Unfortunately if they request it you have to give it to them. That’s the reason the devices have DOT Mode on them. Most of the time they’ll just ask you to send them over via email, but occasionally you’ll get that officer that’s extra.

I’m not sure exactly what took place here. It sounds like the original insurance policy may have lapsed which will cause your authority to go inactive. There insurance company typically gives a grace period before they submit it to the FMCSA. Changing insurance companies won’t cause your authority to go inactive. I’ve had 3 different company and didn’t experience going inactive. Call the FMCSA directly. They don’t have a problem with assisting people over the phone. They actually have AMAZING customer service.

Interesting, so they made you shut down early? How long did you have to wait?

@@GRINDTIMETRUCKING They told me to pull around and bring in paperwork. They checked it all out and said i was good on all that but i was a few minutes too early to go through the curfew by like 3 minutes. He said that i was good to go now that the curfew was lifted since i came in and that took a few minutes longer than the 3 i was early with. Not a big deal but if i wasnt that 3 minutes early, i think i woulda gotten the green light and kept on moving. I was hauling a swimming pool , real light, just 14 foot wide.

So I didn’t have a log violation as in running out of hours or anything like that. I received a violation for not being in the correct mode. Instead of being in ELD mode I was in Electronic Logbook mode.

​@jarellesmith4285 Dude, I've never heard it Put as electronic log book mode ir ELD mode. I just know for a fact that your ELD has to be connected to your truck So when your truck is moving the ELD Does changes status automatically, you have no choice As to when you are on duty driving or not, if the truck is moving the ELD itself has to put you in "on duty driving mode".

If you’re a company driver that’s because your company already has you set to ELD mode. Given that I’m an owner operator I can change the settings. I had it on electronic log book mode by accident. Once it was changed to ELD mode it automatically put me one the drive line once I started moving. For people who don’t drive more than 150 miles from their start point/terminal and want to use a log (because they’re not required to use one) they can use electronic logbook mode and edit everything themselves. Hopefully I explained it well.

I know, I have both and have used both in my truck. I just chose to travel with the S because it’s smaller and consumes less power.

To be honest I can’t tell you what’s best because I haven’t used them all. Also best is a relative term. What one person thinks is good another person may this is trash. With that said I do believe Motive formerly KeepTruckin is an amazing ELD. You get some amazing features and a user friendly platform for an affordable price.

Yea he definitely was a pretty cool officer. He was just doing his job. He wasn’t hunting for anything. I’ve had officers inspect me for an hour plus just to find nothing.

Sometime it can take a while for the condensation to clear. This was in the dead of summer 90+ degree day with humidity, so why would I turn the heat on??? The AC is what caused the condensation given how hot/humid it was outside. In this case I needed to move and needed visibility immediately. Hence the reason I made the short.

My truck is a CDL box truck. What made you ask?

The truck was a level 2. It’s a 2015 and I purchased it in 2021. If you buy a truck from them be sure to inspect EVERYTHING! Allow the truck to run for at least an hour to see if any lights come on. Also don’t purchase a truck from them without getting a warranty! Get the max warranty up front because after so many miles or if the truck is so many years old you won’t be able to extend it. The sad thing is she has always been corrupt, but the corruption is at an ALL TIME high. I do agree with the fact that corruption in the trucking industry is very prevalent. You have brokers counting the pockets of carriers, states and the country creating laws just to generate revenue off the backs of carriers, and soooo much more. It’s truly sad to be honest.

When guys are operating this type of equipment they typically don’t haul heavy freight. In most cases they’re hauling expedited, pharmaceuticals or military freight

Trust, if you continue to pull and lift without bending your legs you will experience back strain at some point. Maybe you haven’t pulled/lifted enough weight to get to the point of strain yet. Once you’ve experienced severe back strain your back will never be the same. Stay safe above all else.
