The Shadow is one of my Top Ten Favorite Characters now. He DEFINITELY deserves a return to the big screen... or at least a new TV series!

I usually hate music in audiobooks. The way it's used here though is nothing short of electrifying.

The idea that to have extensive experience of evil you must have committed evil is such an obnoxious trope. The Shadow has plenty of experience from fighting evil all around the world. The other thing that gets missed a lot is that the Shadow, while utterly ruthless to criminals (forcing a poisoner to knowingly drink his own poison comes to mind), is extremely compassionate to the innocent. I always enjoy his interactions with characters like Betty in 'Hands in the Dark'. On the same note, one of my favorite scenes has the Shadow, already wounded from a previous battle with crooks, nearly get himself caught by trying desperately to revive a gas victim while the police are battering down the door. Scenes of the Shadow gunning down hordes of gangsters not withstanding, when it comes down to it, the Shadow is more concerned with saving innocent lives than striking down the guilty. (Of course, being The Shadow, he usually manages both.) He frequently abandons his plans to go rescue his agents (he's even surrendered himself in exchange for their safety). On several occasions he has even offered to let villains go free in exchange for the safety of their victims. (Not that they ever take him up on that offer.) Turning the Shadow into either a psychotic 'Punisher' type character or a dark, tormented soul is a huge mistake.

Holy Shit I got the first couple issues of these, love them!

Without this character I don’t have Batman one of western comics most successful and recognizable characters.

Razor, your love of this movie warms my heart! I have loved it since seeing it in a UK cinema aged 8 in 1994. Every time I revisit the movie, it more or less holds up for me, the obvious flaws being the ones you described. They matter not. This movie rocks. I also have something in common with you in that I copied the costume for a Halloween. It's a great, easily-assembled costume.

I'm imaging Homer Simpson wearing a slouch hat and black cloak... Villain: You see Shadow even though I have told you my plans, I do not believe you shall be able to stop them. Homer: Go on. Villain: For I had planned for a fourth bomb to explode tonight, ten minutes after I had left this room, which I meant to do nine minutes ago. Homer: Go on. Villain: It would have shown that I had been an intended victim, but now I believe I shall stay, along with another, and be killed by the blast. Homer: Go on. Villain: And that bomb, is set on a timer to explode in 30 seconds. Homer: Go on. Villain: And when it explodes, despite my confession, your chances of stopping my dastardly plan will explode with them. Homer: Go on. Villain: Because the bomb I'm describing to you is literally in this room right now and about to go off in five seconds. Homer: Go on.

Wait was this "The Shadow" released in 1994 the same year "The Crow" the movie of the late Brandon Lee. I expect that this movie will be rebooted or remake by film makers just what they did to "The Crow". We shall wait and see.....I guess

Viewers beware! Once you finish listening, it will ruin audiobooks for you because all other audiobook narrators will seem boring in comparison

I saw the the shadow movie in theater. My dad took me as a little kid. It was the 90s no one batted an eye at a six year old girl in full shadow costume skipping in.

This is like round 20 listening to this and it never gets old .

First of all, these readings are amazing. I especially like how you nail Lamont's refined Transatlantic accent! Secondly, a question: It is my understanding that the Shadow isn't too far from entering the public domain? Considering not only your championing of this character but your own recent history with publishing your comic book, when the Shadow becomes public domain, could you see yourself creating your own Shadow stories and publishing them?

Could you add commentary on the case that inspired this story? Joking, good to have the Shadow stuff in it's own channel.

I thought he already did this one? Not complaining, absolutely amazing. Razor does a great job narrating, and doing the voice of The Shadow.
