@SoulHavenPottery-gt2gf Alumina hydrate is different. I know it's used for that but I haven't tried it. I use coarse silica sand under my lanterns and platters and I've had good results. It also helps with glaze drips on your shelf apparently. Your piece may have warped for another reason other than sticking to the shelf but I just thought I would share my method in case it helps :)

@@judithmoore6564 hi, possibly. You can search some of the glaze forums on FB as i think people have experimented. I’ve only experimented with the glaze that goes over the whole thing last but didn’t really like the results as much as the “crystal” glazes like Sandstone and Cenote by Mayco

@@judithmoore6564 but you can experiment with some glazes that are not super stable! Not Celadons-I don’t think they would run well. You might come up with a fantastic result 💕

Hi, with a stencil 😊

It’s a trivet so it’s totally flat. A plate might be more tricky, you could do it while the clay is still a flat slab and then gently drape it over a plate mold to shape it but don’t press too hard or you get rid of the impression/design

Aww, thank you Kathy! I'm glazing some things now. It's been so hot here that it took me a long time to get enough pottery made for a bisque kiln. But soon I'll have another kiln unload :)

@@soverignbeing8 and Oatmeal I usually put x2 just at the top because it can run a lot. You can put a thinned (with water or gum solution) coat half way down and the second coat on top half way down from the top of the first coat. Sometimes it’s tricky depending on firing temp and all but try one thick coat at top (under the text “top”) about a one inch band or like I described in 2 staggered coats

Thanks Amanda! Yes just hold the stencil in place and brush a thick slip then carefully peel away the stencil. I cut the flowers out of a bigger stencil to make it easier. The jewelry slab I just roll out very thin..maybe 2-3mm? They are super lightweight. I use a rolling pin after the slab roll to get desired thinnesses.

The light flux is the beige or tan colored one and the other colors are Mayco Stroke & Coat glazes. I think I listed all the colors i used at the beginning of the video, but I’ll check but you can use any colors of your own choice! That’s the beauty of Stroke & Coat glazes 😊 the last glaze is Sandstone by Mayco and a little Amaryllis (the pink) at the end

I’m pretty sure the colors are Rosey Posey, TuTu Tango, Grapel, Jaded and Blue Isle

What could go wrong did lol..From me inadvertently turning off the computer on the kiln. Restarting. Didn't get to tep..lol.. Everything in the kiln was an experiment, with different clay and glazes? So i'm not upset, I just feel stupid..lol
