpetual virginity. After all, the Bible seems clear that Jesus had brothers and sisters. These must have been Jesus' half-brothers and sisters by Joseph and Mary, right? Wrong! In this multi-part series, we'll be looking at the FIVE big reasons Catholics insist that Mary was always a virgin even after Jesus was born, and for the rest of her life. L...

How Catholics Get Saved [8+ Verses to highlight]
Просмотров 8 тыс.14 дней назад
Are you saved? Have you accepted Jesus into your heart through the sinner's prayer? These are questions non-Catholics often ask Catholics out of a deep conviction that Catholics are not really Christians, don't know Jesus, and need to join their version of Christianity in order to be true Christians. But what does the Bible actually teach about what it means to be saved? As Catholics, we take i...
Praying To Mary?? [22+ Verses to Highlight]
Просмотров 7 тыс.21 день назад
Non-Catholics accuse Catholics of idolatry and necromancy, and assure us that since Mary isn't omniscient, omnipotent, or omnipresent, there's no way she can hear our prayers anyway plus, we must be violating the Bible's teaching that there is only ONE mediator between people and God JESUS! But, as we'll see, once again, Catholic truth and Biblical Christianity are synonyms for the same thing! ...

Non-Catholics love to tell Catholics that they preach a false gospel of legalism and "works righteousness" when Catholics insist there is an inseparable and essential link between faith and works and when they insist that a person cannot be saved by faith without works. Are Catholics the ones making the heretical error here? Find out in this important episode of Catholic Bible Highlights. THE R...

No Tradition? Fine. NO CHRISTIANITY! [13 Verses To Highlight]

Have you ever been told that true Biblical Christian faith and tradition are at odds? After all, Jesus didn't have much, if anything, good to say about tradition. "Sinners Prayer" evangelists often ask Catholics if they "know for sure" if they're saved, and whether or not they've said the sinner's prayer and "asked Jesus into their heart." They will often point to 1 John 5:13 as the best verse to prove that simply believing in Jesus should assure us of certain salvation and eternal security. But is that what this verse (or the entire letter of 1 John) ac...

I'm currently in a three way discussion on baptism. Catholic Baptist and a Church of Christ . Did John the Baptist baptism forgive sin?
Dave is theMan!
Dave Armstrong is the best Catholic apologist alive.
Even worship on Sunday is a tradition, Easter is a tradition, Christmas, etc ....God bless!!
The sinners prayer ive heard it at the end of Orthodox online Liturgical services the Priest says it outloud and then the grade school aged children repeat it its so cute !
Matt.13:55,56...James (Jacob), Joses, Simon and Judas and unnamed sisters. They were looking for Jesus to stop talking nonsense and come back do some real work (carpentry) to support the family, most likely Joseph was no longer alive.
An easy effective way to evangelize to Protestants and Evangelicals is simply ask them to google search on these words : church destroyed but Mary statue untouched God gives us so many signs to see but some choose not to see them. There are dozens and dozens of story's on the internet from all over the world on the Mary Statue phenomena. From earthquakes and fires and hurricanes even Churches that were bombed, the Blessed Mother stands uncorrupt. It'd be a great book if someone really took the time and went through every story and put these miracles in order and the details in each.
Verses to be highlighted... Infallable Authority of the Church 1. Foundation 2. Scripture 3. Sacred Tradition 4. Magisterium Foundation 1. Ephesians 2 : 19 - 20 2. I save all of your in-depth talks in the hopes that I can use them to explain the Catholic position on all of these Catholic teachings, especially on Mary since her role in salvation history seems to be the most common issue that comes up. Thank you so much. (And I just have to say that you have been a great addition to "On the Journey".
This notetakers BIble looks great and a great price. My question is about it being the NRSV. Isn't the inclusive language of it... frustrating? I'm hoping to get a bulk order for my students at my Catholic high school. We do serious Bible study and annotating. I need to find something cheap enough that we can justify ordering this for the whole school, but I don't know, the NRSV is just so... clunky with the inclusive language. And I want them to have something closer to the originals.
Superb sublime transcendent video presentation my catholic brother Kenny, for everything that you speak of will not be understandable to others outside the Body of Jesus and Mother Mary and why do I say Mother Mary also it’s because Jesus Christ The Son Of God Took His Flesh from the Flesh of Mother Mary now Isn’t that The Irrefutable Undeniable Truth, furthermore I want to say this that it is seriously painful that people feel Mother Mary is nothing to God or just an ordinary woman who gave birth to Christ Jesus the Son of God and that’s all that she was to do.Now for people who believe that Mother Mary has nothing to do with Jesus Christ her son according to the flesh then why did Jesus listen to Mother Mary’s request at the wedding feast to perform the miracle of water turned into WINE.Plus if people don’t believe that there are people in heaven already then let them explain when Jesus Christ WROSE FROM THE DEAD THE THIRD DAY AND ITS SAID IN SCRIPTURE THAT MANY OTHERS WERE RESURRECTED ALONG WITH JESUS AND WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE THAT WROSE WITH JESUS CHRIST?🤔
Jesus is lord
Hi. One day can you talk about the difference between imputed and infused righteousness? I’ve used King James Bible for a long time and in Romans it has the word imputed. Can you help?
The fiery test. Written about the time of the burning of Rome and Nero and the persecution of Christians. It’s about suffering as Christians in an ungodly world.
Yes it is Biblical to confess to a priest. What a wonderful explanation Kenneth. I’m learning a lot from you. God continue to Bless you in this wonderful teaching you do. This is my 2nd video I watched to your channel. I will definitely watch this again when I received my note taker Bible and do my notes. God Bless🙏🙏🙏
Good stuff Check out St Jerome vs Helvidius on this.
this a great thanks bro, i have a question about the sabbath maybe you can answer it. why is it no longer worshipped on saturday and instead sunday
Excellent presentation. Thank you for putting this together
Thief on cross. Baptism by desire or martyrdom.
We've dealt with that at length, in the show and here in the combox.
Excellent
Thank you so much 😀
This is awesome! New subscriber here. I learned a lot and took notes of all the list of authority and unity of the Catholic Church. Continue what you do Kenneth. God Bless you🙏🙏🙏
Thanks so much!
Wow what an amazing video Thank you so much.

