Yeah, I had to! It seems a lot of people want to bring it up, it's even directly addressed in the official scorebook - and explained why they're similar!

But Elf was released before the Polar Express, so there's no way they got that from the movie.

@FilmScoreandMore mostly but it's the whole scene that's so emotional. The bagpipes, gobbers speach, them burning the ship. I just can't help it😅

But is it wasted talent if he's choosing the projects he wants? Is being a legendary composer his goal?

@ personally I think so and it’s not like he’s choosing super deep animated movies. He’s freakishly talented but it’s wasted on movies like migration, ice age etc etc. when he was announced for star wars I almost lost my mind and he delivered.

@@Cheeks730 I see what you mean, but I disagree that it's wasted. He's not a vessel just for music, he's a person with preferences. He prefers animation over live action, although it's worth noting he has two projects out this month - one live action and one animated. Wicked and That Christmas.

@ very excited for wicked, he likes movies in general but he does animation cause they don’t have violence in them and crazy action. I’m sure he likes animation but from all the interview I’ve seen he likes them cause there’s no shooting killing etc etc. he’s the most talented composer to come out of RCP but unfortunately he’s wasting his potential but if he loves what he does than hey I’m happy for him

@ He loves animation for sure, but for multiple reasons. One of them is he finds live action is increasingly limiting in the type of music he’s allowed to write, that animation at least allows him “to write melodies.”

Thanks for your opinion! You phrased some of this better than I did in the video. The "Where's Hiccup?" piano reprise of the main theme is a version of that theme in its simplest form, and yet it has harmony and both sounds more interesting and has more life than anything in this trailer. The one finger is a tired trailer cliche that fails to excite a lot of people and fulfills the bare minimum of bringing back what people know and like. I know it's not the same people making the trailer as the ones making the movie, but like I said in the video it doesn't do the movie any favors! I feel the same goes for the movie. It's undeniably a How To Train Your Dragon remake, but... so what? Why should I care? Waiting to see is an excellent thing to do, but I agree I'm really not excited about any of this.

@@zoey_96 Plenty do. The people who feel most strongly about it are most likely to comment, which is why you see more comments from people who either love or hate it. But this video has about 100 more likes than dislikes. A lot of people who see the trailer and feel in the middle just don't comment, so they can be harder to notice.

There's the How To Train Your Dragon 2 game, but that's not on the same level.

But how do you know that's Beckett's Theme for sure? It can be hard to figure, but I try to consider alternatives. This is a leitmotif breakdown for Star Wars. Solo is included. What you call Beckett's Theme is a theme for his gang. It's the group and the affiliation, not the character. As a side note, I find it pretty similar to the Warring Vikings Theme.

He's not the one who makes the trailers, that goes to trailer houses instead. That's why the HTTYD 2 trailer spoiled that Valka is Hiccup's mother.

There's definitely demand for a book adaptation. Personally, I think it might be worth an animated limited series with a 2D look, but that's clearly not what they're doing here.

Exactly. And only once? What’s changed? Hey, it really has been a long time! I’m doing well, been keeping very busy with videos. How are things with you and your channel?

Nothing’s changed, I just decided to invest my love into different things. The series ended after the third movie (and some shorts) and anything past that is just milking the franchise. I made my peace since the series ended and I don’t want to look back in case new entries ruin it for me. I’d rather just keep the good memories. My channel is kinda on hiatus right now because of my PhD but I plan to get back into it after I graduate :)

@@AvantsPianoScores It seems like a franchise that won't let go at this point (which is highly ironic considering the third movie), so you just can't worry about it. Good luck with your PhD! I'm sure that's a huge undertaking. And good luck with your channel work whenever you get around to it.
