@@JfishyYT Just check out Google Earth! When the original Skyway was knocked down, they used all the concrete pilings for fishing structure for what became the pier on both ends! They were smart and layed these pilings perpendicular to the pier so it's much harder for fishermen to get snagged on them! And it's not really something you have to find! They are laid on the west side of both piers almost the entire lenght! Going by memory, each pilings starts about 20 yards from the pier and runs west another 20 yards or so! Google Earth shows them plain as day! I knew they were there from reading about it in the St. Pete Times while they were doing it. Then later we checked them out in a boat with my friends Furuno Color Depth Finder! And as J always says! "Man O Man," those things are just teeming with life!!! Then when Google Earth arrived on the scene, The Skyway Piers were the first thing I checked out! And sure enough, plan as day! There they are, exactly as described! DEFINITELY, worth checking out!
BRO! What are ya'll doing? lol You catch the 3 best baits for huge predators at the Skyway! I gave you a $400 combo that is perfect for throwing Grunts (Pigfish), Pinfish and those beautiful Pilchards (Greenbacks/Scaled Sardines) or whatever you call them! I kill for baits like that! But you guys would rather throw artificials? You're killing me bro! lol! The Skyway Pier is HOT year round, but you can't just pay your $10 and watch fish jump on your hook! Live bait will ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS outfish artificials! Especially THOSE live baits! Btw! What did you do with those Pilchards? Anytime you have those, put them on a 4 or 5° circle hook and hold on! Everything loves them! Cobia, Jack Crevalle, Bull Reds and even Black Drum will crush them this time of year! LOL I don't know what I'm gonna do with you my brother! smh! 😅
I was waiting for your comment Will 😅 I knew when I threw them back I was making a big mistake but on this day the wind was becoming unbearable I wouldn’t have been able to get those baits anywhere but 5ft from the pier lol I actually tried using the green backs free lined but had no catches I only had one decent bite but missed it bro I need to learn that pier well so that I can fish it effectively! I was really targeting the pompano that sometimes are around but no luck next time for sure I’m bringing the big rod and giving it a shot! As always I appreciate the comment and advice bro!
