2023 End of the Year WIP Parade
Просмотров 3,6 тыс.6 месяцев назад
I recorded this last year, but for some reason I was a bit hesitant to upload it. Here I am uploading this video! These WIPs are the projects that I stitched on for 2023. If you have any questions regarding my cross stitch projects, feel free to ask. Thanks for stopping by and watching!
I think the fabric might be named London Fog.
Correct, I laughed when I found out what it was.
Congratulations on your running accomplishment! Your conversion to a red dress is stunning-you are very talented.
Thank you, I'm very pleased with how it turned out.
Thank you for sharing Yoshi. You sure do have some huge projects happening. I look forward to following you on your journey!
Thank you for joining the ride. A lot of progress and new projects have been added since this video was created. I cannot wait to do a comparison on my projects at the end of this year.
Glad you survived the Hurricane, I was concerned. I enjoy the colour conversion ideas you have and the choice of different fabrics. I am also learning this skill from you, and I need to be brave. Glad your goals are going better. I do enjoy seeing your progress and you have such good stitches. 😊
Thank you! if you ever need help converting please feel free to reach out. I normally try to have an idea on how I would like the entire piece to look beforehand. When picking out floss for the conversion, just focus on one object at a time instead of the entire piece. I find that's normally easier for me.
I love your Lily of the Woods conversion dress. Set manageable goals for you, not what others expect. I find it works for me. Enjoyed your video, and stitched while I watched/listened. To convert the flowers, put various floss colours onto the fabric and make a decision. You could use darker pinks, or yellows or lavenders, just as a suggestion. Cross stitching is not a competition, please enjoy it, which I think you do. I may just be over reacting to what you said. Sorry if that is the case. 😊
Lavender sounds nice! I have not given that colour option a thought yet.
Congratulations on having a new nice!
I'm thinking gold for the cloth. All your WIPs are beautiful.
Thank you, I didn't consider gold as an option, but I'll totally consider it now. I do plan on making her wings gold.
@@TheCrossStitchGuy Okay. So maybe gold isn't good for the cloth. I'll take another look.
Hi Yoshi! Congratulations on your new baby niece! That’s so exciting! What about green or teal for Lily of the Valley? Or yellow? I’m not being much help, am I? LOL But she’s coming out so good! I also love the colors you picked on that Hymn of Christmas piece. I’m going to try to film my flosstube #2 tomorrow. 🙂
I love your color recommendations because that is what I was thinking of. I was thinking maybe royal green or blue. It's gonna be hard to decided 🤔 I'm definitely head on over to your channel!
Hello, from Australia cross stitching isn't that big here in Australia and it is really great to see that there is a good following in America for cross stitching and that a lot of young people are getting into cross stitching.
Thank you for the shout out!! You are getting so close on your Emma Congden piece! That fabric for Deadly Aquarium is beautiful, and I totally understand the sadness with feeling like you have wasted some fabric, but better to have too much than not enough. I have found myself being TOO frugal with fabric at times and then having to scrap a project because I "mathed" wrong. That project will be beautiful, and when it comes time to frame you can leave a large border and really show off that fabric! :)
I did contemplate restarting Deadly Aquarium, but that would be too much work at this point. I'm aiming to get my first finish!🤞
Beautiful progress this month! Really love how that gold frame is turning out on the Aquarium! And Lily is turning out so well. Are you thinking contrasting color or something in line with the rest of the colors? I was thinking either a brighter blue than the pillow or possibly rich shades of brown.
Thanks for your input Liz! I originally was thinking of a tan colour for the cloth, but it kinda feels like I'm playing it too safe. Other colour options I have in mind are like a royal green or blue. Whatever I choose I just want it to feel cohesive with the rest of Lilly.
@@TheCrossStitchGuy I think all three of those could work. Just a matter of finding the right shade.
Congratulations on the new niece! How exciting!!! And I would say you had some good reasons for not stitching, but you still got a decent amount of stitching in! Not sure what color you should convert the cloth to, if you want it to kind of contrast with her dress, maybe like a green? Like emerald green tone. That might contrast enough but still look really good! Makes me think of Christmas though so idk if you want to do that 🤣🤣
Thanks for your input! You basically said what I was thinking for the colour. I had royal green or blue in mind. Lilly might become Lilly of Christmas at this point 😂
I really envy your ability to look at a fabric and know immediately what would work great with it. I'm hopeless at that! Good Companion is looking so good!
I struggle in picking fabrics 😭I'm happy that it appears easy. I just have a few projects that live in my mind for months that I would like to start on. Pairing it with a fabric is the hardest part.