Hi Bro. Kenny, thank you for the videos, helps us to understand better out Catholic Faith. Hope and pray you can also make a series on how to methodically study the scriptures. New subscriber here. Steve God Bless!
Thank you Bro. Kenny for your life. God Thank the Lord for your program, It would help us a lot in our Catholic journey. am from Puerto Princesa City, Palawan, Philippines.
Thank you so much for this enlightening informations Mr. Burchard and Mr. Armstrong. I am a Filipino Missionary priest serving the Catholic Church of Christ here in the Nissan Islands, Bougainville papua New Guinea. And just like you both, i had my baptism to evangelical protestants wayback april 1986. Was 6 years in the denomiation until i was called back miraculously by the Crucified Lord- not only to go home to my Catholic faith but become one of his alter Christus in the Eucharist. Long live to you both! Praying for you
Glad you like it. God bless your missionary work and thanks so much for your prayers!
Dude. This is nuts. I can't unsee this now. Thank you!
@@Randyg4636 great. Share more. Glad you’re here.
@@KennyBurchard yeah I’ve been really interested in apologetics for the past year, and I’d been thinking about the concept of Mary’s (perpetual) virginity, and you hit it out of the park. I’ve never heard an explanation this good. I will definitely be listening to all of your videos now! Thanks, and God bless you!
Woke up at three this morning and thank Holy Spirit for leading me to your channel which found me answers to many doubts that troubled me lately. Thank you so much. God bless you!
Wonderful!
New subscriber. So glad to be here! Thank you!😊
I thank God for my Savior Jesus...my flesh fights my spirit that is saved. This flesh will die, but my spirit that received salvation will live in God's love. I thank God for Jesus taking all my sins and HIS good works. The flesh will go through challenges until we die...works and actions while we are alive have consequences ON EARTH. I will not take away anything from the free gift God has provided. Scripture is twisted so many times, even by people that mean well. The flesh is driven by works, the Spirt is driven by love and the FINISHED "Work" of Jesus. When we die, the flesh/sin will perish and the only thing we have is our new body that is fire proof ;) God deals with the flesh while we are alive on earth. Jesus used ALOT of parables and His Word through His Spirit after He went to Heaven in the new testament. Father, please open blind eyes and help us see we don't need to pray to Mary and that we can't help people out of trouble after they're dead by praying for them or buying things. Please help people see that Idols are Idols no matter what the justification is...Jesus Amen
Awesome 😊thank you for helping me understand better what I always was taught as a cradle catholic❤
I am a born Catholic but really was a bit away for many years. I am back and trying to relearn again. Listening to people like you is helping me a lot. Thank you!
What about when God had Moses make a golden snake to heal but the later broke it? My Protestant family say this is because one should not have any images made.
Baptism is how one enters the New Covenant, life in the New Covenant is eternal. What is so hard to understand?
Not much, but unfortunately, man-made traditions get in the way.
Thank you for another excellent and insightful video. May the Lord continue to Bless you in abundance in your Ministry.
You are so welcome
👍
The funny thing about “Sola Scriptura” I never see discussed is *no one reads the Bible in a vaccum*. To use ANY study bible or ANY ‘extra-biblical’ help in understanding implies a Biblical tradition! So why on earth would I trust, say, John MacArthur or Martin Luther or Charles Spurgeon when we have over 1,500+ years of writings of church fathers and saints?
