Having items that mitigate weaknesses can be a good thing, because it turns those permanent weaknesses into temporary ones. Imagine if qiyana had to stay in lane all game because the enemy was perma pushing - not fun. But with hydra, she can waveclear fast enough to have a presence on the map, and start becoming a real character. Instead of saying “it’s broken, she’s SUPPOSED to have bad waveclear”, instead say, “she has bad waveclear until she gets the item”. Another thing to consider is that it changes how a character itemizes. If Qiyana didn’t have bad waveclear, she could launch right into Hubris and she would take over the game. Instead, she has to build hydra first in order to fix her issues before becoming a weapon of mass destruction. Some characters need to live with their weaknesses for a while, like Taliyah, who needs to buy offensive items in order to keep scaling nicely and do her job. Eventually, she CAN buy Banshee’s Veil or Zhonya’s Hourglass, which lets her have a more well-rounded mid-late game, but she still needed to live with that weakness for a while. Items that mitigate weaknesses are, in essence, timers on a character’s weakness.

It's an item that requires T2 boots and 15lvl. Of course it has low pickrate - no one in their right mind would buy it before finishing all other slots. And it's rare nowadays for a game to be that long

*I disagree. **_Infinity Edge is by essence a broken item, and shouldn't be in the game :_* => it is a problem both for marksmen and for the ones fighting marksmen, because it makes the late game dps curve too steep, compared to an early /mid game that thus has to feel unsatisfyingly weak. (vs ninja tabis) . -> The DPS of an ADC depends on too many stat multipliers : AD , AS , Crit chance , Crit Dmg , Armor pen Compare this to a tank, who only has HP and Armor. That's why they had to add Tabis' %AutoAtk reduction, AND Randuin's %Crit reduction. But then the problem is that Tabis can be built too early, and are too cost efficient, so as soon as they get it you feel like you've fallen 2000 gold behind. You can also compare this to a mage, who only have AP , Haste, Magic pen , and %AP boost from Rabadon. That's 1 less. And by te way, the %AP boost from Rabadon is still problematic for the game, becasue it forces every mage to build it 3rd, or else they can't keep up with curve. And by the time you get to 4th item the game is most probably over. This kills build diversity. You actually didn't adress correctly the fact that IE gets you 40% crit dmg for 150 gold. -> 1) yeah it's "conditional", but that only means that you're not getting full value of it as a 1st purchase. That still doesn't make it balanced overall. Arguably at 6 items it's the most broken thing. And even if you're not building full squishy dps, you could easily slide in a Randuin, or a Rookern, or a Jak'sho in your adc build as a 5th or 6th item and you'll be unable to one shot and still dish out unreasonable amounts of damage. -> 2) the only thing that keeps that late game away from the radars, is that it almost never happens. Games (above bronze) tend to be over at around 30mins. Either because of Baron, or simply FF, unfortunately... -> 3) Ninja Tabis are the thing that keep the mid-game part of the curve feel tolerable, simply by knocking down the effectiveness of all those multipliers, because it essentially acts as 1 negative multiplier. But honestly it doesn't feel right. => if you removed Infinity Edge from the game, you could have the crits reverted to dealing 200% Attack Damage in the early game, instead of now 175% early and 215% late game. (and make Tabis weaker and more expensive)

Everything you said is correct, another thing to add with specifically gragas is that he double dips with mana since it lets him spam his passive for healing in lane, without a mana item its nearly impossible to play any extended lane.

There is also a very small trend for Sona to buy it as well.

Im suprised blitz isnt on this list. Because in Wild Rift where they first introduced this item earlier than in league its still a meta to build fimbulewinter for blitz as a 1st or 2nd item

i mean, they are all very tanky already, they just drain such an exceptional amount of mana, especially taric, so they can sacrifice resistance stats for some health with a lot of mana

Items should improve the strong characteristics of the champions, not fix their issues! Imagine ADCs doing the same dmg they do but with ranks items, assassins being fast asf while building tank and tanks being tanky with ADC items

I wish item countered parts of kits. I main leona but id take qss giving you a mini olaf ult. Mainly because i can treat it like a morgana shield. plus if they gave it a tank variant there isa chancei can use it aswell even if it gives worse stats. Things like mundo and aatrox when fed feel unstoppalbe same with tom kench where i wish anti heal and shield were real

Ok ehm, well, i agree with you if we think of gold efficiency in a straight way. I don't know if i'm the only one seeing it differently, but, obviously, when i deal with that, i do calculate the efficiency according to the stats, but then there's another mandatory step which is : comparing the different passives and how it could work in this meta with my champ. I didn't expect people to only think about flat stats, it doesn't make sense with all these specific facts in each item

Taric needs 60 AH to stun every 4 autos. With Navori he only needs 30 AH.