Beautiful projects! Spending time with family is a good reason not to stitch. You are making memories with them
So many memories indeed.I'm amazed at how quick they grow up 🥲
Thank you for another great video. I'm glad you didn't lose power it was a bad storm. I'm pulling out Nightingale next week to work on
Nightingale is a fun one. Her dress colours are so beautiful.
Hi Yoshi! You had another great month with a lot of progress! Good Companion is looking so good and was great to see the update. The pillow on Lilly looks amazing and I can't believe you almost got it completely done! Love the colors on LolaCrow (bummer about the fabric) and Christmas Hymns. The Summer piece is looking great on the yellow fabric and is perfect for the SAL! Great stitching as always :)
I am in love with the yellow fabric, which is amazing because yellow is not one of my favourite colours. Smooth Sea will be joining the SAL instead of Lord of the Rings 🤣
Love your aquarium conversion and congrats on the race finish 🎉
Thank you! 😀
I decided to check out your channel when Andrew at The Runner Stitcher mentioned you and now I am following you too. :)
I appreciate the follow. Always happy to welcome in people from Andrew's channel.
Greetings from British Columbia, Canada. I live near Vancouver. I’m getting back to working on cross stitch projects after 10 years of almost exclusively quilting.
Do you have any old WIPs that you'll be getting back to after all these years or will you coming with a fresh slate?
@@TheCrossStitchGuy yes I will be working on old projects and a few new ones. Winter Queen ( Mirabilia ) is from 2002 ( I am pretty sure.... ) I do have a cross stitch playlist on my channel.
I'm always impressed by your color conversion of Lily of the Woods! It looks amazing!
Thanks for commenting because this was how I found your channel. Loved your WIP parade! I'm happy that you are liking the Lily conversion. Still figuring her out as I go.
a 2M stitch project! woah! so impressed :). Great progress on your wips
Now if I can one day ever finish that would be impressive.
Nice job on Deadly Aquarium SAL. I love the fabric and the gold conversion.
Thank you, I am in love with the fabric. It's such beautiful colour.
Congratulations on your race! Very impressive considering how hot and humid the Houston area is. Have fun in England!
Thank you!
Dont change your way of posting the preview. Its your channel, your way ;)
Youll laugh when you go back and read that 2nd fabric name... conaidering youre going to the UK Its London fog ;) I loooove the blue fabric you showed And great work on that run. Thats awesome
Was I that bad at reading the tags lol? I really thought the L was a T, which threw me completely off.
Aww what a kind offer to bring stitchy stash over to UK. Sadly I'm around 400 miles from London, in the North East of England so can't benefit from your kindness but honestly that's one of the nicest offers, so kind of you. I'd go see the tower of London deffo and try some real ale in a traditional pub. Fish and chips is a must, as is a visit to one of the markets such as Brick Lane market. The V&A museum is also really good. Hope you have the best time and enjoy the show. Well done on the race 🏅
Thanks for the recommendations! I'm a sucker for fish and chips. I did manage to get some last time and will definitely try et some again.
Your making good headway on your projects. Keep up the work.
Love seeing your progress! I like that 1000 stitches on every piece goal!
I think that blue fabric will be great. There’s a pattern called Moroccan lantern 🏮 they look like they are glowing. Might want to see how they did that. Then I would just highlight the dark blue with I thin line of white. That would make it pop. Great video.
Thanks for the tip and the suggestion! I will definitely take this into consideration.
I have 2 GeckoRouge kits. One has 99 colors and the other has 60 colors. I also work from a master set. Here is what I did. It was a lot of work, but in the end, so worth it. My master set is on bobbins so I bobbinated all of my kit flosses. As I was putting it on bobbins, I identified each color. There is a dmc color chart that has samples of all the flosses. It made it really easy to match up each color. I put both the GR number and the DMC number on the bobbin. Just FYI all of the flosses the GR gives you is in numeric order on the dmc chart. I know that sounds like too much work, but I'm really glad that I did it. I wound up changing fabric size on one of my pieces and now I don't have to worry about getting more floss when I run out. I hope this helps.
Thank you so much for this. I was able to identify a handful of colours, but now that I know this I'll need to go back and try again.
You’re from Texas!?!?! Love this I don’t know why I haven’t clicked back on you before! I’m watching alllllll these today
I love how you started stitching and just went straight to full coverages when that’s something to me as a long term stitcher that’s just so intimidating
@@Peggys_still_stitching I jumped right into a big piece too with blended threads. Not sure what I was thinking, but I felt like I watched enough floss tube at that time to attempt one.