If I had to "pick 6" for a Catholic for a broad perspective, I would choose, 1. Hahn's RSV-2CE Ignatius Study Bible for the best notes in print, 2) NAB for a middle ground translation and even for the "liberal" notes to compare to Hahn's. 3) Catholic Reader's Bible Confraternity edition by Sophia Press. Only has the New Testament in two books ), but is printed in the form of regular hardcover books (single column, no notes, just pure text) with some formal language but not as formal as Duay Reims. Reads like a novel on normal book paper, 4) Knox Bible. Again, not as formal as Duay Reims, but quite poetic and he has some interesting translation choices. 5) English Language Version Catholic Edition (Augustine Bible). Thin. Feels great in hand. No notes to slog through. More formal equivalency with latest scholarly info on sources. 6) NLV. New Living Translation Catholic Edition. It's not a "study Bible" and is sometimes mocked as being corny, but when read in conjunction with others or reference it is great. It's not a paraphrase but rather a simplified readable text. Heck, sometimes you just want a confirmation that you know what the verse says! :). I find myself reaching for this one a lot. It is not poetic, but it does a respectable job of modernizing text without being absurd.
Thank you for enlightening me so clearly. I had it wrong and now I feel that I can direct my life better.
Is it possible that perhaps the thief was baptized three years earlier?
Yeah, it's possible. But if so, it doesn't change the principle of not being bound to a sacrament if one is unable to obtain it for whatever reason. God is a merciful God. He doesn't let people go to hell for eternity for a thing like that. He knows their hearts.
Great job, as always! It's nice to see you two together. 👍
Thanks much!
I have a question. I love the ESV Catholic Bible and, as a Catholic, I am thinking of either ESV Study Bible. What are your thoughts on this?
I’ll be recommending this video to the RCIA director at my parish. I’m a convert & work with RCIA as a sponsor. Thank you for this awesome lesson on purgatory.🙏❤️
I love the way your videos show the beauty of Scripture. As a reformed protestant, I would have described the "have been saved", "are being saved", and "will be saved" stages as justification, sanctification and glorification. And I would have agreed that we must persevere to the end but would have put that in God's court via the P in TULIP. God would "preserve" me if I was one of the elect. I love your boat analogy and the picture it paints of abiding in Christ. Thank you Kenny!
Are these bibles also available online. 83 with bad Shoulder issues….bibles too heavy & often too small print. Help! Please do a post on this subject. Much more time, but can not do a real book anymore.
I did find it really handy to see the references up for a long time. Saved me hitting pause all the time to make the notes in my Bible. (I also have a note book coming that will allow me to write more and be independent of a single physical copy of the Bible.
Glad you like it. I think it works well because it combines writing with a verbal presentation.
@@DaveArmstrong1958 Making some kind of note does help it sink in. Even if you can't remember the exact verse these days you can look it up via an internet search engine to look it up.
As I always say about the thief on the cross. If you find yourself hanging on a cross next to Jesus.... You may not need to be baptised. I would be interested in his work on works etc. Great work. Something used against baptism is the bit about Paul not baptising people at the beginning of 1 Corinthians (which he noted as there was factionalism, I follow Paul, I follow Peter, I follow Apollos) and ignore the bits around it.
I am wondering why “Pastor Kenny” didn’t do more research before preaching against Purgatory, like just picking up a copy of the CCC and looking at what the other side had to say? Or, just Google it? Same for the Ex-Catholics in his congregation.
Thank you greatly my catholic brother Kenny for your excellent video and all other videos that you make and present them, but there’s one thing that I want to mention to you since now that you are a Catholic and that is when Jesus Christ said from the crucifix to his mother woman behold your son and that obviously was referring to John the disciple of Jesus who was also at the base of the crucifix with his mother Mary, now it’s more obvious and clearer than daylight that Jesus is telling his mother that this is your son so wouldn’t that make John the apostle a brother of Jesus Christ to since Jesus said to his mother behold your SON WHOO WEE who has understanding let them understand truth in it’s clearness
