2024 Trail Cam Videos Vol 2 (June)
This video shows the animals around a creek that runs through my property. The clips are from June 2024 activity. Highlights of this video are near the end where a mother raccoon defends her four babies from a coyote with bad intentions. Also near the end, there is a fawn with blue eyes, which I'd never seen or heard of before.

This video contains more wildlife clips around a creek and beaver pond on my property near Lincoln Nebraska. I started making these videos in December 2019 after a family of beavers moved in probably around June 2019 when they chewed down trees and constructed a dam. The subsequent ecosystem that developed as the water from the small creek filled the area became home to fish and turtles and att...

Most of the footage comes from cameras near a tree the beavers were chewing on until late June 2020 and these videos run from late August through December. very good video
Great videos. Loved the angry mother raccoon and the blue eyed fawn.
Interesting captures! That was a big beaver!
Yes, it is a big one. One of the beavers is blind in one eye. That is, in some of the night video clips you can see that his right eye doesn’t glow in the infrared light, so I assume it got poked out or something. That same beaver was already big four years ago when he showed up in my 2020 videos. It’s probably 50 or 60 pounds. Thanks for the comment.
@@larrypeterson3375 Wow! I just got a clip of a buck that seems to have something covering one of its eyes or something because it doesn't glow either.
Hello. Been waiting to see your wonderful videos again. Love all the fawns, so beautiful with their mamas. Thanks so much for identifying birds and their songs. ❤ You've brightened my day🎉🎉
Thank you for the kind comment. I did remember you asking for bird identification and calls when possible. There were some I couldn’t identify and not all the birds were “talking”, but I tried. Thanks again!
Sure is an active little beaver dam! Love the bird songs!
Thanks for posting these! I love watching stuff so close to home!!
I’m glad you like them. I know they’re probably too long for most peoples’ tastes, but I just like seeing the animals living their lives and the sometimes unexpected things they do.
Nice Moments with your Wildcam ! Gratulation from Germany Niko
Love your narrated facts and info. We set up some cameras here in NW Montana a year ago. It’s been fun.
I really enjoy getting to see the variety of animals you would rarely see when you just go for a walk. The cameras catch their actions day or night and once in a while you get something totally unexpected. Thanks for your nice comments. :)
@@larrypeterson3375 Agreed. I’ve uploaded just one video of what our cameras caught.
Such great videos! Thanks for slowing some of them down.
A lot of times the bird or animal moves so fast you don't get a chance to get a good look at them or what they were doing, so I like to slow it down sometimes.
Love how you narrate what's going on. Wish others would too.
Love watching these. Would love it more if someone put a camera on a coyote den to see how many fawns she brings to her pups before they leave. YOU WOULD BE SHOCKED!!
I found one spot that may have been a den for something a year or so ago and set up a camera there for awhile, but nothing showed up. Maybe it was the wrong time of the year. Thanks for the comment.
The coyote (1:10) maybe has brain damage.
That coyote hasn't showed up on camera again so far this year as it did the last couple years. Whatever is wrong with it, I'm amazed it's able to catch anything to eat and keep surviving. Thanks for commenting.
Great video
Great video! Lots of wildlife! Hope to see more
Interesante ubicación 👍🏽.
25:25 that's actually daddy blackbird!
I didn’t know that. That’s what I get for making an assumption. 😄. Thanks!
@@larrypeterson3375 all good!
Y’all’s trail cameras captured a lot of fantastic footage. Enjoyed watching thanks 👍
Time stamp 6:55 Indigo Bunting. On the left....Beautiful shots of the cardinals. Nice to see what lurks in the shadows at night.
Thanks for the bird I.D. We don’t have a lot of blue colored birds around here, so with my limited knowledge, I figured it was just a bluebird. I also enjoy seeing the creatures that normally go unseen in the dark.
Your editing is very good also, the way you narrate the actions of the animal s
The body of water is very popular, very good place for cameras.
