A VERY Stressful Sunday in Khon Kaen, Thailand Trying to SAVE a Cute Kitten!
Welcome to the latest video for my channel @KhonKaenDen. In this short video, I take a cute stray kitten we feed, called Chester, to the local vets as he had stopped eating and looked to be in a desperate condition.I know that, if a stray cat stops eating, it could well be a serious problem (both our house cats suffered from Parvo virus, which kills about 95% of kittens). It turned out to be a rather stressful Sunday indeed. Let me know in the comments section if you think I have done the right thing or not. Enjoy!

Your action speaks volumes about you, Den and Beau. I would have done it myself, if I could afford it. There is not much worse than seeing our pets (even strays) suffer. We feel it in our bones, don`t we. They quickly become part of the family, those little cuties. I am so glad you did this, thank you! Now it is up to higher power to do the rest. I`ll save a prayer for Chester 🙏🙏

Sarlina!!!! Thank you so much for your kind words as always! Yeah, I cannot stand seeing a living thing in pain - even a pigeon! We feed all the stray cats that live on our street (there are many). But this little guy kind of adopted US. He just slept on the bench outside the front window, so Beau made him and his mum a little bed and they have slept there all winter (especially the very cold nights). Not sure if we can adopt him yet (many strays are riddled with disease and so he is having a number of tests to make sure he is suitable as we have two house cats - both were strays of course 555). So fingers crossed that he will be OK and I will update you with a video very soon! BREAKING!!!! Message from the vet (doctor in Thai as you know 555) to Beau RIGHT NOW... he IS eating again! So positive news all round! Will update with a video tomorrow or the days after (depending on what I find out). Take care Sarlina and fingers crossed for little Chester! Den

Would have done the same thing....and have done it before. The latest was a kitten in distress with a rectal prolapse that showed up in a restaurant parking lot near a park where I feed stray cats. Took the cat to the vet and he had an operation to repair his behind and now lives in the home of a family who has a cat shelter here in Japan. There are certainly worse ways to spend money...respect your decision and your compassion.

Thank you so much for your warm and caring words! You sound just like me and the missus! We have been feeding stray cats for, well, forever! The two cats we have in the house were both strays and both had parvovirus. We also leave a cat buffet outside 24/7 for any stray cats that are hungry. It isn't perfect, but I cannot afford to have hundreds of cats... Thailand is riddled with stray cats and dogs. Take one set off the streets and there is another within a week. Wish I could give them all love but totally impossible (have a small house too haha). We can only do our best... but this cat, kind of adopted US! He just sleeps outside every night so we HAD to do something. Will keep you posted on what is happening with him with an updated video in a few days! Take care, Den.

Today, Beau and I went about trying to save a helpless stray kitten we feed (he lives outside the house), which could turn into a bit of a money pit without pet insurance. Worse still, just after we grabbed him and put him in a cat box, the pest control guys turned up in order to do the annual termite spraying... so I had to go to the vets alone as Beau can't drive! Anyway, do you think I did the right thing? Let me know below! Cheers, Den.

Born wrong country mate! 😊 Australian embassy Bangkok online passport renewal (pages finished) Australian Passport last year cost me A$505😬 pay with Dr Card. Passport arrived in 10 days. Just went CW for re-entry permit go Okinawa March needed 3 passports, previous passport has last entry stamp and passport before that has my original Non-O visa from Australia 2015. So carry 3 passports 😅 For Re-entry permit you need to show original visa. Good luck 👍

For me, however, something has gone wrong a little... in the process of sorting it now (nothing to do with what I did), and should be sorted soon enough... will post a video update by midweek, next week. Thanks for the very interesting comments, Den.

I have just come back from Bangkok after submitting my application for my os uk passport it took me 10 days of trying to login to their site to get a appointment every time I entered my email and password i got various messages like wrong password or email or you have accrued an error try again in 2 or 4 hours after numerous emails they sent me click on to activate the account to book the appointment when i submitted my application I could not use my Thai license as i.d. When I renewed it last year they transferred my old address even though I had entered my present address on the application form the other problem was that pages 26 and 27 in my color copies of my passport luckily the staff member did two copies to replace the missing ones luckily also i had taken 3 proof of address 1 pension letter,a agreement to rent apartment and my Thai drivers license. So they could of denied my application on these two problems. The message here is check and check again I live in Buriram so it’s 6 hours on nakonchai air each way and hopefully again in 4 weeks when they say i should be able to collect my new passport lol.As I said the biggest problem I had was trying to get to login for the appointment I did ask when I got to the office and asked did they have many complaints about trying to do the login the answer sometimes good luck every body

Hey there Den, been watching for a while until you disappeared. Your vids came up because I am a vlogger around Khon Kaen too, with emphasis on accessibility. Your vids are really well made and edited. Personally, I've been making visits and videos since marrying my Thai (family and wife!) with 14 series so far on the channel. It isn't as big as it should be, compared to similar channels and I'll tell you more about that later. I am due back to KKC in 5 weeks and wanted to know if you wanted to hang out for a vlog or two? I will let you in on my other reason for watching your vids in the beginning, it was because I am 99% sure you came to my wedding back in 2015, and I recognised you from that auspicious day. At the time, you were teaching and I think it was you I was asking questions about teaching. I went on to do the TEFL a few years later, but have yet to teach anyone except my wife!!! Anyway, let me know and we can arrange something. We're not far from BeungKaen Nahkon Lake just across the crossroads on the main drag south. Best wishes.

