daim! amazing!
magnifico tutorial 👏
Very, very, well explained. Thank you.
I hope you and your family are alright… you are missed! All the best
Awesome! The quickest and easiest approach I have seen to accomplish this. This has really helped me have multiple horizon views with relatively small time investment.
Great video. RJ45 and RJ12 are incorrect terms however. The 8P8C and 6P6C connectors do not follow either standard for wiring. RJ45 is actually the standard wiring for Ethernet using the 8P8C modular connector. An EQMOD cable is not wired to that standard.
This video helped me a lot but it seemed complicated and it was hard to be sure all points are in the right place. But I think I found a better solution. I toke a 360 cam and placed it next to my scope. In gimp changed it to be 2048 wide and for some reason I had to shrink the height to be half. Deleted the sky so now I had half of it blank I placed it into stellarium by adding this lines: maptex = DoronBalcony.png angle_rotatez = -40 (My name is Doron…) In stellarium I asked the scope to point to the sun since it was daytime (a covered scope and the sun was behind a wall) and changed the angle_rotation until it was close. In gimp moved the balcony up re-saved closed and opened the app until angle and height was correct (didn’t take too long) And when it was perfect used Alt-1 to move the scope to the corners adding points in Nina’s horizon creator plug in. Saved and inserted into Nina and now I can see what tree is in my way with stellarium. Optional is to add the horizon back to the landscape ini so I could see a border line synced with the one in Nina. And this the final ini file [landscape] name = Doron's Balcony author = Doron Tshuva description = 410/6 polygonal_horizon_list = New_Calcony_horizon.hrz type = spherical maptex = DoronBalcony.png angle_rotatez = -40 ground_color = .35,.95,.25 horizon_line_color = .85,.45,.15 [location] name = Kiryat-Arba planet = Earth country = Israel lattitude = 31.53 longitude = 35.11 alititude = 942.6
awesome feature and demonstration! Can you somehow prevent AF trigger when clouds are there (e.g. plate solve ot phd2 fails)?
One of the best tutorials on the web!
Thank you ❤
Keep it coming. This information is exactly what I need. Thanks
Very welcome! I'm glad it is helping.
One question. Does this plugging take into acount that the images are not calibrates? I mean. I heard that for a precise ADU star information, we need the images should be calibrates. Thanks
This plugin helps with aquisition of the data required, if you look at my follow-on processing videos for exoplanets, you will see that calibration is part of that process. You definitely need to obtain calibration frames to do this properly. You are 100% right.
@ ok Thanks a lot
Thanks to share.
My pleasure
I’ve looked at several videos about this and this is by far the clearest.
Saved ~18 hours of subs on NGC7023. Thank you!
Your cutscenes are annoying as $#@@#$ and honestly, makes me want to go to someone else's video. Totally unnecessary. You have great content and you're my goto channel for tutorials, but those cutscenes just ruin your tutorials.
Do you still need to point your mount north or can you point it anywhere?
Still point north but the precision of aligning the rotational axis will come from the polar alignment process.
Are you not making videos anymore ????
I really 'want' to make videos, but family stuff has been very busy. My daughter Brielle is preparing to return to Arkasas for more treatment for CRPS and 4 of my kids are in college this year... If I can find time, I will defintely get back to it. :)
@@PatriotAstro Wow 4 kids in collage dont know how you do that.. what is crps ??? Well hope you make it back one day , good luck with all
Thanks for the great instructions. Regarding the order of filters chosen according to offsets I do have one warning. My filter wheel (and I only know that one so far) can only turn in one direction! Therefore if the filters in the wheel are LRGBSHO and you would shouffle to e.g. R-LB-GH-SO for shortes offsets this would mean 3 whole rotations (marked with -) of the filter wheele which ads up way more time than a little overshoot compensaiton of the eaf.
Definitely a good point and one that ultimately means people should think about how to apply changes and instructions based on their own setup. As a side note, I have noticed that my filterwheel, while it moves both directions, actually causes issues due to this 'capability'... When moving one way versus the other, there is a subltle difference in the final filter position based on the rotational direction to get there. This results in flats that are slightly off and unable to properly correct. Weird issue that I have only been able to fix by forcing unidirectional rotation of the wheel. It is always something, right ?!? :)
How do I take calibration frames?
Sky Atlas Image Repository for Nina is missing. Has it been incorporated into a newer Nina build?
Thanks great video much appreciated
Is there anyway to do this with photoshop or siril?
I don't know when you recorded this. My version of Nina is the latest 3 point something, and when specifying the guiding software, in the equipment, there is no "Syncronized PHD2" option. I am not getting synchronized dithering. What could I do?