I like the inscribed narration of the animals that are shown in your videos, very good, some may not know what they are.
Love love love!!! Great films!!! Nature gave you quite a kiss big time!
You never know what you’re going to get when you go check the cameras. It’s nice to get a glimpse of these animals just using whatever tools nature gave them to survive. Thanks for your comment.
Very cool! Was that a mink?? That mama deer had quite a long snout! Lol And you have some nice bucks coming through! Be cool to find their sheds!
Thanks for the notes, found them to be interesting
Another great video! I definitely need to up my game. I'm focused mainly on deer for my own knowledge, but will be switching to catch all kinds of critters.
Awesome video! I love seeing the heron up close like that!!
Thanks! Herons really look like they’re descended from dinosaurs, like they said about birds in the Jurassic Park movies.
Yes! And I feel that about the Sandhill Cranes too! They’re so cool!
Excellent, again. How long are your videos set to run? I'm going to have to move some cameras, mine have only been set for deer.
I have two cameras I set to one minute video. I go through more batteries doing that, but sometimes the animals will do something unexpected or interesting after they initially trigger camera. I have one old camera that only does 15 seconds and no sound recording. I also use a weed eater to shorten the grass and weeds around the camera viewing area. That way the wind blowing tall grass doesn’t trigger the camera so often and I think the animals like a space where they can see around better. Setting up around water has also helped.
Great video, lots of action in this episode. Enjoyed watching 👍
Awesome video! Great sequence with the Hawk and Heron. I'm hoping to make videos as good as this someday. It's -15 with -40 wind chills right now in Illinois, I'm going to watch more of your videos today since the roads are drifted shut through most of our area, and I'll have to wait to pull my camera cards.
I haven’t left my house for a couple days because of the cold, the snow and wind! It was -20 when I got up this morning, but has now “heated up” to -7. Ha. Anyway, thanks for the nice comment.
Heron vs. hawk vs. blackbird..is that a cooper's hawk?
No, it’s a Red-tailed hawk which is a bit larger than a Cooper’s hawk and is distinguished by it’s reddish-brown tail feathers.
Thanks for a calm answer. Both have those feathery pants on, don't they?@@larrypeterson3375
That was a wonderful video!! Thanks for all of your work.
I’m glad you liked the video. Thank you.
What a perfect spot for a camera! Great watch! You got a new sub!
Thanks for the sub! It really has been an active spot, probably because it makes for any easy crossing from one side of the small creek to the other and it’s a good watering hole.
Interesting problem with the coyote! Lots of neat vids!
Thanks 👍
Beautiful pics! That pond sure gets pretty deep! 😊😊
Yes it does get deep after a big rain and then shrinks back down and gets shallow after a few weeks of no rain. Thanks for commenting!
Great variety of animals. Great video! I think the turtle needs a name.
Since it’s such a regular visitor, I agree on giving it a name. It stopped showing up once it got colder and is probably hibernating or frozen until spring. Whatever it is that snapping turtles do in winter. 😉 So, if it shows up again when it warms up, I now have time to come up with an appropriate name. Thanks
Thanks for sharing Larry! I live in Lincoln and love to see all the wildlife.
I find it amazing that so much animal activity is taking place and you wouldn’t suspect it’s going on all the time, but out of our view. Thanks for your comment!
So glad to see the second fawn, I thought we saw it get lost earlier
What, no "strange creature" lurking in the background...how boring...🤣🤣🤣🤣 Just kidding, nice video
Sorry, no guys in Sasquatch suits or photoshopped aliens. Just everyday critters walking around. Thanks, I enjoyed your comment.
Wowsa!❤

Thought those were bullfrog sounding off in background of some shots? That would be nice for the herons!
Yes those were bullfrogs singing their one low note song. The herons have definitely taken their share of them, but I still see and hear some around.
