You can technically run it like that for a couple of days, you just won’t see as cool of temps. Then once it comes in you can adjust the temp settings.

That’s a loaded question for sure! The model year makes a difference for sure. A VVT motor being installed in a non VVT car is more complicated than using a non-VVT motor and vice versa. 6.4l and 6.2L motors are harder to swap into a non-VVT car (2005-2008 model years) and pre-eagle (03’-08’) 5.7L and all 6.1L motors are harder to swap into a VVT vehicle. It can be done, but you have to do a full interior swap or the tone ring would need to be swapped, PCM tuning would have to be on par, etc.🤞🏼 If it’s a 2005-2008 model year I would recommend a pre-eagle 5.7L or 6.1L motor, if it’s a 2009+ model year I would recommend an Eagle (09+) 5.7L, a 6.4L, or a 6.2L.

Thank you man! And I hope you can grab one up 😄 they’re most definitely underrated! Some ring gap, coated rod bearings, and boost can result is some big power. I’m currently swapping in a performance cam, swapping heads, strengthening up the entire valve train (springs, retainers, pushrods, heavy duty timing chain), and practically replacing or upgrading everything other than the stock rotating assembly. Well I’m also gapping/replacing piston rings and upgrading rod bearings. The 2003-2008 pre-eagle motors are definitely underestimated!

The best bang for your buck and reliability would be forced induction although it doesn’t seem like it. ~8k and you’re set up to run ~500 whp with forced induction. If you choose to cam the car rather than go the forced induction route there’s quite a bit to it and it’s not as cheap as people let on. It’s cheaper than forced induction, but you’ll see more power with boost. I personally think boost would be the best, especially in a reliability aspect. Many of the kits are designed to drive like stock under normal conditions.

That goal is attainable naturally aspirated for sure. Long tubes will net a bit of power, but a head swap and long tubes wouldn’t produce the most power without a camshaft upgrade. With long tubes, heads, and a camshaft swap, you’d make a little north of 400 whp. A head swap is definitely beneficial as the pre-eagle heads leave you at risk of dropping a valve seat. If you can hold off a bit longer and gather the components to swap the camshaft and freshen stuff up at the same time, I would recommend that. At that milage I recommend replacing the timing chain if it wasn’t previously replaced and you may want to consider other things such as a water pump and oil pump. The Eagle head swap is a very good option. You’ll need an intake manifold that flows better than a pre-Eagle intake manifold (Eagle 5.7, 6.4L, or 6.1L intake). You will need pushrods and all to swap heads, so it’s more cost effective to do the cam at the same time. You’ll also need to grab new valve covers with eagle heads as the valve train sits about 1” higher. I’ll be doing a full video on the eagle head swap, 6.1L head swap, and where to start with a pre-Eagle HEMI in my opinion very soon. They’re some of the “up next” videos currently.