Schatje, ik bewonder een creatief vrouwtje in de slaapkamer van tijd tot tijd, alleen over me heen schijten was toch iets te... extravagant.
Another great update! Such good progress on June!!! Omg I love all those boardwalk patterns you got! Can't wait to see them stitched! Can't wait to start Donner with you!
The boardwalk patterns are adorable. Individually they aren't that big. Can't wait to start Donner, Merry Christmas!
I love it when the stitchy bug is strong! Congrats on your run and working on all of your WIPs this year! I love how you're working on the Indian Peacock by color. Also LOL on saying you never follow through on goals. I totally don't either, but for me too many goals turns my favorite hobby into a chore. Thanks for the shoutout! Oh, and that fabric is London Fog.
The stitchy bug was so strong for June! I never follow through on my goals, which is why I liked your WIPGO board. It wasn't too specific. Correct, the fabric is London Fog. I just couldn't read lol
Congrats on your race! It would have taken me hours to do five miles and hell yes I would have walked almost all of it 🤣🤣🤣 I really like the colors on your Disney hero’s piece, they are so bright! Also still loving your Mira conversion! Congrats on getting more than a single more stitch on the gecko map piece, I’m surprised you even showed a before pic 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I’ve got a start on Nightingale! I don’t remember the exact color of her fabric but it’s also a dark blue, because I also thought of her walking the halls at night! Also I think that one piece you got is called London Fog 😃 it was kind of hard to read it on my phone but I know a lot of dyers do a grey and brown combo and call it London fog Also I love the Harry Potter conversion idea for the snowmen! Tbh I thought the pirate one you would have done like Mad Eye Mooney because of the eyepatch 😂 and go ravenclaw! I consider myself half ravenclaw half slytherin 😂 ok I think….i think that’s it….ok byyyyyyyyeeeeee 😂
Jenn, love the long comment! I've ran five miles many times, but on race day my body (including my thoughts) was acting like it never ran a day in it's life. The Disney Hero piece is such a fun stitch with the colors they use. I had to show the embarrassing start. The single stitch will also make an appearance for the end of the year WIP parade so keep a lookout for him 🤣 I actually saw your Nightingale aka your first Mira. How are you enjoying the fancy ladies? Yes, you are correct it is called London Fog. The tags were so hard to read. I believe I only got one of the four tags correct 😂I'll never attempt that again. I haven't quite figured out all of the characters yet. The Farmer might even be Luna's father or Newt Scamander. Mrs Weasley is the only definite one as of now. I plan to start her first whenever the border is finished and a fabric is decided upon. Ravenclaws unite! Now go finish your hedgehog. We want to see a finish or two for your upcoming video 😂 bye!
@@TheCrossStitchGuy little teaser for you, I have multiple finishes to show in the next one!! 🤪🤪
@@jennthecaffeinatedcrafter5679 can't wait to see the finishes!!!
Congratulations on your race!🎉 love what you're stitching. I have a tiny start on Nightingale. Im going to use glow in the dark floss for the lamp.
Yay, another Nightingale stitcher! I was thinking about using some light yellow and orange floss to produce the glow effect. I still have to work all that out. Problems for future me to solve whenever I get there 😅
Congrats on your race, Yoshi! OMG, I love the HP conversion of the snowmen patterns!!! I love how you commented on your growth since starting flosstube! I don't think a mid-year wip parade is really necessary - I prefer seeing 1 yr progress too.
Thank you! ☺ I have drastically changed as a stitcher and I cannot wait to see how I continue to evolve. I have some big plans for the Snowman series I just need to spend some time to figure out how I want to execute that idea. I do love watching WIP parades though.
Congrats on the run! 💜your stitching.
Thank you! Happy stitching to you.
I've started referring to plans as nebulous intentions.
Once I make a plan I do everything else expect what the plan says to do. It's a trend here 😂
As another Swiftie cross stitcher I would happily listen to you go on and on about TS! Jealous of your TTPD crew neck, it looks great ... and how good is that album! ;))) And your Garden Prelude design changes are amazing ideas... extending the flowers and removing the arches will be so beautiful!
Please do not get me started on Taylor Swift 🤣I can go on and on about her. TTPD is so good lyrically. I love the way that Taylor plays and uses her words.
The jellyfish fabric is beautiful. It would be great for the Deadly Aquariam SAL. The contrast between the beautiful water and the deadly things hiding within is wonderul. Lily's red dress is gorgeous!
