    Can I honestly say how much I appreciate you speaking up about this? I mean it. Thousands of people in the comments of the trailer who are saying how happy they are about this live action because it's exiting they brough it back, yet to me it will feel nothing like the first time I watched it, the magic and emotion I felt. The music of the trailer is so so so awful, let's be honest: they just kept the main theme for people so that they would say "oh, the nostalgia, this beautiful music!" But it's so not. It sounds fake, as you said, not harmonized at all, just "one finger", I completely agree with you. Many people say they are only exited about this for the comeback of the soundtrack, but to be honest I'm not even exited about that! It will never give me "that feeling" it gave me the first time. So glad an expert made a video about it, truly ❤ Let's just wait and see, but I don't think I'll go watch it when it comes out 😅

    • @FilmScoreandMore
      @FilmScoreandMore Месяц назад

      Thanks for your opinion! You phrased some of this better than I did in the video. The "Where's Hiccup?" piano reprise of the main theme is a version of that theme in its simplest form, and yet it has harmony and both sounds more interesting and has more life than anything in this trailer. The one finger is a tired trailer cliche that fails to excite a lot of people and fulfills the bare minimum of bringing back what people know and like. I know it's not the same people making the trailer as the ones making the movie, but like I said in the video it doesn't do the movie any favors! I feel the same goes for the movie. It's undeniably a How To Train Your Dragon remake, but... so what? Why should I care? Waiting to see is an excellent thing to do, but I agree I'm really not excited about any of this.

    For a composer that isn't fond of making specific character themes "whenever a character walks in", he did it pretty well in Solo in regards to Tobias Beckett. His motif is in every single scene he's in at least once.

    • @FilmScoreandMore
      @FilmScoreandMore Месяц назад

      But how do you know that's Beckett's Theme for sure? It can be hard to figure, but I try to consider alternatives. This is a leitmotif breakdown for Star Wars. Solo is included. It contains a "Secrets" motif that could be what you're referring to. franklehman.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/Star-Wars-Thematic-Catalogue.pdf Edit: I see the confusion now, I was thinking of the wrong character. What you call Beckett's Theme is a theme for his gang. It's the group and the affiliation, not the character. As a side note, I find it pretty similar to the Warring Vikings Theme.

    I think (and I hope) the live action movie will be a darker and mature version of the animated film and something more in line with what Debloise (from my understanding) always wanted to take the animated movies. And I'm actually slightly curious what the directors will do with the movies bc Dean on Instagram stated the movies aren't an entire remake but they are movies that will stand "alongside" the animated trilogy (rough paraphrase) And in terms of the music, I have no idea what Powell is going to do. I believe the studio probably wants the old themes to return and I think powell wants to try something a bit newer. So maybe it'll be a mix of both old D1 themes and new themes? Although I'm not sure how that would sound and work thematically and musically. Side comment: toothless' design looks good a lot better than i expected. Nothing’s changed, I just decided to invest my love into different things. The series ended after the third movie (and some shorts) and anything past that is just milking the franchise. I made my peace since the series ended and I don’t want to look back in case new entries ruin it for me. I’d rather just keep the good memories. My channel is kinda on hiatus right now because of my PhD but I plan to get back into it after I graduate :)

      @@AvantsPianoScores It seems like a franchise that won't let go at this point (which is highly ironic considering the third movie), so you just can't worry about it. Good luck with your PhD! I'm sure that's a huge undertaking. And good luck with your channel work whenever you get around to it.