Helped my friend do his UK passport a few years ago in Thailand. First his was rejected as he gave his UK address and paid the UK fee while he was in Thailand. He had to reapply with his current Thai residence as that is where he was. Also, the fee was higher to cover the delivery to Bangkok passport office. Also, he had to pay an overstay fee as his 90-day reporting required his valid passport, which the UK passport office said he had to send it to them at that time.

I did my Aussie renewal last year, and yes t is a stressful period simply because it is critically important to us expats. I had my online submitted photos rejected twice, and I sent off self addressed certified express mail envelope for passport return. I received notification from Australia after 4 weeks it was being sent to me ... then nothing for 4 weeks. Then one day I get a call from the Embassy in Bangkok saying "when are you coming to get your passport?, it has been here for many weeks" Inside my head I was furious, WHAT ABOUT THE SELF ADRESSED ENVELOPE!!!, but it is important so I bit my lip and travelled to Bangkok the next day. Oh and by the way Australia has the most expensive passports in the world, but renewing remotely adds about an additional $150 (not to mention my travel, photos, costs etc)

Wow. I wish it was like that here in Thailand. Unfortunately, you cannot do that here (it gets rejected in Liverpool as far as I know). And, for what it is worth, I HAVE actually been denied this time round - for the first time. 22 days in and I am no further on with the payment still outstanding (it is a payment issue and nothing else), but it shows that not everything in the world is always so straightforward. Just renewed mine. Two week turnaround, Bangkok/UK/Bangkok. Be aware that when you go to immigration at Chaeng Wattana to get your entry and visa stamps transferred to your new passport, you will need to provide a bank statement from the date of your last visa stamp. I guess they do this to check you have not fallen under the minimum balances of 800,000 THB and 400,000 THB for people with an annual 'extension of stay'. The staff at VFS in the Shoppes were wonderful. However, the VFS website is temperamental; it took me various attempts before I could book my online appointment.

@@KhonKaenDen KKD, I posted a thread on Asean Now on Wednesday about this. See topic, 'Transfer Visa Stamps and Entry Stamps to New Passport'. The moderator explained that this may be CW specific. Also worth noting that CW might not transfer re-entry stamps issued by the immigration office at Suvarnabhumi Airport. The form to request the transfer lists 8 docs on the reverse side you may need to provide; this list makes no reference to a bank statement. Luckily, I had my K Bank passbook with me and updated it in the machine at the branch downstairs. Everything was fine. Then, a 'poochai' officer 'robustly' told me to get a 'paper statement'. That took 90 minutes 🙄. Sabai, sabai. Note, there is no charge for the transfer. You will receive an E mail from HMPO with a questionnaire about their service. In the 'Personal Details' section you are asked all types of questions. The part about 'identifying yourself' is 'fun' - DEI on steroids. I could not resist 'self identifying' myself as a 'Red Fire Hydrant'. I'll be in trouble now 🤣. Hope this helps. Chok dee.

Question for you Den; what happens to your Thai Visa stamp? Is that transferred from the colour copy, or does that need to be done again at Immigration? Also has the Khon Kaen Immigration office moved yet? Thanks for all the great info, it really helps calm the nerves. Best of luck!

    • @KhonKaenDen
      @KhonKaenDen 3 дня назад

Hi, matey. Thanks for the question. OK. As far as I know (done 10 years ago but should still be the same), you wait until your new passport arrives (in Bangkok), then go and pick it up. The UK Immigration etc. has nothing to do with Thai VISAS. Therefore, once you have your NEW passport, you take that along with the OLD one (now clipped on the corner) to your local immigration office (i.e. Khon Kaen). Here, they will transfer the current VISA to your new passport (a big stamp with loads of Thai writing). This is a FREE service but they asked me for 200 baht last time. for "administration" I wasn't going to argue with their "tea" money so I paid it and got everything sorted. Let's see what they say this time haha. I will actually make a video on this once (if ever) I actually get my new passport. As for the immigration office move, I went there at the start of the year and they were as clueless at the actual moving date as they were 6 months prior! Haha. Anyway, I must do my 90-day report near the end of this month so will ask again for you... hopefully with some more concrete evidence. Hope this helps. Cheers, Den.

In this video, I try to explain the rather complicated process of renewing a UK passport in Bangkok, Thailand in 2025. Things seem to have changed in recent times. I have done my level best to help anyone who has to go through the same process but I am not even confident if my own passport will be renewed from what I have done. Will it be rejected? Watch this space. Renewing passports from other countries seems far easier than the UK passport renewal system which seems to take the proverbial biscuit. This is, without doubt, the most taxing video I have put together but I think it is worth it as it may help other UK citizens. Anyway, I understand that this will be a slow burner as it isn't important for everyone. Back to "normal Khon Kaen Den" in the next video, I promise!!!! Take care and I hope it is of use to you!

No limits to my imagination 😂 Bangkok has so much to offer, especially when it comes to food. I`m sure Beau and you experienced the delicious and tasty side of the city. And I do understand that perfectly well, integrating with Thais, what is not to like, right? 😂 But I, on the other hand, am Thai, and love to interact with foreigners, so the tourist areas are my favourite areas.