Facebook recommended this video for me and I am 10 min in and already subscribed. It is very rare I like someone immediately, but with you I did. I love your method os stitching that is almost exactly like me, I start at the top left and work my way towards the top right and then downwards. And never do a stitch unless the stitches above are done. I use that method on both FC and non Fc projects. I also love that you don’t want to see the cover photo more than once and instead see the project come to life ❤❤❤ Your world of Disney IV if that is from Zanna, I can sayher charts have amazing details I am doing 5 Disney Princesses by her and the details are superb, so ai think if you just get 20-30 rows down so you start getting details you will love that project 😊 looking forward to follow your stitchy journey.
Nice to know that FB recommended me. I use my method because it keeps the back looking nice and there are no grid lines showing. I do find it to be a slow method, but I am in no hurry. I don't necessarily use the same method on my non full coverage pieces. It will vary based off of the piece I'm working on. World of Disney IV is from Zanna. I know that once I can make it out of the frame portion that it will start to come together. I have seen some pictures from other stitchers. What are the 5 Disney princesses that you are doing? Is it an individual piece with a princess on it or one piece with 5 princesses?
@TheCrossStitchGuy I have very much the same reason for using a similar method to yours. 5 Disney Princesses is also from zanna and it is 1 massive projects that has 5 of the Disney Princesses (Cinderella, Bell, Rapunzel, Snow white and Ariel) I am on Instagram as Rita Marie's stitching adventure. It might be a lot easier to see the Cover photo there than me explaining 😅
Hi yoshi nice to meet you. Love your stitching and your Taylor swift shirts. The glasses look great too !
23:23 ….maybe summer by the cricket collection? I think that’s the same fabric. That’s going to look really good!
I actually saw one of your videos and you mentioned a fabric called Mystic, which is what I settled on. Little did you know, but you helped me.
@@TheCrossStitchGuy oh that’s great!! I’m excited to see how this project turns out!
9:32 we would probably get alcohol poisoning if we played that game 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Also, 123stitch is a great place to start with getting Aida, if you don’t see the size you are looking for, you can email them and see if they can custom cut a piece for you! 16:01 “I think I might start doing some smaller projects to take them on trips” …..and so it begins…..before you know it you will have over 300 wips 🤣🤣
Howww am I just now discovering your channel?? 😂 I was going to mention check out my wip parade when you said how much you love them, then you mentioned mine! Yay! Then you started listing off all the people I was going to mention you should check out 😂 if you haven’t watched stitching mommy, she does a lot of golden kite pieces! And also felt very called out about the 300 projects 🤣🤣🤣 I like the way you are stitching your pieces, kind of like….almost like an isosceles triangle 😆 it’s really neat! At first I was thrown off by the not showing the cover photo, but I’m kind of digging it, it will be interesting to see how the pieces develop! Welcome to the flosstube community!
Did I see your 5 part video about your 2024 plans? Yes, yes I did! Did I discreetly call you? You betcha! Am I jealous that you have that many WIPs? 100% I stitch all my full coverages like that from top left (if looking at the piece) to right and I work my way down. I love your videos and enjoy tuning in weekly to see what you have completed.
@@TheCrossStitchGuy 🤣🤣🤣 well in my defense I started ZERO new ones last year, so I’m making up for it now 🤪 also, I’m watching you slowly creep up your wip count, you’re gonna be right there with em before you know it 😂
@@jennthecaffeinatedcrafter5679 I don't know how you managed to go a whole year with no new starts. Seems like torture to me 🤣My WIP count is increasing!
LOVE that fabric!
Beautiful fabric choice for the Aquarium!
Thank you, that one just called out to me and felt right. I love when that happens!
Welcome to Flosstube. My first flosstuber was Stitchin' Jules as well 😂 Boy, this opened up a never ending rabbit hole. I like the idea of not looking at the picture once you start stitching. It's like a mystery stitch 😂 Happy stitching ❤
Jules is awesome to watch. She had so many projects and I remember always tuning in to see the updates. That's kind of what inspired me to start stitching. I love being surprised when stitching. I discovered that it really only works for full coverages.
Stitching mommy rolls her projects up and puts them in cylinders. I roll mine up and use magnets and put in my project bags I bought from Amazon. Love your videos and projects. Also, the project that doesn’t necessarily fit in q-snap some sew extra fabric on the cross stitch fabric and it seems to help.
Thanks for the advice. I believe I'll eventually start to transition into the rolling method. I don't like folding the fabric where stitches exist. It low key hurts my heart.
