    Those are tube worms. A classic sheepshead bait. You can usually find them on sandy flats with a low tide. They come up from the ground and look like a piece of round grass with some barnacles on it.

    I believe those are called parchment tube worms. You can get them at low tide among the rocks and sand.

    Scrape some oysters off of the pilons or wherever you can get them, then grab a bathroom loofah and take a 3x3 piece of it and wrap the oyster in it and hook the knot, and put it on a 1/2th oz sheep head jig and throw near the pilons, you’ll get smoked by sheep’s all day

    What I love about you, J is, you STILL have the enthusiasm of a kid! Bro, don't ever lose that! Enthusiasm is what it's all about, and as we get older, it's hard to keep! Lifes challenges tend to weigh it down! I'm not sure what those worms are. You stumped me, can you believe it? lol But you can bet, I'll look into it! Before I forget. Do they make polarized lenses for your Go Pro? You were seeing all them reds, but all we could see is a flash every now & then. Don't ever get discouraged by "negative" tides as you call it. I absolutely LOVE fishing "moon" tides as we always called it. It's because it is caused by a new or full moon. If the wind is blowing in the same direction as the tide, as you know, it can blow most of the water completely out of Tampa Bay. It can also do the opposite with a big incoming. When a moon tide is incoming and it gets in cahoots with the wind, then you have a "flood tide." Which you know all about! Anyway, I used to plan my trips around moon low tides! If you think about it, it pushes all the fish in close proximity to each other. They won't feed on the dead tide, but a couple hours before dead low, and a couple hours after dead low, is my favorite time to fish! When the bite turns on and off, it's just like someone flipped a switch! But you do have to figure out where the bait went on a moon tide, and the predators are sure to follow. Hint: Look around for the closest structure or drop off, and fish that area. But always make sure the tide is moving first! Good luck, brutha!!!!

    • @JfishyYT
      @JfishyYT 4 дня назад

      Man my plans don’t always go accordingly but when they do It’s the best I try to always have a blast and usually I can’t contain the excitement 😅 You know I haven’t looked into a polarized lens but that would work so great on the sunny days, yeah I realized while editing that they weren’t visible to you guys I thought I had good footage of the reds and snooks but guess not lol Is it a reoccurring thing these kind of tides? I swear I don’t remember them being this low until this year and the end of last year but I’m sure there’s a way to learn these tides and still slay fish! Thanks for the support as always Will I truly appreciate it! Tight lines brotha! 🎣😁

    • @willcordelo3967
      @willcordelo3967 3 дня назад

      Polarized lenses are all I use on my drone it's a HUGE difference! That's why use fishermen used polarized sunglasses! And not just sunny days either! Overcast days are even worse! Those snook were great to hear about. I was extremely worried that it got too cold for them. The water temp. was right on their bottom limit of freezing, and they definitely won't feed! This time of year, when the water warms up on warm days, they WILL feed, but you have to think small and slow for artificials. Their metabolism is far too slow for them to digest large baits! See! You learn all this stuff from the "Capt. Scott Moores Snook Fishing Secrets" book that I was telling everyone about! I call it "The Snook Bible" because it's very easy to read, and it makes sense. The author is G.B. Knowles who collaborated with his good friend Scott Moore to write this amazing book. amazon.com/Captain-Scott-Moores-Fishing-Secrets/dp/0964294206

    I have never fished for sheepheads before but I caught a monster on a soft bait. I use lures 95% of the time. Figured I would give it a try. @@JfishyYT Just check out Google Earth! When the original Skyway was knocked down, they used all the concrete pilings for fishing structure for what became the pier on both ends! They were smart and layed these pilings perpendicular to the pier so it's much harder for fishermen to get snagged on them! And it's not really something you have to find! They are laid on the west side of both piers almost the entire lenght! Going by memory, each pilings starts about 20 yards from the pier and runs west another 20 yards or so! Google Earth shows them plain as day! I knew they were there from reading about it in the St. Pete Times while they were doing it. Then later we checked them out in a boat with my friends Furuno Color Depth Finder! And as J always says! "Man O Man," those things are just teeming with life!!! Then when Google Earth arrived on the scene, The Skyway Piers were the first thing I checked out! And sure enough, plan as day! There they are, exactly as described! DEFINITELY, worth checking out!