Dude - this video helped me so much when I first started using the Advanced Sequencer. I'm getting used to it now, but today I had a question about where to put the meridian flip. Yours was the first video I went looking for. So very helpful!!!!
Glad it helped!
Superb tutorial - and I'm now up and running with my camera streaming to NINA! One minor change now needed: When you're generating the encryption keys, there's been a slight change in the windows command prompt in windows 11. Instead of "ssh-keygen" you now have to enter ssh-keygen -t rsa otherwise you get the wrong kind of encryption key. I miss Chad, and I hope he's alright 😕
I'm alive :) Family stuff is still crazy, 4 kids in college now, and Brielle is still struggling with CRPS (going back to treatment in the new year). I will be back at it with videos... just too challenging right now. :(
@@PatriotAstro Yay! So good to hear from you. There's nothing that can occupy your mind like family stuff or health stuff. You're in the middle of that venn diagram and I feel for you. Take care buddy - very best wishes from Ireland.
Does Dark Customs calculator work if using a manual filter wheel too?
Thanks
Wow! I didn't know that Hocus Focus was so comprehensive and such a useful plugin. Yet another excellent video from Patriot Astro and full of useful information and tips with no 'waffle' you see in so many RUclips videos. I have no doubt I will need to revisit this video several times for all of it to sink in. Many thanks - just need the clouds to clear.
Very welcome!
made a small donation, prayers
thanks sooooo much! Brielle is heading back to treatment again early this coming year. Every little bit helps!
Somewhat new to this hobby but just purchsed the Mele 4c..works a treat!
hello when you insert the objective in the advanced sequence, are you sure that the telescope goes in that position? to several , after launching the whole sequence that instruction overrides it and does not execute it.
hello I'm trying to learn Nina's Advanced Sequence, but I've seen that when I enter the Basic Sequence Target condition, even though I have the coordinate values, nina doesn't send the telescope to those coordinates, it only works if I enter the slew and center condition, but in this case there are no coordinate values and I have to enter all the data by hand, it seems to me to be standing, do you know how to solve it? Graces It seems strange to me that Nina does not make this important command, to create a completely automatic sequence
Another great video with exactly the info I needed. Thanks!
Why, am I receiving this message The current platform: InvalidPlatform ,Thecurrent platform is not. Supported. Help please?
Chad I hope all is well, Looks like your getting ALOT of rain. I edited my earlier comments when I realized the V2 camera is way to much work (compiling in Linux), so I will just get a V3 camera! Just copy and paste.
Excellent video. Your explanations are extremely good. I wish Stellarium would make it official to add this kind of file and then maybe allow you to edit to the app. Could be amazing with the phone’s sensors
I am just starting out with NINA so this video and sequencer templates will be a great starting point. I have had a few issues with my first attempts at setting up sequences and I am still debugging my whole Dome setup so accessing this information is fantastic!.Thanks, Chad
Is there a way to have NINA stop the image when guiding goes bad due to wind or clouds? Ekos has a way to do this, but I can't figure out how to do this in NINA.
Chad, I will take it as a compliment from you that my movable mount is almost identical to yours! If you would like, I can send you a picture. My question is, you mentioned that you never level the mount with your equitorial mount but just do a polar alignment. Could you please explain that statement or recommend where I can go to learn more about your reasoning? I have been leveling the mount on the tripod once I position in on my lawn but if I don't have to, it would make it easier for me. Thank you for your very helpful videos. mj williams
Thank you a lot for your supportive videos . When I start this plugin it takes almost for ever. It start autofocus 5 minutes later and wait again for each focusing point/ measuring, take a 5 second shot and wait 5 minutes again. It takes me almost 1h for one filter for the first try. I guess this is not normal...any idea why this could happen?
Hi, thanks a lot for your tutorials, are reference for all of us who are starting to become NINA users 🙏 I have a problem to install Hocus Focus on my 3.1 NINA version based on Windows 10 64bits, can you have an idea why? 🤞😉
Great video series. One problem: the WIndows installer from MeLe - despite setting the target as SSD - failed to install the new OS there. Hmmm. The progress of the installer seems to recognize the new 512 GB HDD, however no luck thus far. Second attempt underway. Are there any obvious items to check?

Hi Chad, now I know the reason why you have more than 10k follower, this tutorial is the most important, powerfull and clear I never seen, thanks a lot for your time. I have just a question: in case of multiple targets, if the first one need the meridian flip but the second target is opposite side of pier, the NINA process will be able to mange this particular condition? Ciao ☺ Roberto
Fantastic tutorial!
