  • In this video we discuss how much power the (NAG1, 65RFE, 8HP70, and TR6060) transmissions offered with 5.7L HEMI equipped vehicles, the drive shaft, the half shafts/axles, the differential, the rotating assembly (crankshaft, pistons, and connecting rods), and the fuel system can handle. As well as discussing how much boost and nitrous these motors can typically handle stock.

    "Make a whole breakfast before hitting the next gear"
    Fuck me if this isnt the truest thing about these NAG1's. Lot of people swear up and down with the blue top solenoids from AMG. They are NOT worth it if you compare the performance differences between just swapping the solenoids vs putting a built valve body in with a shift tune. And they cost about the same price. Right now I have neither, and just a trans tune with the InTune I3. Combine that with constantly resetting the TCM adaptation, and its like driving an entirely different car.
    As always, banger video full of info 🤙

    • @Underdogbuilds
      @Underdogbuilds  6 месяцев назад

      😂 most definitely! They’re quite laggy, but with a nice valve body they can handle quite a bit more power and they shift a whole lot quicker! I’ve heard mixed reviews on the AMG blue top solenoids and I have to agree with you, a valve body and tune will outperform the blue top solenoids any day of the week. I’m going to introduce the valve body after I see what the transmission does stock with firmed up shift points. The car will be making substantially more power and I’m excited to see the before and after of the valve body as well as a converter. And yessirrr! Resetting those adaptations makes these cars feel much better, I’m excited to see how she acts with a Tranzformer from Z Automotive. You can from up the shifts a lot better and I believe there’s a way to “kill” the adaptations so it constantly resets. I’ve gotta get one to play with. And thank you very much man! I appreciate you tuning in, I always appreciate your support! We’ve got some more informational/educational videos dropping pertaining to 6.1 heads on pre eagle blocks, eagle heads on pre eagle blocks, and tuning options for modern hemi powered vehicles. I’ll also be releasing a couple of vlogs here soon, some POVs, a couple of reviews, and some sit down videos chopping it up. Definitely a video speaking upon the current plans for the car and where we are at with gathering parts for the camshaft and head swap!

    Nice vid dude. I have an 08 challenger with a 6.1, NAG1. I put AMG shift solenoids in the transmission, and have upgraded half shafts from the 09+ and a Quaife ATB differential waiting to go in.
    All the best for all of you and your builds.

    5.7 Hemi is Junk, they blow up very easily. Broken cams,flat cam lines.. Absolute junk.

    • @Underdogbuilds
      @Underdogbuilds  5 месяцев назад

      The 5.7L HEMI can handle 8 PSI stock (up to 10 if you’re ballsy or managing detonation), up to a 100 shot stock (or up to 125-150 if you’re ballsy, I’ve seen it done), and their limitations are the pistons, rods, and crank. The rotating assembly is rated for 650 HP @ the crank. You’re speaking upon the camshaft roller failure and it resulting in camshaft lobes being destroyed, possibly ruining the motor if you let it go on for too long. That issue more so pertains to 09+ models with the VVT Eagle motors and is thought to be caused by the lack of lubrication at idle and low RPM operation. Pre-Eagle 5.7L HEMIs had other issues to do with valve seats and valve springs. These issue aren’t as common as everyone lets on, the failure rate is much lower than anyone expects when looking at the amount of motors produced vs. how many motors had any of these issues come about (~5%). It does suck though. 5.7L HEMIs don’t blow up easily IMO. I’ve seen folks push over 900 WHP on the stock rotating assembly with the rings gapped. (It’s documented on Modern Red HEMI’s channel). Sure, they have their quirks/issues, but practically every motor and vehicle on this planet do. One of the most common problems faced by LS engines, especially in older engines, is hydraulic lifter failure.