@@larrypeterson3375 That sound that vividly brings memories of going to the creek at night with my Grandpa to hear., watch on occasionally, gig some . Thanks for the reminiscing 😔
Hi Larry😊. Glad to see this compilation of older videos. Hope you've had some rain a. nd are doing well. Your videos bring such joy and peace. God Bless you 😇
You've outdone yourself,, Larry! The entire video is beautifully done, location clarity of pictures. Your narration adds so much. Please do even more, identify bird calls. That sequence amongst heron, hawk and black bird is stellar. Reviewing your collected new footage must be like Christmas morning. Will anxiously await next video. ❤😚
Thank you for the kind words. As for the bird calls, I sometimes add some text to say what bird it was, but I probably shouldn’t assume most viewers know what bird made the call, like a crow, quail, wren, robin, blackbird, etc. I’ll try to remember to add that info in the future, if I can identify the bird and not be redundant. Between my three cameras I usually start with six or seven hours of video and try to whittle it down to around thirty minutes, which is probably too long for most RUclips user attention spans. However, I am still fascinated with all the animals that are around us that for the most part go unseen and getting a glimpse of their daily activities, interactions and what they do to survive. Thanks again! -Larry
@@larrypeterson3375 Maybe you could do another longer video ? Do to health issues, I can't go to my beloved Colorado mountains anymore. Thank you so much for taking me into these amazing experiences. I'm probably asking for too much about bird calls. I'm a nut about them! Always remember the joy and awe you bring. One last ask, how common are blue herons to the Midwest? You really should submit that footage to other wildlife outlets. Are you on patreon? If so, could you send me the link? 🤗💕
I will put out another video hopefully before year end. The current problem I’m having is that it has been so dry that the spring that feeds the creek on my land is down to just a trickle. So, about the only water left is what is held back by the four small beaver dams that run along the creek and the water in front one of those has completely dried up. I’m not seeing as many animals lately. A good storm would fill things back up, but we haven’t had a decent rain storm since July. Regardless of that, I still have my cameras out and the animals will find a way to cope. There are blue herons all over Nebraska, but they are very skittish and usually fly before you can even close to them. Fortunately they’re not afraid of the camera. I find them fascinating and somewhat prehistoric looking, but they are so good at fishing and catching frogs. In fact, I noticed in my videos that they will pick up a weed stalk and I assume dangle it in the water to attract fish and then spear the fish that gets close to it. I noticed that one of the fish the heron had speared had a weed stalk hanging out of its mouth. Using a tool like that is pretty smart in my opinion. I’m just an amateur at RUclips and don’t create enough videos to get into doing Patreon. I do love animals and nature, so that’s my reward in making these videos and sharing them on RUclips. I appreciate your comments.
@@larrypeterson3375 Thanks for the correspondence. Amazing facts about herons. I agree that they have learned to go "fishing". We underestimate what animals are capable of achieving. Crows , as you undoubtedly know, have intelligence of a child. . I lived in Kansas some years ago. Never saw a heron, but would love to. Have you watched it the huge crane migration and anytime ? Oh, I got a giggle at the deers camera obsession 🤭. You could put the designation at bottom of your videos for donations. You deserve it. Been so great conversing. I pray you get rainn soon🙏☔
Did that turkey just flash you lol !!
Yes, I believe that disrespectful turkey did just that! 😄
Entertaining, educational, enjoyed.
❤❤
I’m glad you enjoyed the video. Thanks!
What kind of raccoon is them?
From what I looked up these are Northern raccoons. Of the three main types these are the largest and most common type in North America.
great trail cam video ...cheers
Does this camera actually show light at night ?
These trail cameras use red LEDs that project infrared light that allows the camera to record pictures/videos at night that appear in black and white within the area the LEDs can light up. At sunrise and sunset the camera may switch to infrared mode even though there is some light from the sun. Those videos appear in a full screen of black and white until there is enough sunlight to shut off infrared mode and record in color. I hope this helps answer your question. Thanks for commenting.
great video ...cheers
Thank you! Cheers!