  • @willcordelo3967
    @willcordelo3967 11 дней назад

    BRO! What are ya'll doing? lol You catch the 3 best baits for huge predators at the Skyway! I gave you a $400 combo that is perfect for throwing Grunts (Pigfish), Pinfish and those beautiful Pilchards (Greenbacks/Scaled Sardines) or whatever you call them! I kill for baits like that! But you guys would rather throw artificials? You're killing me bro! lol! The Skyway Pier is HOT year round, but you can't just pay your $10 and watch fish jump on your hook! Live bait will ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS outfish artificials! Especially THOSE live baits! Btw! What did you do with those Pilchards? Anytime you have those, put them on a 4 or 5° circle hook and hold on! Everything loves them! Cobia, Jack Crevalle, Bull Reds and even Black Drum will crush them this time of year! LOL I don't know what I'm gonna do with you my brother! smh! 😅

      Hey there! I actually used a 1/8 jig head on the ned shrimp mainly because I wanted a smaller hook to match the size of the lure! But I bet a 1/4 oz jig would still work! I appreciate the comment! Tight lines!! 😁🎣

    Remember me telling you that a good time to fish is low water? The last half of the outgoing, and the first half of the incoming? It's always good for smaller fish because they have to move out of the protection of the Mangroves, and now their only protection is to school up in big numbers where they have to compete with each other for food! However, you still have to learn that the largest predators cruise the outside of these schools of small trout and mullet. And on high water, they hide up in the Mangroves . They love to lay in wait and ambush their prey. That's why the guides cast up into the Mangroves, with weedless lures, such as NLBN Mullets and Mullet K-Tails! There are tons of video's that show you how to do this! Snook and Tarpon explode on those things! J, I sent you some that I rigged up for you with extra tails and hooks. You know the saying! "I can lead you to water, but I can't make you drink." Total Pun Intended! lol I LOVE that you are finally starting to try new things! You are getting to the point where those small trout are no longer the challenge for you that they once were, whether you want to admit it or not. That's natural! They have taught you far more than you realize! Let me ask you. You didn't show a good pic of the "Mud Crabs," but do you mean Fiddler Crabs? Most have one large claw that looks like they are carrying a fiddle around? They live in the little holes near Shore, and Sheepshead love them... If you are going to change lures, which I thought was a great idea. But REALLY try something different! Not a different variation of the same thing! Especially on days where they seem to eat anything. That was a PERFECT day to learn to "walk the dog" with the Zara Spook or Spook Jr. I sent you! Sometimes ONLY, the giant specks will hit those, and the dinks will stay on the bottom looking for shrimp and small crabs! I promise you J, when Trout, and predators hit those spooks there is nothing more fun! Many times they will hit them just to kill them, when they are not even hungry! The spooks are noisy and it seems to make the large trout so aggressive that they will actually knock the Spook a foot or two high! It's so much fun! Yes fishing shuts down after cold fronts, until it warms up a bit, or until the next front is a day or two away! But the fish are still there! They go into a lethargic state and their metabolism slows way down with the cold water, so they don't need to feed until it warms back up!

    • @JfishyYT
      @JfishyYT 16 дней назад

      I really need to learn how to use those spooks for sure! I’m ready for those top water strikes now I think haha But yes I get fiddlers too however sometimes they’re hard to find so I flip over rocks on a low tide and grab the mud crabs that live under them! With all these cold fronts coming in I’m glad I tested this for sure because now I know when not to go spend my time fishing and go out and do some catching lol! As always will thanks for the advice believe me you’ve taught me a lot just with your words and gifts so I truly appreciate it and more of those gifts will be put to use very soon! Thanks for the comment and support as always! Tight lines bro!! 🎣🎣😁

      @JfishyYT Oh I know you will eventually get around to using the things I brought to you, because it's the natural progression for learning new things. I sped up your learning curve because when you finally get ready to try things I've told you about, or to try things you see others or guides doing, you already have many of the things you need! As for the Spooks, my bet is you will be naturally good at it! Some people don't have the rhythm and just can't do it very well! Watch a video or two then go practice. The best way to top water fish is to have a rod devoted to it. That way, if you see fish busting the top, you're ready! You also need to learn how to use that baitcaster! Not on video but you can practice learning to use those anywhere! I learned in my backyard! But, THAT would make a great combo for those small trout and bass! They are a lot of fun when you get the hang of them! YES! Winter fishing is simply a pattern. Fish a day or two before each front, then wait for the next one, it's that simple. If you get cabin fever in between, head to the bridges for Sheepshead! They love cold windy weather! But dress warm!
